Hilaree Nelson, 49, was skiing down from the 26,775 feet summit with her partner Jim Morrison when she fell off the mountain... Bad weather hampered rescue efforts Monday. But visibility was good in improved weather conditions Tuesday while a helicopter was hovering over the mountain to see any signs of the missing climber... Nelson, from Telluride, Colorado, and Morrison, from Tahoe, California, are extreme skiers who summited Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth-highest peak, in 2018. Nepal’s government has issued permits to 504 climbers to attempt to scale high mountain peaks during the autumn season. Most of them are on Mount...

Forty years ago, on Nov. 10, 1975, the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald sank during a ferocious storm on Lake Superior, killing all 29 men aboard. Rather than linking to the famous Gordon Lightfoot song (and according to SiriusXM radio, Gordon personally attended todays annual memorial service held by the families), this is a 32 minute recording of actual US Coast Guard marine radio traffic from that tragic day.

Joe Rasch and his two daughters, Emily and Elizabeth, were looking for agates on the Lake Superior coastline last Friday. Instead, they found a piece of history -Â a life ring from the Edmund Fitzgerald. Rasch admits he didn't realize what he found when he first saw the orange ring lying under a with pine tree that had fallen. Only when his daughter Emily read the words on the ring, it hit him. "It was pretty hard to read," Emily said. "I saw the Ed pretty good, then Fitz, so." They made the discovery near the Keweenau Peninsula, about 200 miles...

Edmund was an English king who lived in the ninth century. He became king when he was only fourteen. Yet his high position did not make him proud or conceited. Instead, he took as his model the Old Testament king, David. Edmund tried to serve God as well as David had. In fact, Edmund even learned David's psalms by heart. The psalms are beautiful hymns of praise to God contained in the Holy Bible. King Edmund governed wisely, showing kindness to all his subjects. When Danish barbarians invaded his land, he fought them bravely. Their army was much larger than...

Former page Jordan Edmund had dinner in California with U.S. Rep. Mark Foley in 2002 and then went briefly to the congressman’s hotel room, the ex-page’s attorney confirmed Friday. “Nothing untoward happened. It was social chitchat,” attorney Stephen Jones said from Enid. Edmund was then 17, in high school and living in Carlsbad, Calif. Edmund, now 21, is among the teenage, male former pages who allegedly received sexually explicit Internet messages from Foley, a Florida Republican. Foley resigned Sept. 29 after ABC News confronted him about the graphic instant messages. Foley, 52, has since admitted through an attorney that he...

WASHINGTON - House Speaker Dennis Hastert said Tuesday he'll dismiss anyone on his staff found to have covered up concerns about ex-Rep. Mark Foley's approaches to former pages. Hastert said he huddled with his staff members last week and he believes they acted appropriately in handling information on Foley's conduct. But he also issued them a stern warning: "If they did cover something up, then they should not continue to have their jobs." The FBI is conducting a criminal investigation and the House ethics committee is investigating any potential violations of standards of conduct. Timeline pushed back Meanwhile, Rep. Jim...

Is there a connection among all of these Greenwalds?? The first 2 are rabid liberals. The third was soliciting pages for a television show on pages. Seems very coincidental to me. Glenn Greenwald Robert Greenwald Laura Greenwald

Likable and popular with female pages, a committed Republican who even as a teenager knew how to parlay chance meetings into political friendships, Jordan Edmund has emerged as a key figure in the Foley page scandal. The former House page has been targeted by conservative blogs as the young man on the receiving end of former representative Mark Foley's sexually explicit online instant messages, which have engulfed the GOP in a scandal that could affect the outcome of the Nov. 7 congressional elections. Edmund has hired a lawyer, Stephen Jones, who will not acknowledge whether his client was the one...

Bit h/t to the Commenters at Just One Minute. We bloggers owe our best work to their diligence and tenacity. The following is a complilation of some what they found so far, of what just may be the key to getting to the bottom of a Democratic conspiracy in the Foley Setup. As I previously posted here, there apparently was a promise of a book deal to pages by a Robin Kasaros. Googling her name brought about useful information such as she hosted “House Parties” back in 2005. No, not where you sell Tupperware, but the kind that like to...

I worked in the Istook Campaign in Oklahoma City. One of my co-workers was Jordan Edmund. I actually didn't get to know him all that well, but everything I saw and heard about him indicated that he was not gay. He basically behaved like your standard frat boy. His facebook account no longer exist. If he was part of some prank, I didn't know about it. Jordan came from CA long before I arrived and was there when I left. Jordan was a hard worker and didn't loose his temper or anything like that. He mainly talked about Berkley and...

Today we have more on Jordon Edmund, the page that fmr rep. Foley had contact with. “A former U.S. House page working on the gubernatorial campaign of Republican Rep. Ernest Istook may be a part of the scandal involving former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, The Oklahoman has learned. The former page, a Californian named Jordan Edmund, 21, on Wednesday hired Enid attorney Stephen Jones to represent him, the attorney confirmed. Jones would not say exactly why he was hired, but did say, “I understand the FBI and the House Ethics committee have an interest in the matter … the allegations...

Mark Foley is a scumbag! Mark Foley is a scumbag! Mark Foley is a scumbag! Now that that is out of the way I will reveal how I (and a few others) discovered Jordan Edmund was one of the former house pages that participated in sexually explicit instant messages with Rep. Mark Foley. Also I will explain to you why I believe it necessary to reveal Jordan Edmund's identity. You may not agree with my decision, but I hope to explain my reasoning by the end of this story. Climbers' attitude is 'horrifying', says Sir Edmund (Filed: 24/05/2006) Sir Edmund Hillary, one of the first mountaineers ever to scale Mount Everest, has expressed outrage at reports that a young Englishman was left to die on the side of the world's tallest peak. Sir Edmund: 'People just want to get to the top' David Sharp, from Guisborough, apparently died of oxygen deficiency while descending from Everest's summit last week. Several parties reported seeing Mr Sharp, who was 34, in various states of health on the day of his death. One party included the New Zealander Mark Inglis, who became the...

Canada--Famed Canadian balladeer, Gordon Lightfoot, whose epic ballad The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald chronicled the last minutes of an otherwise obscure, industrial maritime disaster, has weighed in again with another blow-by-blow account of a more recent near tragedy. "When I saw the Norwegian Dawn's harrowing story on C-Span, I had to act," said Lightfoot. “The thing practically wrote itself.” Some say that Lightfoot’s deft touch with haunting, almost ethereal lyrics makes his new ballad, The List of the Norwegian Dawn, a potentially instant hit. “I can hear the song in my head already,” said one fan of Lightfoot. “This...
