POMONA, Calif. — A teacher in Southern California has been placed on administrative leave after being accused of forcing a student to eat food from a trash can. The incident was reported on Wednesday at Alcott Elementary School in Pomona. 10-year-old Gilbert Lopez said after he threw his lunch away, his teacher asked him to pull his sandwich out of the garbage and finish eating it.

HIDALGO COUNTY - Illegal immigration is forcing a rancher to move his livestock away from a property along the Rio Grande. Jose Cavazos said it's become nearly impossible to maintain his fences. He said immigrants damage them when they flee from Border Patrol agents. Cavazos isn't the only rancher dealing with the destruction. Damaged fences lead to stray cattle, ranchers said. Thanksgiving is drawing nigh and with it, PETA's annual war on the holiday that features a lot of indulgence of turkey, stuffing, and other delightful confections. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $25,000 that will go to the construction of benches made of garbage for a park in Tijuana, Mexico. According to an EPA press release, the agency joined the San Diego Center for Civic Engagement in awarding $45,000 to 4Walls International for the construction of park spaces that will use trash pulled from the Tijuana River Valley as building materials. …

The Civil Authority and the IDF has cleared out 20,000 cubic tons of trash from an illegal Arab dump in Samaria, after ongoing appeals from an environmental organization. Boy, was she trashed! A completely hammered Manhattan lawyer who got locked out of her Chelsea apartment yesterday nearly lost her arm when she jumped down the garbage chute to get back inside. The hare-brained bid began when attorney Maggie Baumer came home from a long night on the town at around 6 a.m., only to find herself stuck without the keys to her first-floor apartment on West 21st Street.
