  • Suit claims man was assaulted after health care rally

    St. Louis Post-Dispatch ^ | August 20, 2011 | Valerie Hahn
Two men acquitted last month on assault charges regarding an incident outside a contentious town hall forum in 2009 were named Friday in a civil suit. Kenneth Gladney filed the case against Service Employees International Union members Elston McCowan of St. Louis and Perry Molens of De Soto, as well as SEIU President Mary Kay Henry and local President Tom Balanoff. Gladney was selling "Don't Tread on Me" buttons and flags outside the south St. Louis County forum, called by U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, at the height of debate over health care reform. He alleges that McCowan and...
  • Did Soros fund the attorneys in the Kenneth Gladney trial?

I was talking to someone about the travesty of Gladney's trial, when the thought occurred to me: I can't find ANY information about some of the details of the case. I'm sure I'm just asking the search engine the wrong questions, but is there anybody around here who followed that case closely? Whenever I see blackouts of information like this, I get suspicious. Who were those lawyers who helped defend the thugs that beat up Gladney? We should look into it.

Pastor Harris Himes sent me this letter following the shocking verdict in the Gladney beatdown case. Pastor Himes and his wife Sandra witnessed the local SEIU thugs attack Kenneth Gladney outside a Russ Carnahan town hall event in 2009. They were there when the SEIU beat an innocent black man. Harris was obviously upset with the verdict yesterday. After a health care town hall meeting in August 2009 St. Louis native Kenneth Gladney was beaten, kicked and called racist names by Rep. Russ Carnahan’s SEIU supporters. Gladney spent the night in the hospital after the beating. Yesterday the two SEIU...

Kenneth Gladney reaction: “I couldn’t beat them; I didn’t have the resources they had. They had all the money in the world and the backing. I’m just an average man.” Video pending. The Kenneth Gladney beatdown case continued this morning in St. Louis County Court. After a health care town hall meeting in August 2009 St. Louis native Kenneth Gladney was beaten, kicked and called racist names by Rep. Russ Carnahan’s SEIU supporters. Power: Show Me State voters overwhelmingly rejected the federal mandate to buy health insurance. Those who ignored the consent of the governed to pass ObamaCare take heed: The governed no longer consent. It is fitting that Missouri was the first state to hold a public referendum on ObamaCare, sending the notion that government can shred the Constitution to impose its will to a crushing defeat with three-quarters of the voters approving Proposition C. The measure would forbid the federal government from penalizing people who do not buy health insurance. A year ago, on Aug. 6, 2009, Kenneth Gladney, an African-American...

Racial Politics: The NAACP, in crafting a resolution condemning racism in the Tea Party movement, seems to have forgotten those Black Panthers with clubs intimidating voters and wanting to kill white people. The "angry mobs" that reshaped the 2010 political landscape are angry white racist mobs, at least according to a resolution proposed by the NAACP at its annual convention this week in Kansas City, Mo. The resolution calls on "all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights...

On May 5th, 2010 The Missouri NAACP hosted a press conference and rally on behalf of Perry Molens and Elston McCowan, demanding the county prosecutor drop assault charges stemming from an attack outside Russ Carnahan’s townhall in South St. Louis County on Health Care last August. Molens and McCowan were arrested after the staged Carnahan event in August after they beat, kicked and stomped on black vendor Kenneth Gladney. The two Russ Carnahan supporters and SEIU members also called Kenneth the n-word as they bashed him into the cement. This press conference in May was intended to drum up political...

Union Influence: The White House picks its most frequent visitor to sit on its deficit commission. He believes in big government, in big spending, and that the workers of the world should unite. What could go wrong? Computer security firms have been known to hire the best former hackers because they know best how to stop others like them. But the appointment of Andy Stern, president of the Service Employee International Union (SEIU), to a bipartisan commission to come up with ways to deal with the rapidly rising federal budget deficit is like having a serial arsonist organize Fire Prevention...

Politics: With the Massachusetts Senate race in a dead heat, the Service Employees International Union makes a massive ad buy for a Democrat raising money from lobbyists. Sorry, Sen. Kerry, but the tea party's coming. Having received a tsunami warning, the purple shirts of the SEIU have sprung into action with a major ad buy trying to pull the Senate candidacy of Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley from the jaws of defeat. The buy size of $685,000, extracted from the union dues of not-always-willing workers, is one of the biggest of the election. The ads note that Republican Scott Brown...

In the eyes of the corruptocracy of the left, which group is evil and which is morally pure: SEIU thugs or US Navy SEALs? It seems to be no contest. Imagine if you will (as Rod Serling used to say) that innocent US citizen Kenneth Gladney, who gave away "Don't Tread on Me" flags outside of a Missouri town hall meeting, instead gave out SEIU buttons at a pro-labor rally. Also imagine that instead of being surrounded and beaten by SEIU thugs, he was attacked by US Navy SEALs. Would the treatment by the legacy media be the same? Would...

Politics: If the Democrats' stitched-together Frankenstein monster of health care reform gets the 60 votes to get through the Senate, it will have been done through an assortment of bribes and brass knuckles. (snip) Sen. Ben Nelson, a Nebraska Democrat, has also been critical of the buy-in and public option, but he has an additional issue about whatever comes out of the Senate not involving public funding of abortion in any way. Michael Goldfarb on the Weekly Standard blog quotes a Senate aide as saying the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base on the...

There’s nothing that liberals hate more than a black person who achieves success without their help. While the president of the United States gets worked up about a policeman who arrests a clearly out-of-control “scholar” (Henry Louis Gates Jr.) who enjoys a cushy job advancing the notion that blacks were, are, and always will be victims, he says nothing about his close supporters, SEIU thugs, ganging up on a black man trying to sell merchandise at an August health care town hall. Professors who refuse to teach Huckleberry Finn because of its realistic dialogue ignore the fact that eyewitnesses heard...

Union Violence: An African-American is beaten up at a political rally by thugs shouting racial epithets, and after three months his assailants are charged with the moral equivalent of jaywalking. Why wasn't it a hate crime? The beating of Kenneth Gladney by people wearing the purple shirts of the Service Employees International Union outside a Missouri health care town hall meeting three months ago met all the classic definitions of a hate crime. Time was, the beating of a black man outside a protest rally, and the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, would be headline news. Gladney was working...

Spare a thought, and maybe even a dime, for Kenneth Gladney. In August he and other members of the right-wing St. Louis Tea Party arrived at a town-hall meeting organized by Missouri Democrat Russ Carnahan to lobby against universal healthcare. In the spirit of this fraught summer, a fight broke out, ending in six arrests. Who threw the first punch depends on whom you ask. But who got the worst of it was fairly clear. Gladney was taken to the emergency room with injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face and ended up in a wheelchair. His troubles...

Sadly, for Republicans who have richly enjoyed watching Democrats getting a taste of their own medicine at town halls across the country, the August recess is winding down. Still, there are already so many memories. Humiliating, awful, scarring memories that are likely to still be haunting Democrats when November of 2010 rolls around. 7) Steny Hoyer vs. Don Jeror: Nancy Pelosi's condescending 2nd in command, Steny Hoyer, ran into a buzzsaw named Dan Jeror who, after emphasizing that he was a registered Democrat, got off one of the best lines of the summer so far: "Why would you guys try...
