Former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, firmly lamented gun violence as a women’s issue as their political action committee, Americans for Responsible Solutions, gears up to support candidates in the 2014 midterm elections. Giffords and Kelly visited the Hearst headquarters in New York on Monday morning to speak with Ellen Levine, editorial director of Hearst magazines. During their presentation they revealed a number of startling facts: American women are eleven times more likely to be killed by guns than in any other high-income country, and every month, nearly 50 women are shot to death by a...

The grieving father of one of the six students shot dead by the 'virgin killer' in California on Friday, led a rousing call for a change in gun laws at a memorial today. As Richard Martinez addressed a crowd of about 20,000 who gathered for the University of California Santa Barbara memorial, the crowd got to their feet and joined his chant of 'Not One More'.

In an emotional statement, the father of a victim of the mass murder in Isla Vista on Friday night addressed reporters Saturday and warned families that it can happen to them too. "Our family has a message for every parent out there: You don’t think it’ll happen to your child until it does.”

If we’re destined to have another Bush versus Clinton election, it’s only right that there be a Perot-type in the mix too.As David Petraeus once said, tell me how this ends. Ben Carson is warming to the idea of running for president. Since the famous brain surgeon retired last year from Johns Hopkins Hospital, he’s been speaking around the country to enthusiastic audiences. And they’ve affected his thinking about seeking national office…Carson writes that he suspects many others interested in high office would be better candidates. But in his book he has a caveat: “If I felt called by...

The Bundy case in Nevada provides many insights into the state of our nation with respect to the relationship between the people and the government.

The Bundys appear to be honorable American citizens without adequate legal counsel to help resolve a federal land issue about which they disagree with the Bureau of Land Management. Without question, they violated some of the innumerable laws and regulations that continue to entangle every aspect of American life.

Retired pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson said Thursday that Americans are "being played by those people who want to divide, conquer and control." "The trend you can see in our society is if you are pro-life, then you're anti-woman," Carson said at a town hall meeting entitled "Religion in America," sponsored by local news station CBS12 in West Palm Beach, Fla. "If you're pro-traditional marriage, then you're homophobic. If you're a white person — and you say something against a progressive black person, you’re a racist. "We have gotten to this point to where we just like to label people...

(CNN) -- Michael Bloomberg is investing a chunk of his personal fortune to minimize the influence of the National Rifle Association. The former New York City mayor pledged $50 million to his new group Everytown for Gun Safety, an umbrella organization for his two other gun control groups: Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. It aims to make the political climate more supportive of gun control. The new organization plans to compete against the NRA by adopting its playbook. The NRA has built an impressive and effective organization that touts millions of members,...

- FrontPage Magazine - http://www.frontpagemag.com - Leland Yee: An Anti-Gun Democrat Jihadists Can LovePosted By Robert Spencer On March 28, 2014 @ 12:25 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | No Comments California State Senator Leland Yee is the very model of a modern public servant.Yee, a Democrat, has amassed a well-deserved reputation as an anti-gun crusader: shortly after Adam Lanza’s murderous rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, Yee helped spearhead one of the toughest gun laws in the entire nation, banning the “bullet button” that allows shooters to change magazines on assault weapons quickly and easily. California Governor...

Taking a swipe at conservatives on gun control, liberal comic Bill Maher joked that a mass shooting should take place at the Country Music Awards. “Now that liberals have forwarded their agenda by inserting a mass gay wedding into the Grammys, conservatives must match them tit-for-tat by having a mass shooting at the Country Music Awards,”

A national newspaper chain with nearly 100 publications and 1.6 million readers is considering building “state-by-state databases” on concealed weapons permit holders, according to an internal e-mail. The plan, laid out in an email from a top editor at North Carolina-based Civitas Media, could be similar to a controversial project a New York state newspaper carried out in 2012 which included an online map that identified gun owners in two counties by name and address. Civitas' database project was detailed the plan in a Jan. 19 e-mail to newsrooms in 11 states, including Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania.

After the slaughter of innocents at Sandy Hook last December, the nation seemed poised to enact common-sense gun controls. Poll s showed that even the majority of gun owners and NRA members were in favor of such measures as universal background checks and the banning of some military style assault weapons. Then, while most of us were still reeling with shock, the NRA went into high gear. Wayne LaPierre was all over the airways sounding like a cross between Elmer Gantry and an Old Testament prophet warning of Armageddon. His message: The government was coming to confiscate our guns and...

DENVER—If Democrats were trying to put the calamitous Evie Hudak era behind them on Tuesday night, they didn’t quite succeed. A Democratic Party vacancy committee selected Arvada city councilwoman and Hudak associate Rachel Zenzinger to fill the vacancy left by Hudak’s eleventh-hour resignation last month in the face of a recall threat. Zenzinger’s position on hot-button issues like gun control remains to be seen, but in the short run she’s not going to make anyone forget about Hudak. Zenzinger served as Hudak’s campaign manager in the 2012 election and was reportedly Hudak’s choice for the vacancy. While ProgressNow Colorado praised...

People, it is time to talk about guns. My entire adult life has been dedicated to the deliberate management of violence. There are no two ways around that fact. My job, at the end of the day, is about killing. I orchestrate violence. I am not proud of that fact. Indeed, I am often torn-up by the realization that not only is this my job, but that I am really good at my job. But my profession is about directed violence on behalf of the nation. What is happening inside our country is random and disgusting, and living here in...

Even though Gov. John Hickenlooper did most of the talking during Monday’s “lean in and listen” stop in Craig, the locals made it clear they’re tired of having their concerns brushed aside by lawmakers in Denver and Washington, D.C. Chief among the issues raised at the public forum were the federal crackdown on coal, the looming sage-grouse listing, and the state legislature’s doubling of the renewable-energy mandate and limiting access to firearms and ammunition. Brandy Meek, chair of the Moffat County Republican Party, drew loud applause when she said, “I would urge you, this next legislative session, please represent all...

Democratic State Senator Evie Hudak is facing a second round of recall after voting for Mayor Bloomberg’s gun control bills, but sources tell us she has agreed to resign if the organizers seeking her recall get enough signatures. The scuttlebutt around the Capitol is that Hudak has agreed to resign her seat if enough signatures get verified to force a recall election, but we’ve been told a secret agreement allegedly made with Senate President Morgan Carroll comes with a few strings attached. If Hudak lost her recall election, it would hand power of the State Senate to Republicans. To stop...

When it comes to advancing his partisan agenda, Barack Obama barely waits for the bodies to cool. Literally. Like the Washington Navy Yard shooting. While families and coworkers gathered to pay their respects to the 12 people murdered by a registered Democrat, Barack Obama gave his spiel for gutting the Second Amendment. When people shoot up a mall in Kenya, our president says it’s terrorism. When a guy shoots up a workplace in America, our president says it’s the guns. And as people engaged in legitimate mourning Sunday shed a tear and shared their memories, Barack Obama said we had...

Two videos are posted at Twitchy and GSL in which Angela Giron continues to reinforce why she was recalled in a recent Colorado effort. In an interview clip below, Giron blames the NRA for the Navy Yard shooting. Giron feels the NRA keeps trying to convince people—out of greed—that “more guns equals safety. And in this case in particular, we can look at, it was a Navy Yard. You couldn’t have any more armed people than in that case right there.” Apparently Giron is unaware that the Navy Yard was a gun-free zone thanks to Bill Clinton. Additionally, GatewayPundit reported...
