More Fish Cops, Less Liberty by Dr Jimmy T (Gunny) LaBaume editor@flyoverpress.com www.flyoverpress.com Back in February of 2007, I wrote about an encounter I had with one of the State's Game Keepers (See Liberty v. Fish Cops and Federalies). I am sad to report that the situation in the police state has deteriorated substantially since that time. Some time between 4:30 and 5:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2008 my wife and I arrived at the entrance to the property in Terrell County, Texas referred in the 2007 article cited above. The entrance to our private road (belonging to the...

LOS ANGELES -- During two tours of duty in Iraq, Navy corpsman Melson J. Bacos said he experienced everything combat had to offer -- fire fights with insurgents, soldiers dying in his arms, thoughts of whether he'd live another day. Now he's got another unnerving assignment. On Friday, the 21 year old is scheduled to give testimony that military prosecutors hope will help them convict seven Marines accused of kidnapping and murdering an Iraqi man in the town of Hamdania. Bacos, a medic who patrolled with the Marines, will have similar charges dropped in exchange for testimony during his court...

INDIAN RIVER INLET, Del. - There was a happy reunion Monday night between seven wayward fishermen and their families. "We all survived," said one of them as he walked off a Coast Guard ship. This group of union plumbers and sheet metal workers left Friday from the Indian River Inlet in Sussex County, Del., between Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach. On Saturday night, they heard a bump under their boat, and then came the water. "I heard the alarm for high water go off and ran down the steps, and water was already coming up the steps," said Ken Arters...

"He died at 11.20 in the morning from a severe pulmonary disease," a military doctor told AFP declining to be named. "He was admitted in our hospital 50 days ago in a critical condition." "Only little people pay taxes." Leona Helmsley said, didn't she? Well, that statement represents reality more than people realize. No, it's not just the taxes that are the issue. The overriding issue making so many people angry these days is the LACK of uniform justice in this country (and the world for that matter). Law after law is passed and who follows those laws? The honest people try. The little people have to. I personally know that in almost all workplaces, people are chafing under oppressive management which sets attendance rules, policy, etc. that the employees are expected to follow...

"... disbelievers will be cast into an eternal fire. But Allah is also ever merciful, and the West can change its ways and turn to the purifying power of Islam ..." -- Kidnapped Fox reporter Steve "Khaled'' Centanni, channeling his captors. We don't often get to watch our media people convert to Islam, so the footage of Fox News' Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig has been riveting. Some people can't get enough of watching planes fly into the World Trade Center towers; I can't get enough of Centanni and Wiig pledging allegiance to Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him. The common...

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Actor Glenn Ford, who played strong, thoughtful protagonists in films such as "The Blackboard Jungle," "Gilda" and "The Big Heat," died Wednesday, police said. He was 90. Paramedics called to Ford's home just before 4 p.m. found Ford dead, police Sgt. Terry Nutall said, reading a prepared statement. "They do not suspect foul play," he said. Ford suffered a series of strokes in the 1990s. Failing health forced him to skip a 90th birthday tribute on May 1 at Hollywood's historic Grauman's Egyptian Theatre. But he did send greetings via videotape, adding, "I wish I were...

Arab Americans are as diverse as the national origins and immigration experiences that have shaped their ethnic identity in the United States, with religious affiliation being one of the most defining factors. The majority of Arab Americans descend from the first wave of mostly Christian immigrants. Sharing the faith tradition of the majority of Americans facilitated their acculturation into American society, as did high intermarriage rates with other Christian ethnic groups. Even though many Arab Christians have kept their Orthodox and Eastern Rite church (Greek Catholic, Maronite, Coptic) affiliations, which have helped to strengthen ethnic identification and certain rituals, their...

From www.danielpipes.org | Original article available at: www.danielpipes.org/article/943 [The Need to Name and] Know Thy Terrorists by Daniel Pipes New York Post November 19, 2002 Has anyone noticed the difference in the way America's two wars are approached? When the subject is Iraq, the U.S. government is proactive, articulate and specific. But when it comes to militant Islam, officialdom is reactive, awkward and vague. Take the issue of preventive security. To stop Iraqi sabotage and terrorism, The New York Times recently reported, Washington tracks thousands of Iraqi citizens and Iraqi-Americans who might pose a domestic risk. It even has plans...

http://www.ronaldreagan.com/tradition.html PRESIDENTIAL TRADITION I never ceased to enjoy reviewing our men and women in uniform and hope I started a new tradition for presidents. As commander in chief, I discovered it was customary for our uniformed men and women to salute whenever they saw me. When I'd walk down the steps of a helicopter, for example, there was always a marine waiting there to salute me. I was told presidents weren't supposed to return salutes, so I didn't, but this made me feel a little uncomfortable. Normally, a person offering a salute waits until it is returned, then brings down...

Corbis Sgt. Alvin C. York, on a visit in February 1919 to the hill at Châtel-Chéhéry, where 132 Germans surrendered. CHÂTEL-CHÉHÉRY, France — On Oct. 8, 1918, Cpl. Alvin Cullum York and 16 other American doughboys stumbled upon more than a dozen German soldiers having breakfast in a boggy hollow here. The ensuing firefight ended with the surrender of 132 Germans and won Corporal York a promotion to sergeant, the Congressional Medal of Honor and a place in America's pantheon of war heroes. Now another battle is unfolding as rival researchers use global positioning systems and computer programs, old...

http://corner.nationalreview.com/print/ Tell the Commandant [Michael Ledeen] I've just sent this letter to General Michael Hagee, the Commandant of the Marine Corps (comrel@hqmc.usmc.mil). You might want to pile on: Dear General Hagee, I'm dismayed by your recent behavior. It seems to me an outrage, and quite possibly illegal to boot, to put Marines in the brig and to shackle them, when no charges have been filed against them. It seems to me an outrage for you to brief the likes of Congressman Murtha before the investigation was complete, and even then you should have told him to wait, to let justice...

Sadistic irony By TrevorBothwell Jun 12, 2006 In the June 7 edition of its newspaper, The Arizona Republic published a repulsive cartoon by Steve Benson that desecrates the U.S. Marine Corps' Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem and defames the USMC as a collection of wanton murderers. The source of Benson's vitriol? The alleged murders of 24 Iraqis at Haditha in November 2005. Normally I resist the temptation to reprint professional cartoons without first receiving proper permissions, and this time is no different. However, this cartoon truly must be seen to be believed. Marines, Not Soldiers Published: Jan 28, 2002 I have a complaint about some of the news readers for the local television stations, and I am sure there are countless other Marines with the same one. It is galling to hear the news readers referring to Marines as ``soldiers.'' Marines are not soldiers; they are Marines and always will be. There is no such thing as an ex-Marine or a former Marine. We are all ``Marines,'' period. Soldiers are members of the Army and sailors are members of the Navy. You wouldn't call a soldier a sailor, so why would you...

April 1, 2002 Marine Corps Museum Coming to Va. By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Filed at 2:34 p.m. ET SPRINGFIELD, Va. (AP) -- A Marine Corps museum scheduled to break ground in a year will feature a 210-foot tilted spire meant to evoke the flag-raising at Iwo Jima during World War II. The mast, inclined at a 45-degree angle, is the most striking feature of the museum's glass atrium design. ``When people see the sketches of the atrium, about a third pick up on it immediately -- that's a stylized rendition of the flag-raising,'' said Col. Joe Long, the Marines' project...
