  • The House Somehow Votes To Notify ICE When Illegals Try To Buy Guns

You can either call this a procedural trick or a fracturing of the Democratic majority in the House. Either way, the new background check bill that passed in the House yesterday wound up including an amendment that requires ICE to be notified when an illegal alien attempts to purchase a firearm in the United States. The amendment to the bill was added via a motion to recommit. This procedure allows the minority to introduce an amendment after the bill is finalized but before the Speaker calls for a full floor vote. It didn’t pass by much, but some of...

On Wednesday, for the first time in a generation, the U.S. House is poised to pass new gun control legislation. That a pair of new bills are even getting a vote reflects a confluence of events, including a newly empowered House Democratic majority, the apparently diminishing clout of the National Rifle Association, and the activism of a generation of young Americans following years of deadly school shootings. Democratic leaders say they have the votes to pass a bill requiring background checks on all commercial gun sales, including those at gun shows and over the internet. The bill also has five...

The 21 foot rule drill is well known within the law enforcement and personal defense circle. The Tueller drill is all about "reactionary gap" through training. Other trainers have come up with the distances associated it to the Tueller drill. This experimentation, determined that the average healthy adult male can cover a distance of seven yards (21 feet) in about 1.5 seconds. The significance of the time factor is based on the reasonable standard that a person who’s trained in proper pistol craft (gun fighting) should be able to draw a handgun and place two centered hits on a life-size...

The House is slated to vote Wednesday on landmark legislation to require universal background checks for gun sales, a top priority for Democrats. It will mark the most significant gun control vote in years after the Senate failed in 2013 to pass similar bipartisan legislation to expand the federal background check system. It’s not the only day this week the House will take up legislation to address gun violence. House Democrats plan to follow Wednesday’s vote with another on Thursday for a bill to lengthen the review period for background checks, which is meant as a response to the 2015...

A Placerville man running for California state Senate to fill the seat formerly held by Ted Gaines was disappointed — but not surprised, really — when Google refused to run his advertising that featured him proudly showing a wild turkey he shot on his property in Lotus, along with the gun that bagged the bird. “That turkey was our Easter dinner last year,” said Theodore Dziuba, whose political career thus far is as a member of the Placerville Planning Commission. “It was taken with a clean shot, from about 10 yards away, during the spring turkey hunting season.” Dziuba, a...

Where did it all begin? What is the primary cause for what we are seeing in the past 35 years with school shootings? A) Prior to 1947, child raising was by role modeling parent’s strict upbringing, high expectations, moralist traditions, religious guidance, patterned family’s generations. The belt, wooden spoon, often the hand was commonly used in daily spankings. B) 1947 Dr. Spock published his book on Child rearing, within a decade a perceptible change began to develop in American families. Under Spock’s influence, parents watched their children become sassy, contentious; increasing numbers became juvenile delinquents and criminals. Over the last...

Commenting on the double standard the political left and the liberal media play -- conservatives are pilloried and leftists are coddled -- former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova explained that America is in a "civil war" now and that things will get much worse before they get better -- "total war." DiGenova, who also served as special counsel to investigate the Teamsters and as counsel to the Senate Select Intelligence Committee, made his remarks on the Feb. 21 edition of The Laura Ingraham Podcast. During the discussion, Igraham noted how the left and the liberal media work hand-in-hand to spin and...

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.) on Friday suggested a future Democratic president could confiscate citizens' guns based on the precedent of President Donald Trump's national emergency announcement regarding the border wall. Nadler, the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, appeared on CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time" to discuss Trump's announcement earlier in the morning. Trump declared it "necessary" to build the wall on the southern border. Host Chris Cuomo asked Nadler if enough Republicans would come out against Trump, prompting him to say, "I think so" and that he believes Republicans are terrified of unintended consequences. He speculated about other...

Sometimes it seems from reading posts on here that the average Freeper thinks that guns are pretty much banned in the UK. They aren't, though. Handguns are banned (unfortunately), but otherwise we have a reasonable choice of legal weaponry, including Accuracy International sniper rifles if you have £23K to spare. Semi-automatic rifles are limited to .22 rimfire, but bolt-action rifles are not. Here's a link to my nearest gun dealer, so you can see what's available this side of the pond: https://www.thecountryman.com/ Comments welcome - not trying to start any fights, just interested in opinions. Democrats this week approved legislation to require background checks for essentially all sales and transfers of firearms -- but rejected GOP-led efforts to amend the legislation to alert law enforcement authorities when gun buyers, including illegal immigrants, fail those background checks. The House Judiciary Committee voted in favor of the bill 23-15, in a strict party-line vote, sending it to the House floor. If approved by the full House, the bill would be the most significant gun-control legislation approved by either chamber of Congress in at least a decade -- although it stands little chance of passage in the Senate, where Republicans command a...
  • Man killed 5 in Illinois after gun background check missed felony conviction, police say

    02/16/2019 12:09:35 PM PST · by NoLibZone · 27 replies
Police say the fired worker who killed five people at a manufacturing warehouse in Aurora, Ill., on Friday was able to buy the gun he used because an initial background check didn't catch that he had a prior felony conviction in Mississippi. Aurora Police Chief Kristin Ziman said Saturday that 45-year-old Gary Martin was issued a firearm owner's identification card in January 2014 after he passed the initial background check. She said he bought the Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun on March 11, 2014, and that his 1995 felony conviction for aggravated assault in Mississippi wasn't flagged until he applied...

A man who was being let go from his job at a manufacturing business went on a shooting rampage at his workplace in Illinois, leaving five workers dead and five officers injured. Authorities identified the gunman in the mass shooting Friday as 45-year-old Gary Martin. He opened fire at the Henry Pratt Co. in the Chicago suburb of the Aurora, shooting at terrified employees before engaging in a gunbattle with responding officers. All the five employees who died in the shooting were men, police said. The shooter was killed during an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officials, Aurora Police...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday issued a warning to Republicans poised to support President Trump's decision to declare a national emergency at the southern border: the next Democratic president, she said, could do the same on guns. "A Democratic president can declare emergencies, as well," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "So the precedent that the president is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans." Pelosi noted that Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 students and faculty dead....

Now just how, you wonder, did we get from that rancid old slander about the malign political influence of Jewish money (“the Benjamins” in Ilhan Omar’s street lingo) to the National Rifle Association? Well, probably the same way Harvey Weinstein did when it was first revealed that he is a sexual predator who had used his status in Hollywood to cover up what was often described as “an open secret.” Facing disgrace and charges of rape, Weinstein also apologized — sort of — in a written statement he delivered to the New York Times, which began: “My journey now will...

One year after the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., the urgency for new gun restrictions has declined, but roughly half the country is concerned a mass shooting could happen at a school in their community, a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds. In the immediate aftermath of the mass shooting that killed 17 people on Valentine's Day, 71 percent of Americans said laws covering the sale of firearms should be stricter. Now, it's 51 percent. When it comes to whether stricter gun legislation should be an immediate priority for Congress, 42 percent say it should...

FULL TITLE: Dog called Donald Trump is shot dead by his owner's neighbor - but police insist the killing was NOT politically motivated A Minnesota sheriff says a dog named Donald Trump wasn't shot and killed over a political rivalry, despite false claims circulating on social media that have spurred 'violent threats' against some county residents. The Jackson County Sheriff's office concluded the person who shot Donald Trump the dog Sunday was 'legally protecting their livestock' on private property. The shooter has not been identified. The dog's owner, Randal Thom, 58, is an avid supporter of the president and has...

West Yorkshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Cheshire police handled more incidents than in any year since 2007-08. Overall gun crime in England and Wales is lower than 10 years ago, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. More than one in five victims of firearms offences, excluding air weapons, was aged under 20. Police believe that firearms crimes in some areas are linked to "county lines", where gangs move drug-dealing operations outside big cities to smaller towns. The figures, released on Thursday, come alongside statistics showing fatal stabbings at their highest level since records began in 1946.
