A previously unclassified creature that lived over 500 million years ago, considered the "Holy Grail of paleontology," has finally been identified, thanks to fossil fat. The creature, known as Dickinsonia, was previously found in northwest Russia near the White Sea. It had not been classified before, until other recently found Dickinsonia fossils showed the presence of organic tissue, allowing researchers to identify molecules of cholesterol, described as "a hallmark" of animals. Brocks added: “Scientists have been fighting for more than 75 years over what Dickinsonia and other bizarre fossils of the Edicaran Biota were: giant single-celled amoeba, lichen, failed experiments...

From the article: "some of the most important of the Soviet Union’s memetic weapons. Here is that list again: There is no truth, only competing agendas. All Western (and especially American) claims to moral superiority over Communism/Fascism/Islam are vitiated by the West’s history of racism and colonialism. There are no objective standards by which we may judge one culture to be better than another. Anyone who claims that there are such standards is an evil oppressor. The prosperity of the West is built on ruthless exploitation of the Third World; therefore Westerners actually deserve to be impoverished and miserable. Crime...

When California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford made the allegations in a letter to pro-abortion Senator Diane Feinstein that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh supposedly sexually assaulted her, she said four people were allegedly at the party where it happened. Ford made the allegations in a letter to pro-abortion Senator Diane Feinstein. The abortion activist held the letter since July from Ford detailing an alleged attack on her by Kavanaugh when they were in high school three decades ago. Suspiciously, Feinstein remained silent through the confirmation process and hearings until just days before a scheduled vote on his nomination. Kavanaugh...

Greek archaeologists expressed their concern on Monday over the abandonment by the state of the site of the mid-5th century BC Temple of Artemis Agrotera, which they described as "one of the most historically important archaeological sites in the center of Athens." The Ionic-style temple, dedicated to the Greek virgin goddess of the hunt was constructed of Pentelic marble. It stands on Ardittou street, in the neighbourhood of Mets, surrounded by modern buildings. In a press release titled "A monument in danger," the Association of Greek Archaeologists says that despite numerous decisions published by the Central Archaeological Council since 1964...

I, brother Odoric, a Czech from Turlania,...crossed the sea and visited the land of the unbelievers intending to harvest some of their souls. I will not mention all that I have seen...For I would have not believed it myself, if I had not heard it and seen it with my own ears and eyes. Thus begins the 'The Journey into the Empire of the Great Khan', a book of recollections written in the 14th century by Czech priest, Odoric of Pordenone, who set out for China in 1318, after being commissioned by the Pope to establish contact with the its...

In March, State Department veteran and former adviser to Barack Obama, Frederic Hof, bid farewell to public life with a stunning admission. Amid a confession regarding his failure to prevent the expansion of the Syrian civil war into a regional crisis, Hof laid the blame for that all-consuming conflict (as well as a notable uptick in Russian aggression) at the feet of Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. The administration sacrificed Syrian civilians and American credibility for the mistaken notion that Iran required appeasement in Syria as the price for a nuclear agreement,” Hof wrote. Today, with 500,000 dead, millions...

Back in 2004, John Kerry and George W. Bush squared off in their second debate. In one question, an audience member asked whether her tax dollars would be used to support abortion. Kerry gave a rambling, two-minute answer that ended with the affirmative. Bush stood up, walked over to her, and said directly to her, "Your tax dollars will not be used to support abortion." The next day was "Respect Life" Sunday for the Catholic Church. Not even a mention by the priest although he certainly discussed the issue of life. Kerry would go on to lose the election... but...

Law, we are told even in fifth grade, is something that applies to all without respect to wealth or status. And then a few years later the same notion gets drilled into our mushy skulls during civics class as high school freshmen. It's a noble ideal, and we like to think that the world follows America's example as a model of how under the rule of law, there are none deemed greater than others. Rich or poor, celebrity or obscure, politically affluent or peanut gallery... it doesn't matter. Here we are all equally accounted and equally accountable. And it is...

It is impossible to evaluate events in Russia today without understanding the mysterious series of bombings in 1999 that killed 300 civilians and created the conditions for Vladimir Putin to become Russia’s dictator for life. The bombings changed the course of Russia’s post-Soviet history. They were blamed on the Chechens. In the wake of initial success, Russia launched a new invasion of Chechnya. Putin, who had just been appointed prime minister, was put in charge of the invasion and his popularity soared. Six months later, he was elected president. On July 14, 2016, I filed a request for documents on...
