A new mobile app developed by U of San Diego Lecturer Brett Stalbaum allows people to "GeoLocate dangerous guns and owners." The app pinpoints the locations of homes, businesses and other sites where "dangerous" guns are located. British scientists on Tuesday reported they had harnessed the power of urine and were able to charge a mobile phone with enough electricity to send texts and surf the internet. Researchers from the University of Bristol and Bristol Robotics Laboratory in south west England said they had created a fuel cell that uses bacteria to break down urine to generate electricity, in a study published in the Royal Society of Chemistry journal Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics. Apple said Monday it would investigate claims that a Chinese woman was killed by an electric shock she received when answering a call while the device was charging. The claim quickly drew attention after a woman in the western region of Xinjiang wrote about the death of her 23-year-old sister Ma Ailun on China's popular microblog service Sina Weibo. A new report by the investment research firm Canaccord Genuity shows that Samsung beat Apple in US sales in May.
