The Royal Wedding: Proof that love is more appealing than comedy When tuning in to coverage of the Royal Wedding, there was a "nice" feeling of love, beauty, patriotism and happiness. That feeling was made very evident by the contrast of the feeling of a drag queen insult comic who Jay Leno's Tonight Show sent over to interview people in the crowd. But he/she didn't play well in that the (supposed) comedy took away from the feeling of the event. In fact it was downright embarrassing and even disgusting, not funny. An analogy would be: playing rap music during a...

The love, therefore, wherewith God loveth, is incomprehensible and immutable. For it was not from the time that we were reconciled unto Him by the blood of His Son that He began to love us; but He did so before the foundation of the world, that we also might be His sons along with His Only-begotten, before as yet we had any existence of our own. Let not the fact, then, of our having been reconciled unto God through the death of His Son be so listened to or so understood, as if the Son reconciled us to Him in...

Divine Mercy Diary Exerpts Jesus's words are in italics. St. Faustina's words are in regular print. "Your task is to write down everything that I make known to you about My mercy, for the benefit of those who by reading these things will be comforted in their souls and will have the courage to approach Me." (1693) "Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy." (300)

About six months after my son was born, he and I were sitting on a blanket at the park with a close friend and her daughter. It was a sunny summer weekend, and other parents and their kids picnicked nearby—mothers munching berries and lounging on the grass, fathers tossing balls with their giddy toddlers. My friend and I, who, in fits of self-empowerment, had conceived our babies with donor sperm because we hadn’t met Mr. Right yet, surveyed the idyllic scene. “Ah, this is the dream,” I said, and we nodded in silence for a minute, then burst out laughing....

We want what we can’t have, and this reality comes through in a new study that found women are more attracted to men when they can’t tell how much the males like them. Though the study, titled “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not … Uncertainty Can Increase Romantic Attraction”, was conducted on female undergraduates, one of the researchers said she believes the findings would also be true for males. But how did this phenomenon come about? Are we just bored by guys who are clearly into us, or do we simply enjoy torturing ourselves by being infatuated with people...

There are a great number of religious bodies today which advertise themselves as loving bodies of believers. This is fantastic and the way Christ’s Church should be identified. In fact, Jesus told his disciples the following in John 13:35: “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another”. The Bible has much to say about love. A scan of I Corinthians 13 lists a great number of attributes of love including patience, kindness, a lack of arrogance, proper behavior, and a desire for others betterment. God is love (I John 4:8)....

Many have been the times I have heard people say that obedience to God is not as important as our relationship with Him. People believe that God knows their heart and that if they have love for God in their hearts then His grace will somehow make up the difference between obedience and disobedience. I have spoken with people who say they have their own relationship with God and that they do not have to attend the assemblies of the saints or seek God's will through His word and live in obedience to that will. The purpose of this lesson...

Dear Media Matters: I just wanted to point out to you that the individual you allege is a “discredited activist,” James O’Keefe, has launched efforts that have led to ACORN losing financial support from taxpayers via Congress and ACORN was then forced into a re-organization, likely rendering them less effective. Additionally, NJ Governor Christie used a video from O’Keefe’s Project Veritas in his battle with the teachers union in New Jersey. And now at least two senior NPR executives have lost their jobs, one actually lost two, given that Ronald Schiller is no longer going to work for the Aspen...

There are cultural forces at work inside and outside the church that make me eager to defend my Father’s wrath against me before I was adopted. He does not need my defense. But I believe he would be honored by it. And he commanded us, “Honor your father” (Exodus 20:12). I write this from Cambridge, England, and my indignation about the assault on my Father is British-born. The calumny I have in mind is the following paragraph from a popular British writer: The fact is that the cross isn’t a form of cosmic child abuse—a vengeful Father, punishing his Son...

Divine Love By Elder Russell M. NelsonOf the Quorum of the Twelve ApostlesRussell M. Nelson, "Divine Love", Ensign, Feb. 2003, 20 While divine love can be called perfect, infinite, enduring, and universal, it cannot correctly be characterized as unconditional. In today’s world trembling with terror and hatred, our knowledge of divine love is of utmost importance. We bear responsibility to understand and testify that Heavenly Father and Jesus the Christ are glorified, living, and loving personages. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”...

The Two Loves of Valentine’s Day This February 14th multitudes around the world will be celebrating Valentine’s Day. Roses and candy for loved ones, jewelry and dinner dates - it seems harmless enough - but many truly do not understand the swift, underlying current of the mood of the occasion and how its “24/ 7” godless spirit affects our society and culture. Please do not misunderstand me. I do not want to ruin anyone’s Valentines Day. Those things (candy, roses etc.) are perfectly fine and harmless enough, but it is key during this holiday to understand the immoral, decadent spirit...

While entering into a oneness of worship with a small body of worshippers I heard The Spirit of The Lord release these words for your discernment . . . Do you see My children now you HAVE found your " FIRST LOVE " " WORSHIPPING ME " John 4:23 (Amplified Bible) 23A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. Revelation 2:3-5 (New American Standard Bible) 3and you have perseverance and...

Love may make the world go 'round, but is it powerful enough to lower one's blood pressure, reduce depression and speed the healing of an injury? With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we set out to find the answer and discovered that science says yes. "Our relationships help us cope with stress, so if we have someone we can turn to for emotional support or advice, that can buffer the negative effects of stress," says Julianne Holt-Lunstad, an associate professor of psychology at Brigham Young University, who has been publishing studies for the past 10 years on social relationships...

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. (Proverbs 12:10)Currently, there is an alternative to the judeo christian concept of love for our fellow-man, which is called tolerance. It looks like love and perhaps more importantly to many it actually feels like love, but it’s not love at all. In fact though it is called tolerance, it’s not even tolerance in the traditional sense of the word. A better expression would perhaps be fawning accommodation, but tolerance is what they are calling it these days. In this post christian era,...

When Jesus issued a new command to love one another to his disciples during the Last Supper, his order wasn’t that they go out and buy something for their girlfriends or wives; nor was he suggesting that they spring for dinner and the latest form of entertainment for some cute Jewish girl that might have caught their eye. This new command to love one another had nothing to do with how they might feel about someone: in fact, it had nothing to do with emotions at all. It had everything to do with a call to action.

During a Q&A with Ravi Zacharias and RZIM at Oxford, a homosexual man asks a question but really ends up encouraging those in the faith of the miraculous work of God in peoples changed lives. Something said during this exchange that really clicks with my understanding of this very important issue. Love. Most often — as I note often in my debates and posts on this topic (see below) — there is abuse or some family issue that drives these young men and women into this lifestyle. While I am more of a political-animal/armchair-philosopher and I deal with this issue...
