Just in time for Christmas: ATF Deputy Director Kenneth Melson as the Grinch. "Idle bureaucrats are the devil's playthings." So, the ATF doubles down on stupidity with this ruling from the Grinch. I can't wait to see the PR consequences of this one, and, better, what the GOP oversight committees dig out about the hows and whys of the agency covering for the oversteps of a moronic field supervisor. I love it. What I'd love even more is to watch while Melson takes his life in his own hands and actually SHOOTS one of these ATF-modified Airsofts while holding it....

The Machine Gun Shoot Competition happened at the Knob Creek Gun Range in Kentucky this weekend in which hundreds of machine gun dealers, owners and enthusiasts showed up to fire four rounds at random appliances and vehicles. The Knob Creek Gun Range websites describes this event with similar giddiness and rhetoric of a 13-year-old at a “Return of the King” premiere, stating: “..The charges are set off by the impact of the bullets. Creating large and small mushroom clouds and fire balls from hell!” It’s true. Astute men, women and judging from the FAQ sheet on their website inquiring what...

Michigan --(Ammoland.com)- Certain collectible guns bring out that “wow” factor. This is especially true of the vintage firearms from the Soviet Union that helped turn back the Nazi invaders and were carried by soldiers of the Red Army during the so-called Great Patriotic War. Of course actually trying to obtain a live firing version of the infamous PPSh-41 submachine gun, or DP-28 light machinegun can be no small challenge. Non-firing versions of both guns were once fairly common, but have since dried up. However, some of those old parts kits have been used to good effect by skilled gunsmiths such...

The U.S. Department of Defense recently ordered modification kits (for $5,700 each) for M2 12.7mm (.50 caliber) machine-guns. These kits upgrade existing weapons to the M2E2 standard and allow for quick barrel changes. Each barrel weighs 10.9 kg/24 pounds. There is also a mounting rail for scopes and a flash suppressor. Earlier this year, the Department of Defense also bought 8,000 more M2 machine-gun barrels (for $850 each). This M2E2 version is the best upgrade delivered for the M2 so far. There are others in the works. It was two years ago that the U.S. Department of Defense gave General...

Security along the DMZ has gone high-tech, as South Korea has quietly installed a number of machine gun-armed robots to serve as the first line of defense against the potential advance of North Korean soldiers. The stationary robots — which look like a cross between a traffic signal and a tourist-trap telescope — are more drone than Terminator in concept, operated remotely just outside the southern boundary of the DMZ by humans in a nearby command center. Officials refuse to say how many or where the robots have been deployed along the heavily fortified border between the two Koreas, but...

The Marine Corps will field its new, lightweight auto rifle this fall to five combat battalions preparing for war-zone deployments. Commandant Gen. James T. Conway gave Corps officials the green light in April to issue approximately 450 M27 Infantry Automatic Rifles, enough to replace every M249 squad automatic weapon in four infantry battalions and one light armored reconnaissance battalion. The limited fielding is a final test to find out if the Heckler & Koch-made weapon performs as well in an operational environment as it has in testing, said Charles Clark III, who oversees infantry weapons requirements at the Corps' Combat...

At the meeting Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl, both Republicans, got an earful from people who live in southeastern Arizona, along the border with Mexico. Huachuca City Mayor Byron Robertson told the lawmakers, "Last week when my police chief called me in and told me that an SUV-minivan had been stopped on I-10 with a 50-caliber machine gun mounted in the back and a rocket launcher."

Who knew that Obamacare provides for a “Regular Corps,” and a “Ready-Reserve Corps,” of officers and individuals who are appointed by the President? Commissioned officers are subject to active duty at the call of the Surgeon General. The new law provides $17.5 million in each of the first four years to recruit and train these reserves. During his campaign, Obama said “We cannot continue to rely only on our military…we’ve got to have a civilian security force just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the...

Being commander of the Catholic War Veterans Post 370 on Illinois 159 south of Belleville hasn't been particularly trying for Mike Anthony -- until they found the machine gun. "In January, when they found it, the guys called and said they needed to talk to me," Anthony said. "They showed me what they had. I thought it was a beautiful relic but I wondered what we could do with it." What they had was a Lewis .30-caliber machine gun, manufactured in 1917 by the Savage Arms Co. in Utica, N.Y., according to markings on the gun. "It was in the...

Earlier this month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Tacoma seized a shipment of 30 toy M-4 automatic rifles that had arrived on Oct. 20 in a 40-foot ocean container. The shipment's manifest listed the contents as "Toys and Parts" and was shipped from a manufacturer in Taiwan, according to a Customs and Border Protection news release. The rifles were the same size, weight and look of an M-4 automatic rifle, which is used by the U.S. military. The rifles had no serial numbers and did not have an orange-blaze tip which is required for all...

Seattle Gun Rights Examiner Dave Workman first brought us news of Bellevue Police Chief Linda Pillo testifying at a Washington State Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, supposedly as a private citizen, but conveniently in uniform and armed, to urge a ban on so-called "assault weapons." One of her reasons: Assault weapons can also be easily converted to fully automatic machine guns. This assertion didn't sit well with St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner Kurt Hofmann, who responded with "The 'easily converted to machine guns' myth makes a comeback." He in turn found a link to an old Southtown Star article, where a...

One of the people speaking in favor of the ban was Bellevue, WA police chief Linda Pillo. Mr. Workman points out a number of problems with her testimony, but I am going to focus on just...

U.S. Army infantry units are fighting in the mountains of Afghanistan with a special operations forces machine gun that’s 30 percent lighter than the standard M240B but still packs the killing power of 7.62mm NATO. Army weapons officials are fielding several hundred MK 48 MOD 1 machine guns in an effort to lighten the heavy loads ground forces, especially machine-gunners, struggle to carry over the country’s unforgiving terrain. The MK 48, made by FN Manufacturing LLC, was first adopted by Navy SEAL teams in 2000. The elite commando units needed a reliable 7.62mm machine gun that was light enough to...

What’s more, it’s indicative of the toxic, hate-filled atmosphere filling conservative protests of President Obama and his plans for health care reform. “Hardball” host Chris Matthews and his daytime colleagues at MSNBC, for example, have their used air time to marvel at what would possess an average American citizen to go to a...

MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- Mexican authorities arrested a woman guarding an arsenal that included the first anti-aircraft machine gun seized in Mexico, police said Tuesday, as the army announced the capture of an alleged top drug cartel lieutenant. The arsenal belonged to a group linked to the powerful Beltran-Leyva drug cartel, federal police coordinator Gen. Rodolfo Cruz said. It also included ammunition, five rifles, a grenade and part of a grenade launcher. ... Cruz said the confiscated .50-caliber, anti-aircraft machine gun can fire 800 rounds per minute and is capable of penetrating armor from more than 5,000 feet (1,500...

Grand jury indicts London physician on grenade charge BY LINDA SATTER ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Dr. Randeep Mann of Pope County was formally indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Little Rock on a single charge of possessing 98 unregistered grenades. Last month, Mann, 50, was arrested by federal agents after Pope County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from public works employees for the city of London who had stumbled upon a partially buried plastic bag in a wooded area. Inside the bag, buried 875 feet from Mann’s home, was a military canister containing the explosives, which were designed to...

Exciting Announcement From TGSCOM NFA laws have been repealed through a long standing court battle in the 7th US Circuit Court. The president of TGSCOM had sued the federal government on the grounds that the NFA law violated the Second Amendment of the Constitution. After heated and lengthy oral arguments, TGSCOM is now able to sell fully automatic weapons to the general public without tax stamps and the additional background check. The one stipulation to the agreement is that fully automatic rifles will be treated like handguns in that they will require a purchaser of 21 and older, the firearm...

LITTLE ROCK — A federal magistrate ordered a Pope County physician arrested last week on a weapons charge to remain in custody pending his trial. U.S. Magistrate H. David Young said he was concerned Dr. Randeep Singh Mann might flee the country if released. Mann, 50, was arrested March 4 after federal agents searched his home after a cache of unregistered, high-explosive grenades was found in the vicinity. Four unregistered firearms were found in his home in London, near Russellville. Mann was charged with illegal possession of the grenades with possible further charges pending over the unregistered guns, a federal...
