In the wake of President Barack Obama’s assertion that women “rely on” Planned Parenthood for mammograms, about 2,000 pro-life activists called Planned Parenthood offices to schedule appointments for the breast health service, according to the Catholic EWTN News. While Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms, however, it does offer breast exams and referrals. “When Governor Romney says that we should eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, there are millions of women all across the country, who rely on Planned Parenthood for, not just contraceptive care, they rely on it for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings. That’s a pocketbook issue for women...

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 18, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – The day before hundreds of pro-life activists prepared to flood Planned Parenthood’s offices with requests to schedule a mammogram, the organization issued a statement admitting that they do not offer the cancer screening procedure at any of their facilities. The calls were placed today as part of “Call Planned Parenthood to Schedule Your Imaginary Mammogram Day” – an event organized by pro-life activists in response to President Obama’s statement during the presidential debate Tuesday that the abortion organization offers mammograms. “There are millions of women all across the country, who rely on...

A deliberate effort is underway to rebrand Planned Parenthood as an integral provider of healthcare services, without which untold millions of women would lack basic medical care, or so the story goes. Thus, whenever any effort is made to cut off funding for the nation’s largest abortion provider and stalwart financier of leftist politicians, we’re told there is a “war on women.” But it’s not a “war on women” when a state simply places a higher priority on funds for true health services that Planned Parenthood doesn’t perform Take, for example, mammograms. Yes, mammograms. Perhaps there is no greater falsehood...

Slowly but surely the truth is coming out about Obamacare: Conservatives were right. Conservatives said Obamacare would cost trillions. Our intellectual and moral superiors on the left sneered. The CBO reported this week that Obamacare will cost nearly $1.8 trillion in the first 10 years alone — nearly double what Democrats said it would cost. And instead of reducing the deficit, Obamacare will increase the deficit. Conservatives said Obamacare would cost people their health insurance. Our intellectual and moral superiors on the left sneered. The CBO reported this week that Obamacare already has cost 4 million people their health insurance....

February 2, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a tense exchange with MNSBC’s Andrea Mitchell Thursday, the founder of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure explained that her group stopped funding Planned Parenthood because the abortion organization doesn’t actually provide cancer screenings, but simply refers patients to other clinics. While extreme vitriol has been aimed at the breast cancer foundation following the news of their decision this week, Komen founder and CEO Nancy Brinker says the decision was simply the result of putting “metrics, outcomes, and measures” to their grants for better use of funds. Mitchell objected, questioning Komen’s possible political...

Today I was in Costco. As I entered the papergoods area a demonstration woman approached me about a sale on Northern triple ply quilted bathroom tissue. It's my brand and I strongly support a soft 3 ply, but that's not my point. The demonstration woman went on to show me on the packaging that Georgia Pacific donates money to the Susan G Komen foundation. I stopped in my tracks and said " I wish you hadn't told me that. The Susan G Komen Foundation funds Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood ( or Planned Barrenhood) is the largest provider of abortions...

Mammograms? What mammograms? New video exposes Planned Parenthood false claim by Peter Jesserer Smith Wed Mar 30 11:11 AM EST WASHINGTON, D.C., March 30, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new Live Action sting operation on Planned Parenthood clinics across the country belies statements by Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood allies that cutting funding to the abortion giant would limit women’s access to health care services including mammograms. “If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are gonna lose their health care access - not to abortion services - to basic family planning, you know,...

Calls to de-fund and efforts to defend Planned Parenthood have reached a fever pitch in light of the potential shutdown on Capitol Hill, with Democrats pointing to Republicans’ unwillingness to drop Planned Parenthood cuts as the reason for an imminent government shutdown. “Republicans want to shut down our nation’s government because they want to make it harder for women to get the health services they need,” Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on the floor Friday. “This is indefensible and everyone should be outraged — men and women should be outraged.” Both sides have gone to the mat over...

Calls Confirm Planned Parenthood Misleads on Offering Mammograms Washington, DC -- The pro-life organization responsible for recent videos showing Planned Parenthood offering abortions to alleged sex traffickers who prey on women finds the abortion business is misleading about mammograms. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/03/30/calls-confirm-planned-parenthood-misleads-on-offering-mammograms/

Planned Parenthood Falsely Uses Mammograms to Defend Tax-Funding Washington, DC -- Reeling from a vote in the House of Representatives that would deny any and all taxpayer funding, the Planned Parenthood abortion business is turning to its non-abortion "services" to defend the need for the government dole. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/02/24/planned-parenthood-falsely-uses-mammograms-to-defend-tax-funding/

Late last year, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force changed their book of evidence-based guidelines for mammography screening in a way that caused significant disagreement in the medical community. The task force recommended against routine mammography screening for women before age 50 years and suggested that this breast cancer screening end at age 74 years. The guidelines also recommended changing the screening interval from one year to two years. Now, new data from a large Swedish study show that mammography screening in women aged 40 to 49 years results in a much greater reduction in mortality from breast cancer than...

Smelling blood after a Jerry Brown associate used the word “whore” in connection with Meg Whitman’s campaign strategy, Republican sources have provided a 15-year-old video of the Democratic gubernatorial hopeful dismissing mammograms in an old interview. The trip to the vault comes as Brown’s camp has been on defense after The Los Angeles Times reported on a conversation between him and an associate, inadvertently left on a police union official’s voice mail, in which he discussed Whitman and the unions and suggested she’ll cut a deal over pensions. Another person is heard on the recording saying, “What about calling her...

More frequent mammograms, seemingly on their way out under new federal guidelines last year, may be coming back. The final health-care bill is likely to require coverage for more mammograms than the new guidelines recommend after women's groups, doctors and imaging-equipment makers stepped up pressure on lawmakers -- one of many threads of the bill negotiated behind the scenes. Many doctors and patient groups have long supported early, frequent screening for breast cancer. In recent years, they joined forces with mammography companies -- striking sponsorship deals, for example, and holding joint events to promote breast-cancer awareness, as well as to...

Breast cancer screening just got more confusing today, as two medical organizations announced annual mammograms should begin at age 40, and earlier for high-risk women. The recommendations contradict a recent advisory for less frequent screenings beginning at age 50, not 40. The recommendations for less frequent mammograms, released in November, came from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, with panel experts saying they were responding to data showing routine mammograms starting at age 40 rarely saved lives and more often resulted in misdiagnoses that just fueled anxiety and debilitating treatment. This new advice, which is published in the January issue...

What kind of "health-care reform" is this that could make me replace my regular checklist of preventive-care tests for a "don't-check list" of exams I won't be able to order? Much of last week's Senate debate on health reform turned on a single screening exam, mammograms for women in their 40s. A government panel last month said the exams weren't cost effective, and critics quickly pointed to the recommendation as an example of the kind of rationing that would have teeth under ObamaCare.

The Health Department stops funding breast screenings for low-income women The "unprecedented fiscal challenges" claimed another victim this week as health officials decided to discontinue a cigarette tax-funded program that pays for breast cancer screenings for low-income women. The two biggest changes to the program according to a release are: They will stop paying for breast cancer screening for women under 50. They will stop enrolling all new patients for breast cancer screening until July 1.

For young women who have a high risk of breast cancer because of genetic mutations or family history, the radiation from yearly mammograms may make the risk even higher, researchers reported at a radiology conference on Monday. The report is particularly troubling because it suggests that the very women who are told they need mammograms most may also be the most vulnerable to harm from them. Doctors routinely urge high-risk women to have mammograms earlier in life and more often than women judged to be at average risk. Researchers caution that the new report is not conclusive, and that the...

Last week, on the eve of the Senate health care bill vote, the United States Preventative Services Task Force (I will publish the task force member names separately) released new guidelines for mammograms. The recommendations of this task force, (which I am told and the list seems to verify, includes no practicing oncologists or OB-GYN's, rather it is comprised of professors and heads of university departments, you know INTELLECTUALS, the kind that propose theoretical policy they are never stuck implementing themselves) offer new guidelines that propose women in their 40's no longer receive routine mammogram screening, rather the tests should...

Will mammograms sink the Health Care Bill in the Senate? The 16-member U.S. Preventative Services Task Force released its new recommendations on mammograms a few days ago. Talk about some outrage by its recommendations! It said they wanted to change the standard of once a year screenings for women over 40 every other year. Boy did the stuff hit the fan! Please allow me give you some quotes to aid in your evaluation of the situation; Dr. Daniel Kopans, head of breast imaging at Massachusetts General, “I think it is outrageous to reduce costs by taking away a test that...
