In Michigan, two Cane Corsos, a large breed descended from Roman war dogs, attacked a jogger.  A neighbor saw that the jogger was down with the dogs attacking him.   He  defended the attacked man with a .44 magnum, firing two shots, one in the air, the other at one of the dogs, grazing it.   That stopped the attack.   Later one of the dogs tried to return to the attack, but left when it saw the man with the gun.  From  freep.com: A man mowing his lawn waved at Sytsma, a 46-year-old Livonia man, who politely waved back....

I just picked up a new Ruger 77/44 bolt action and wondered if anyone here has any experience with them, or favorite loads/reloads for them? It is a SS 44 Mag bolt action carbine with an 18 1/2 inch barrel and Synthetic stock. Michigan just passed a law that will allow pistol cartridge rifles to be used for deer hunting in the 'shotgun zone', so I plan to use it for hunting deer. I'm thinking 240 grain semi-jacketed softpoints should do the job out to 125 yds or so.

Most of us don’t completely trust the government. We certainly don’t want government to be able to prevent us from getting information we want or need. Minbcnews.com is running a poll about a proposal in Michigan to make obtaining a concealed carry permit cheaper, faster and easier in the state.  The proposal would eliminate the nearly 100 year old county gun boards, which at present have little to do.   Under the proposal background checks would be run by the State Police instead of county boards.  The 83 County gun boards, which have been accused of delaying permits, would be eliminated. Ypsilanti’s children’s slides are free and clear of feces after the Ypsilanti Police recently identified a suspect in their hunt for the notorious "mystery pooper." Ypsilanti Police Chief Tony DiGiusti confirmed the department made contact with an individual believed to be the “mystery pooper” who regularly defecated on the same slide in Prospect Park between November and April. In a 2-2 vote Tuesday night, the Ypsilanti City Council struck down a resolution supporting gay marriage. The resolution would have added the city's name to an amicus brief in the case of DeBoer V. Snyder and Schuette, which is in U.S. District Court and will determine the legality of gay marriage in Michigan. Council members Dan Vogt and Brian Robb voted in support of joining the amicus brief.
