'Our Enemy Is Not Terrorism' The U.S. Naval Institute 130th Annual Meeting and Annapolis Naval History Symposium (2004) Address by Former Secretary of the Navy John Lehman We are at a juncture today that really is more of a threshold, even more of a watershed, than the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was in 1941. We are currently in a war, but it is not a war on terrorism. In fact, that has been a great confusion, and the sooner we drop that term, the better. This would be like President Franklin Roosevelt saying in World War II, "We are...
  • The Scandal of U.S.-Saudi Relations (IMPORTANT)

"When it comes to the Saudi-American relationship, the White House should be called the ‘White Tent.'"- Mohammed Al-Khilewi, a Saudi diplomat who defected to the United States[1] Consider two symbolic moments in the U.S.-Saudi relationship involving a visit by one leader to the other's country. In November 1990, President George H.W. Bush went to the Persian Gulf region with his wife and top congressional leaders at Thanksgiving time to visit the 400,000 troops gathered in Saudi Arabia, whom he sent there to protect that country from an Iraqi invasion. When the Saudi authorities learned that the President intended to...
  • My solo Freep against Moveon.org last night (long but good)

It has been a very busy 12 hours of Freeping by this Freeper, culminating with this morning's action at the Today Show-but more on that later. It actually started last night when I had the opportunity to Freep not one but a pair of functions sponsored by Moveon.org. For more than six months I've been chomping at the bit to have a chance to Freep Moveon but it has not worked out. Last night I was able to Freep Moveon along with manure Mike's new movie and in essence killed two birds with one stone.

  • Where can I get a corporate Halliburton Shirt? Vanity

Someone's Halliburton t-shirt thread just got pulled, but it made me think of a question. I have been looking for some time to get a real corporate Halliburton t-shirt? I checked around the web and their corporate site and could not find anything. The "I love Halliburton" t-shirts are great, but I prefer the more corporate look... just the t-shirt with the Halliburton logo on it. I would love to wear the shirt around town! Thanks so much,

'I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." -- Bill Clinton, wagging his finger at us in 1998. "I think I did something for the worst possible reason -- because I could." -- Bill Clinton, hawking his book in 2004. "Sorry ... we're hibernating while designing for next season. No one home in customer service either." -- Message on handbag designer Monica Lewinsky's Web site. William Jefferson Clinton's long-awaited, 957-page autobiography, My Life, lands with a gigantic thud in bookstores today, and I think he might even be doing some publicity to promote the book. It's already...

(CNSNews.com) - A new study on food safety reveals that organic produce may contain a significantly higher risk of fecal contamination than conventionally grown produce. A recent comparative analysis of organic produce versus conventional produce from the University of Minnesota shows that the organically grown produce had 9.7 percent positive samples for the presence of generic E. coli bacteria versus only 1.6 percent for conventional produce on farms in Minnesota. The study, which was published in May in the Journal of Food Protection, concluded, "the observation that the prevalence of E. coli was significantly higher in organic produce supports the...
  • UN inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before war and after

    06/11/2004 1:17:07 PM PDT · by freebilly · 207 replies · 9,577+ views
The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003. The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program. The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite...

Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003 AP Now Even the French Hate the French The frogs are in a stew over their "growing sense of France's decline," the International Herald Tribune reported today. Yes, "for the first time in a half century ... the notion of a rapid descent in France's influence is receiving wide acknowledgment within the French establishment." So-called intellectuals - we realize this term is a stretch in the land of the National Socialists' accomplices - are admitting "that French leadership, as it is constituted now, is not something Europe wants - or France merits," the newspaper revealed. Best-selling...

<p>"It's my mess," Tony lamented to Dr. Melfi last night. 'All my choices were wrong."</p> <p>Maybe so. But unlike the black bear he so often resembles, Tony finally figured out how to clean up after himself.</p> <p>And, for once, David Chase and his writers didn't leave a lot of clutter lying around for the notoriously fickle beast that is the "Sopranos" fan base to sift through during the long, cold wait between seasons.</p>
