(CNSNews.com) - Turning on the Christmas lights on a house or a Christmas tree this November cost Americans more on average than it has before, as the seasonally adjusted electricity price index hit an all-time high in the United States in November, according to data released last week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average price for a kilowatt hour of electricity also set a record for the month of November, according to BLS.

(Sept. 11, 2001 hijackers Hani Hanhour (right) and Majed Moqed (left) at an ATM machine on Sept. 5, 2001.) (CNSNews.com) - The number of Saudi Arabian students in the United States has increased by more than 500 percent since Sept. 11, 2001--when Hani Hanjour, a Saudi national who came here on a student visa flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, killing 189 people. According to the Institute of International Education--whose numbers on foreign students in the United States are used in official reports published by the U.S. Department of Education--there were 5,579 Saudi nationals enrolled in U.S....

At 10:08 a.m. Eastern time, nearly 12 hours after the slaying of an MIT police officer sparked a crime spree by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, the first peep of news was heard from the White House. It wasn’t any sort of official statement or updated guidance, but the first report from the White House press pool. A White House official said shortly after 9:45 a.m. President Obama, joined by Vice President Biden, “convened a briefing in the White House Situation Room with his national security team on developments in the investigation as well as the events in Boston and...

The Obama campaign on Saturday quietly released a web video featuring President Obama talking about his faith. The video includes various faith leaders describing how there is moral, even Biblical, backing for his policies on issues ranging from higher taxes for top earners to health care to the auto bailout. The video opens with the president at the National Prayer Breakfast where he says, “In my moments of prayer, I’m reminded that faith and values play an enormous role in motivating us to solve some of our most urgent problems.” Woven throughout the video are statements by persons of faith...
  • Could there be a Muslim president? (Would you vote for one?)

With the New Hampshire primaries behind the GOP and South Carolina on the horizon, Mitt Romney seems the likely presidential candidate. Perhaps surprisingly, Romney’s Mormonism has yet to be a major stumbling block, and as time passes it doesn’t appear that it will become a hindrance. But let’s consider another question. Could America vote for a Muslim? Say a Muslim arrived on the scene with powerful and equitable ideas and challenged the status quo. Perhaps doubts are cast that a Muslim could actually become president, but the same was once said about Catholics and people of color. One stumbling block...
  • Obama Administration Not Keen on Congressional Calls to Crack Down on Iran’s Central Bank

(CNSNews.com) – Following the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s latest report on Iran, the Obama administration appears to be cool on some of the tougher steps members of Congress are proposing, such as bringing down the Central Bank of Iran. Russia and China, meanwhile, look unlikely to withdraw their customary support for Tehran, complicating any attempt to strengthen U.N. sanctions. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there was “credible” evidence that Iran carried out “activities relevant to the development of a nuclear device” as part of a “structured program” until the end of 2003 – when Iran is known to have...

The Arab reaction to the president’s Middle East speech as reported by the Christian Science Monitor is reminiscent of the responses to the failing Mubarak: they’ve seen Obama give, now they want to see him give some more. “While those involved in Arab uprisings welcomed Obama’s support, others were disappointed with his failure to apologize for US support for Middle East dictators.” Once you start giving to the crowd, you can’t stop giving. In giving his speech the president may have done three things, none of which he quite intended. First, he has essentially denounced as evil and misguided, though...

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is endorsing the Palestinians' demand for their future state to be based on the borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war, in a move that will likely infuriate Israel. Israel says the borders of a Palestinian state have to be determined through negotiations.

Have you wondered why Obama hasn't asked Gadhafi to step down after he has killed hundreds if not thousands of his own people; especially, after he told Mubarak he had to step down because of demonstrations. Surprise, Obama has had very close ties with the man who ordered and financed the Lockerbie bombing. Gadahfi is a madman, a homicidal psychopathic maniac; yet our president wants to give him the benefit of the doubt. Gadahfi speaks well of Obama, last September at the United Nations, he referred to Obama as "My son" or "Our son" on several occasions. "Can you guarantee...

The U.S. informed Arab governments Friday that it will support a U.N. Security Council statement reaffirming that the 15-nation body "does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity," a move aimed at avoiding the prospect of having to veto a stronger Palestinian resolution calling the settlements illegal. But the Palestinian's rejected the American offer following a meeting late Wednesdy of Arab representativs and said it is planning to press for a vote on its resolution Friday, according officials familar with the issue. The decision to reject the American offer raised the prospects that the Obama adminstration may cast...

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama repeatedly has called the United States a “big, messy Democracy" in his many campaign stops around the country in recent weeks. “I know that a lot of times people wonder, gosh, you know, why did it take -- why did health care take so long [to pass]?” Obama said at a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) fundraiser in a private home in Providence, R.I on Monday. “Well, this is not a monarchy we live in. This is a democracy. And it’s a big, messy democracy. “And there’s supposed to be debate, and there’s supposed to...

Barack H. Obama 666 Pennsylvania Ave Washington, DC 20006 Dear Sir, I cannot tell you how much we appreciate your budget cuts, your cancellation of the space shuttle and any replacement launch vehicle for it, forcing us to rely on Russian Soyuz ships and their space program, which can’t even seem to dock with the ISS Space Station. Your wise decision in this regard, as well as your cancellation of any return trip to the moon, has caused us to reevaluate many of our programs, including the search for intelligent life on earth. We understand of course that space exploration...
  • Did Obama Respond Too Late to Terror Plot? Critics Assail President

The Obama administration has come under fire from critics who said the president waited too long to address the nation publicly about the Christmas Day terror plot, and that his administration has not been tough enough on terrorism. The mostly partisan attacks came after Friday's attempt by a Nigerian national to blow up Northwest Flight 253 as it approached Detroit. Terror plots in the past have tended to unite the two parties, but recent attacks have departed from that norm. President Obama has ordered a sweeping review of how the suspect managed to board the flight from Amsterdam, but that...

A guide to which minority group has the best chance to win the White House next. At long last, my people have an answer to the question "When will we have a Jewish president?" The answer, it turns out, is "Not before we have a black president." I imagine that all ethnic groups play this game of "when will one of ours get there?" (The question is especially common among Jews, since we're sort of white and used to success at other jobs—law, medicine, swimming.) But now that a half-African man with Muslim ancestors has defeated, for the presidency, an...
