MEGAN TENCH Obama’s image problem America needs him to play the role he’s been avoiding — angry black man By Megan Tench | July 25, 2010 IN MANY ways, President Obama’s image has been brilliantly constructed. He has gingerly walked that fine line of being both black and yes, the new buzz word: post racial. His consultants should be congratulated as Obama has managed to be perceived as scholarly, trustworthy, and likeable, and avoid the uglier stereotype of being an “angry black man.’’ But now on cable news shows, in recent polls, at dining room tables across America, Obama is...

This is a story about living the good life. Or not the good life, exactly, in the Italian, dolce vita understanding of the term. It’s more about living the better life, a comparative way of living. It’s about living better than I was before, living better than I once thought possible, living better, if you’ll forgive my candor, than do you. Here, I use “you” to loosely mean “conservative” or even “disengaged liberal.” For living better than you is all about honesty. Honesty with you. Honesty with myself. So I’ll just level with the two of us: I used to...

I have put together a political music video which parodies 2 songs from Pink Floyd's "The Wall". It is very hard hitting, and intentionally disturbing. A very short taste or preview is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGEewPKkU5E What I need is some like minded freepers to preview the entire video which I will upload later tonight for private viewing. If you would like to help, I will need you to PM me here with your youtube user id, and either send a youtube friend request, or accept my invite I send to you later. The full video is complete, but what I...

BO: OOF! You sure gotta climb a lot of steps to get to this Capitol Building here in Washington. I think I'll go golfing instead. But I wonder who that sad 700 gazillion barrel plume of black liquid is out there in the Gulf? I'm just a spill. Yes, I'm only a spill. And I'm bearing down on Capitol Hill. Well, it's a long, long way Until BO can leave this morass. It's a long, long wait While He looks to kick someone's a**. But I know I'll bring Him ruin someday At least I hope and pray that I...

“My Hesitation” (Sung to ‘My Generation’ by The Who) A little bit of "wise-guy" humor... People cry “You putted a-around!” (Talkin' 'bout my hesitation) … Just because we can’t shut-down (Talkin' 'bout my hesitation)… The thing may spew sh*t out of control (Talkin' 'bout my hesitation)… My hope's n’ lies, thirty four days old. (Talkin' 'bout my hesitation)… This is my hesitation! This is my hesitation, baby … I “dropped the ball,” R-Rush did say (Talkin' 'bout my hesitation)… And “Don't lie; you rigged this big d-d-delay!” (Talkin' 'bout my hesitation)… “You’re just trying to cause a big d-d-depravation” (Talkin'...

There’s some silly notions that are circulating among people about governance; things like: - Words mean things - Constitutions are a form of legally binding documents - Constitutions should be changed only by the appropriate amendment process and - Constitutions actually matter to those in governance. Let’s look at this properly, shall we, if words actually meant things we might actually be forced to be culpable for anything we say; but, because words are so mutable, we have an ‘escape hatch’ to use should any of our peons (commonly called ‘constituents’) try to “use our own words against us.” There...

Hitler “Downfall” Parodies Removed from YouTube The movie studio responsible for the award-winning, German-Austrian film Downfall (German: Der Untergang) has asked YouTube to take down several videos from the massively popular subtitled “Hitler finds out…” meme, and the site has complied. Search YouTube and you’ll still find hundreds of Downfall parodies, but click through to some of the bigger ones and you’ll now get the message, “This video contains content from Constantin Film, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.” According to TechCrunch, the first Downfall parody to be taken down was the one about the iPhone 4G leak, but...

YouTube has recently begun removing videos that feature content from Constantin Films' 2004 film, Der Untergang ("Downfall"), despite the fact that many of these videos are parodies and thus constitute fair use of the material. The Downfall, or Hitler-parody, meme has been, arguably, a viral spat of publicity for Constantin Films in the past few years. The meme takes a now-infamous scene from the movie (the scene in which Hitler reacts to the news that Germany is about to lose the war) and puts satirical subtitles over the action (the movie is in German). Hitler parodies have been made for...

So... the new iPad has been out for less than a week, and the reviews are starting to come in. I picked mine up on opening day, and have had a chance to take it for a test drive. The iPad is truly different than any device I've ever used. But a serious question remains. As the country moves from capitalism to socialism, is there a need for the iPad? Shouldn't all Americans just use the Obama-Pad and be happy? Here's the review... you decide.

The military must reflect the burgeoning civilian utopia it protects. With the passage of his signature health control legislation, President Obama has unprecedented momentum to restructure American society as he wishes — which means completely. It takes a long time to put together legislation to control three hundred million people, and the time to continue is right now: President Obama and the congressional leadership have now learned that, if you have enough chutzpah, anything is possible in American politics and there’s little to nothing that Republicans can do about it.
