Based on a true story - In April, 2004, casualties mount in Iraq. At Quantico, choices focus on increasing troop strength or only replacing casualties. Lt. Col. Mike Strobl crunches numbers. Stung by his superior's rejection of his recommendation because he lacks recent combat experience, Strobl volunteers for escort duty, accompanying the remains Pfc. Chance Phelps, killed at 19. From Dover to Philadelphia by hearse, from there to Minneapolis and on to Billings by plane, and then by car to Phelps' Wyoming home - person after person pays respects. Kind words, small gifts, and gratitude are given Strobl to deliver...

Although there is no bus tonight due to the Memorial Day weekend there were more uniformed soldiers leaving on foot than we usually see. Most of the evening passing cars gave us loud honks and waves. Our flags and signs were in good hands. Meanwhile TammyCat and VictoryNY loudly express Support for our Troops. We were joined by Diane, mother of a wounded warrior, Allen. She is proudly holding the 82nd Airborne DN flag. We hope to see her again and wish Allen the best in his recovery. We had a good group this evening and filled the four...

I would like to say something about the men and women who serve in the US Military. On this Memorial Day (as always) I'd like to say how much I respect and admire the thousands of Americans who served in the past and who serve now in the defense of this country and American interests. What I know personally about the sacrifices and hardships of military service, I know from what my father told me. He is gone now, but I will never forget his quiet and sure conviction of having served honorably…and the dignity with which he and his...

…the faith and LOVE that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel… Col 1:5 How refreshing it was to listen to a leader in the Joint Sessions sharing his love for America, Israel and Freedom nearly as much as our Premier hates them. The difference couldn’t be more stark as Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered one of the most pro American speeches ever to be given in the Well of the House completely destroying our Divider in Chief. After 29 standing ovations...

After almost three months, the MOAB (Mother Of All Banners) returned to the front gates of Walter Reed! Rain and high winds had kept the MOAB down. But not today. Sunny and mid 70’s, perfect weather to be in front of Walter Reed showing support to our wounded warriors and their families. Military Appreciation Month continues through Memorial Day. An attempt to erect a monument to U.S. soldiers killed in combat ran into a snag when the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) forbade the display of the American flag at the site. The site is located between a highway exit ramp and a park-and-ride lot in the town of Orcutt, California. “Transportation facilities serve travelers from many nations,” CalTrans spokesman Alfred Dimson pointed out. “American troops have killed the soldiers of many of these countries. A flag celebrating only American troops is a non-neutral expression of support for a single side in events where others took an opposing side....

Looks like the flag-burner thought twice about his plan. The fact that 1,000 people showed up in a surly mood for the festivities might have had something to do with it. All in all, not a bad outcome.

Color me happy. For the first time in over 10 years, crowds of Americans are waving flags and singing the Star Spangled Banner, celebrating an American victory - the death of bin Laden. Who'd a thunk? Just when I felt progressives had succeeded in turning America into a self-loathing, guilt ridden, multicultural sycophant to world opinion, I see hope that maybe our nation will be able to retain the pride in our accomplishments that has been under assault for so long. How about those Navy Seals?!!

After the initial wave of jubilation that followed the announcement of Osama bin Laden's death, the political analysis has begun and the liberal media consensus seems clear: this is an enormous political victory for the President, and it all but guarantees a 2012 election victory for President Obama. The first part of this is true; it must be conceded that this is an enormous feather in the cap of Mr. Obama, and while there are those of us who will roll our eyes at his failure to acknowledge the contribution of his predecessor to the operation, the feather is deserved....

THERE’S MORE TO IT THAN A SIMPLE BIRTH CERTIFICATE It’s a simple question. Why does Barack Obama appear to be so un-American to so many Americans? First of all, let’s not confuse “un-American” with anti-American here. Barack Obama is generally the former rather than the latter. Heightened interest in Donald Trump’s obsession with Obama’s non-birth certificate, and Jerome Corsi’s coming book, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?” is in large part, driven by a desire to understand why this president behaves the way he does. It’s simply part of the attempt to solve the elusive puzzle that is Barack Obama. Continuing questions...

Everytime I mentioned it today, I got weird looks, but I really expected to see some respect for the date from Freepers. 4/19 is the anniversary of colonial patriots picking up their muskets and telling the worlds foremost military power that they weren't taking anymore. Did anyone else notice, or has our educational system brainwashed everyone into thinking these were radical racists that were too greedy to bend over and take it from King George?

This Patriots' Day, the 236th Anniversary of the Opening Salvo for American Liberty, The Spirit of Their Sacred Honor Endures "Citizens by birth or choice of a common country, that country has a right to concentrate your affections. The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations." --George Washington A young reader in the Czech Republic contacted me recently with a question. (Yes, The Patriot Post's message of Liberty is global.) She wrote, "We as a Czech family subscribe to The...

When Obama was elected, I feared that he would be a pacifist, and not use military power when America’s vital interests were threatened. What I did not foresee is that he would use it when our vital interests were not threatened − and even allow France (France!) to pressure him into a war. Yes, a war. Aiding one side in a civil war is itself an act of war − not authorized by Congress, however. Of course, anything looks simple if you have no idea what the job actually demands. Speaking of dilettantes, I am reminded of a quotation from...

What's next: MSNBC hawking "America: Love It Or Leave It" bumper stickers? The new fashion among the liberal network's anchors is to accuse critics of President Obama's Libya policy of being unpatriotic. Last week, we documented how Cenk Uygur did it. Now, it's Ed Schultz's turn. The man recently relegated to the 10 PM slot went on an extended rant last night, repeatedly accusing Republican critics of the Libyan operation of being unpatriotic. Schultz set the tone with his opening graphic. As you see in the screengrab, he branded Sarah Palin and John Bolton as "patriots, not" for questioning the...

A few months ago I picked up several books at a resale store- among them was one titled "Song of America"- the story of an Armenian immigrants journey to, and life in, America. A couple of days ago, being out of reading material, I picked it up...

The Storm: Next Friday night, a group calling themselves Iraq Veterans Against the War, have announced they will join the moonbats in front of Walter Reed. They are part of the Veterans For Peace Rally and Action at the White House on March 19. We are asking all Support the Troops patriots to join the DC Chapter of Free Republic next Friday, March 18, between 6:45 pm until shortly after 9:15 pm. Mrs Trooprally sent the following after action report: Walter Reed was certainly busy last night with cars arriving and leaving all night with lots of honks and...

There are too many white men in the U.S. military. So says a report released this week by the Military Leadership Diversity Commission (MLDC), commissioned by Congress to examine ways to "increase diversity" in the military. The MLDC report finds that 77% of active-duty senior officers are white, 8% black, 5% Hispanic, and 16% women (of unspecified race). What's the answer to this "problem"? Is the MLDC recommending that white males stop volunteering for military service? Do they want to start "selecting" who among them volunteers for service? Are they recommending that there be quotas for military service, as with...

If Republicans in Wisconsin feel like lightning rods for liberal wrath, they ought to try living in Cambridge. Just ask Todd Hyde, who called to vent about tattered flags. “I’ll tell you what it’s like for someone like me, a registered Republican in Cambridge,” he said. “One day I saw this guy who lives up the street walk over to a kid who was getting into a pickup truck. His arms began flailing, like he was very upset, but the kid just shrugged and drove away. Now the guy’s coming towards me. At the time I was working for FedEx,...
