Researchers in Germany have unearthed 400,000 year old wooden spears from what appears to be an ancient lake shore hunting ground stunning evidence that human ancestors systematically hunted big game much earlier than believed. The three spears, each carved from the trunk of a spruce tree, are 6 feet to more than 7 feet long. They were found with more than 10,000 animal bones, mostly from horses, including many obviously butchered. That indicates the ancient hunters were organized enough to trap horses and strong enough to kill them by throwing spears, perhaps ambushing herds that showed up for water. “There’s...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Citing pressing concerns over Joe Biden’s mental instability after the President got lost in the White House lawn, Kamala Harris has petitioned the judge presiding over Britney Spears’ case for a similar conservatorship of Mr. Biden. "If the judge thinks Britney Spears is incapable of making her own decisions, deciding about Joe will take five seconds flat,” said Ms. Harris. “Just yesterday, the man gave an hour-long interview to a sock. Then he yelled at a parking meter for not spitting out a gumball, and later I had to spend thirty minutes convincing him that Jen Psaki wasn't really...

There are heroes among us — American heroes who’ve fought to keep the freedom we cherish so dearly. Heroes like George Spears. And in his 97 years (almost 98), Spears has seen more and done more for this country than most of us could imagine. “I landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, within the first hour,” Spears said. The Fort Worth native was just 22 years old, a U.S. Army staff sergeant serving in Europe, when he found out he’d be a part of the forces that would land on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, better...

The spears (which...

'As soon as the pirates get a blast of Britney, they move on as quickly as they can,' says merchant naval officerIn an excellent case of "here's a sentence you won't read every day", Britney Spears has emerged as an unlikely figurehead in the fight against Somali pirates. According to reports, Britney's hits, including Oops! I Did It Again and Baby One More Time, are being employed by British naval officers in an attempt to scare off pirates along the east coast of Africa. Perhaps nothing else – not guns, not harpoons – is quite as intimidating as the sound...

Britney Spears turns 30 today. Which means the singer can finally close the book on her 20s -- that turbulent decade that saw her start as one of the biggest pop stars in the world, then hurtle through a nightmare progression of breakdowns, marriages, divorces, hospitalizations, a disastrous MTV VMA performance, a head-shaving incident and the loss of custody of her children. What has happened to Spears over the course of the last decade is enough to fill a book the size of a Dickens novel. Unless you've been a regular reader of the gossip sites, you may have missed...

Republican Leader Rep. Eric Cantor is unimpressed with all the uproar over the revelation that he attended a Britney Spears concert while President Obama convened the second primetime news conference of his presidency. "I don't know why that's an issue whatsoever," said the House Minority Whip. "There was a concert and I had a political event at that concert. Look, that is why I was there." I love how Wolf Blitzer and the CNN crew try to mock Cantor. I think Cantor's explanation is great. And who cares? There's 800 Billion things I would rather have done than watch Obama's...

[Here's the writer's paradox for the day -- do you still write a post that made you think "Hey, here's a clever way to show how UN-clever writing naughty lyrics is"? Are you stooping to their level or are you making a point? I'm afraid it's the former, but in the interest of the latter, I'll go ahead and post it...]Ok I heard about Britney's new song, because apparently *gasp* it's stirred up some controversy! Yep, just like Madonna, http://www.lovehateoprah.com/lovehateoprah/2008/08/desperately-seeking-soupcon-of-relevance.html , La Brit has grabbed her crotch harder and expects us to pay her some attention.Well, I'm on board that parents have to be...

Perhaps someone involved with Britney Spears' tour should be put in charge of circling important dates on the calendar – like the day the clocks spring forward. Daylight Savings Time apparently snuck up on Spears, so her show Sunday night at the St. Pete Times Forum was pushed back from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. No problem, apparently, for what appeared to be a capacity crowd. Judging from the text messages being flashed on the screen during intermission – professing love and worship and declaring Spears "r queen," she could have held the show at 2 a.m. in a minefield...

Well folks Britney Spears, the queen of comebacks has done it again. After the previous years' meltdown which lead to her being hospitalized twice at UCLA as well as her being placed under emergency guardianship, Britney Spears is back again like a boomerang. Already there is talks of a movie deal and perhaps another sleazy album. But the road back up has been long and hard and although she is now seeking treatment for "Bipolar" disorder, psychiatrists in charge of her care may be doing more to undermine her mental health than promote it. Britney Spears was incarcerated in UCLA's...
