A bleg for Latin experts, sorta: St. Malachy's list of popes is usually expressed as referring to a final pope, Peter the Roman. In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End.I just found out that this was written in two paragraphs! In persecutione extrema S.R.E. (Holy Roman Church) sedebit. Petrus Romanus, qui paſcet oues in multis tribulationibus: quibus tranſactis ciuitas ſepticollis diruetur,...

Rome, Italy, Jun 25, 2016 / 06:02 am (CNA/EWTN News).- What is Benedict XVI's own view of his historical resignation? What has the fall-out been from his secretary Archbishop Georg Gänswein's controversial remark on an “expanded petrine office”? What about the “Prophesy of Malachy,” which allegedly sees Francis as the last pontiff? In a recent and candid conversation, veteran journalist and EWTN Rome correspondent Paul Badde sat down with Archbishop Gänswein, who gave his take on these and a number of other questions. The German archbishop currently serves Pope Francis as Prefect of the Papal Household, and has also maintained...

Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus, quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, & judex tremendus judicabit populum suum. Finis. I am generally skeptical of the St Malachy prophecy, but seemingly it appears to be coming fulfilled.

2013 Be Not Afraid: Catholic Families and the Prophecies of St. Malachy By Donald Prudlo, Ph.D. The announcement of the renunciation of Pope Benedict and the preparations for the conclave have once again brought to light the so-called “Prophecy of the Popes,” sometimes attributed to St. Malachy. At every papal election, these “prophecies” are trotted out, with the attendant tortured explanations about how their trite, nebulous descriptions fit whoever the pope in question is.  During this election some have been especially alarmed that the prophecies end with the next pontificate. It is good to give this issue a brief consideration...

Sunday, March 10, 2013 St. Malachy: The Case for Authenticity While we all wait with anticipation for the election of our next Holy Father at the Conclave next Tuesday, let's take a minute to stop and bring some sanity back to the discussion of the prophecies of St. Malachy. As we get closer to the Conclave, more and more articles on the alleged prophecies of St. Malachy are being posted all over the web, usually from mainstream, conservative Catholics who are bent on drumming into people's heads that the prophecies are forgeries and that serious Catholics should not pay them...

Are Cardinals Electing The Last Pope? If You Believe Nostradamus... By Carol Grisanti, Producer, NBC News ROME— (snip) According to an ancient prediction, this next pope will be the last. That theory dates back more than 900 years to when Malachy O’Morgair, the 12th century Archbishop of Ireland, had a vision. Legend has it that St. Malachy, as he is now known, had a strange dream while on a visit to Rome. He “saw” all the names of the future popes – complete with identifying characteristics – who would rule the church until the end of time. In his book,...
  • Resigning Pope Benedict XVI Brings Doomsday Prophecy (St. Malachy's 12th Century Prophecy)

    Discovery News ^ | Feb 13, 2013 | Rossella Lorenzi
Resigning Pope Brings Doomsday Prophecy Is the world only a Pope away from the End? Yes, if you believe a chilling 12th-century prophecy. Attributed to St. Malachy, an Irish archbishop canonized in 1190, the Prophecy of the Popes would date to 1139. The document predicted that there would be only 112 more popes before the Last Judgment — and Benedict XVI is 111. The list of popes originated from a vision Malachy said he received from God when he was in Rome, reporting on his diocese to Pope Innocent II. The story goes that St. Malachy gave the apocalyptic list...

Saint Malachy  Prophecies about 112 popes until the end of the world. Note: The Church does not lean on private revelation for doctrinal matters, but it does not oppose to the faithful obtaining benefit from them so long as they don't go against our faith.   This analysis focuses on the last five Popes in the context of the prophecies of Saint Malachy. + + +   Saint Malachy was born in Amagh Ireland in 1094, he lived a religious life as a monk, then he was ordained priest and finally Bishop. He was canonized in 1199 by Pope Clement III....

I hate to encourage any silliness about the prophecy of St. Malachy, which supposedly list every pope from Pope Celestine II (AD 1143). But I just found out that everyone who's been going around citing how Benedict XVI is the last Pope before Petrus Romanus has been following the same wrong translation. There is no numbering of the popes. Each phrase is simply interpreted as referring to a separate pope. The last several popes are listed as such: De medietate lunæ. De labore ſolis. Gloria oliuæ. In Psecutione extrema S.R.E. ſedebit. Petrus Romanus, qui paſcet oues in multis tribulationibus: quibus...

PROPHECIES COME TO SCREEN UNITED STATES distributors have pulled out of talks about a major new movie about an Irish saint who predicted that the world would end soon after the reign of Pope John Paul II. The move comes against the background of the attacks on America and the bombing of Afghanistan. End of Times will star top Hollywood actor Martin Sheen as a renegade monk who tries to head off disaster by blocking the election of a world leader. The producer of the huge project says until recently the prophecies of St Malachy seemed 'far fetched'. But ...
  • Prophecy points to "Olive" Pope

Rome, April 11 (Reuters): Maybe it describes the colour of his skin or place of birth. But the next Pope will be the “Olive” Pope, according to a 12th century prophecy that foresees just two remaining pontificates before the end of the world. The often-cited — and contested — prediction is attributed to St Malachy, an Irish archbishop recognised by members of the church for his ability to read the future and who was canonised more than 800 years ago. St Malachy was said to have had a vision during a trip to Rome around 1139 of the remaining 112...

Beware you wicked people! Doomsayers Say Benedict Fits World End Prophecy ROME (Reuters) - Pope Benedict's ascent to the papacy took a conclave of 115 cardinals, four rounds of voting and followed a lifetime of service to the Vatican. But ask Internet doomsayers eyeing a 12th century Catholic prophecy and they'll tell you it was all stitched up more than eight centuries ago and that judgment day is nigh. The prophecy -- widely dismissed by scholars as a hoax -- is attributed to St. Malachy, an Irish archbishop recognized by members of the Church for his ability to read the...

A prophecy by a 12th-century Catholic saint that predicted characteristics of the last 112 popes appears to have been strengthened by the election of the new pontiff today. The prophecy labels the new pope "the Glory of the Olive." The Benedictine Order is known as the Olivetans and has as its symbol the olive branch. The new pope, though not of that order, chose as his name Benedict XVI.

I am on the mailing list of several Islamic publications and almost without exception there was veritable glee over the liberal hue and cry from leftists for a more liberal pope. If you read between the lines, you can very clearly see what these Islamics are hoping for: more moral decay in the already evil and decadent West. This evilness would then be used as the reason for the mass slaughter that lies ahead. Allah has demanded that the evil and sinful Christians be sent to the fires of hell and if Islamics are convinced that all Christians are evil,...

Prophecy of St Malachy When I read The Year of Three Popes by Peter Hebblethwaite (about the events of 1978 which saw the death of Paul VI, the election and death of John Paul I, and then the election of John Paul II) he mentions the spate of editorials in the Osservatore Romano and the spate of letters to the editor in the Times of London at the time of the conclaves about what the mottos attributed to the dead pope or the next pope by St Malachy in his prophecies. Enthralled, I went to the library and looked through...

About the year A.D. 1139, Saint Malachy O'Morgair, Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland, wrote down a list of Popes. He listed 112 future Popes, each described by a phrase in Latin. [1] There has been increasing interest in this list among Roman Catholics, for two reasons. First, the descriptions of Popes #109 and #110 match the pontificates of Popes John Paul I and John Paul II to a tee. Second, there are only two more Popes on the list, and the last Pope on the list is given a long apocalyptic description, instead of a quaint and cryptic phrase. Pope #109...
