  • Mexico gets support of 27 nations to attack U.S. plans for border fence in OAS

    10/26/2006 5:36:24 AM PDT · by Boston Blackie · 141 replies · 3,120+ views
MEXICO CITY – Mexico, supported by 27 other nations, made a declaration at the Organization of American States on Wednesday, slamming U.S. plans to build hundreds of miles (kilometers) of fence on its southern border. The declaration, read out at the OAS headquarters in Washington, said the barriers would not solve the immigration problem and urged the U.S. government to rethink its position, according to press releases from the OAS and Mexican foreign ministry. Mexico has also said it will challenge the fence plans at the United Nations.

It was raining in Washington last week, and vendors selling $5 and $10 umbrellas appeared on the streets. They had Hispanic accents, and were undoubtedly some of the unskilled immigrants that Steven Malanga referred to in his recent City Journal article, "How Unskilled Immigrants Hurt Our Economy." I already had an umbrella. But the many purchasers of the umbrellas did not seem to notice that the economy was being hurt. Rather, they were glad of the opportunity to stay dry before their important meetings. The City Journal article is worth a look because it reflects an attitude becoming more common these...

Author of Bush-supported pact that cedes U.S. sovereignty © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Elisabeth Mann Borgese One of the main authors of the U.N.'s Law of the Sea Treaty, or LOST, not only admired Karl Marx but was an ardent advocate of the Marxist-oriented New International Economic Order, according to a new report. Supporters of LOST – now before the U.S. Senate and backed by the Bush Administration – depict it as a pact that merely guarantees freedom of navigation on the high seas. But a new report issued by Cliff Kincaid of the public policy group America's Survival Inc. identifies Elisabeth...

Thursday, April 28, 2005 THE NEW WORLD DISORDER Free-trade pact a threat to U.S. sovereignty? Activists hammers idea to expand NAFTA throughout Americas Posted: April 28, 2005 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Ron Strom © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Opposition is fierce, at least online, to the creation of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, with detractors saying such an agreement between Western Hemisphere nations would mean an end to U.S. sovereignty. First proposed in 1994, the pact would enlarge NAFTA, the North America Free Trade Agreement, to include all of the nations of the Americas except Cuba. FTAA supporters say the...

United Nations Law-of-the-Sea Treaty Threatens U.S. Sovereignty Written by Tom DeWeese Sunday, June 20, 2004 ~~o~~ Those driving the battle to entangle the United States in the United Nations’ Law-of-the-Sea Treaty (LOST) are fighting back, determined to paint any opponent as a radical who is out of touch with the way the world really works. Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) and his allies are mad because they had hoped to sneak LOST through the Senate before anyone noticed. Opponents to the treaty foiled that trick and blasted it to the nation. Americans rose up in protest and now...

"Sovereignty. The issue is huge. The mere mention of Kofi Annan in the U.N. caused the crowd to go into a veritable fit. The coalition wants America strong and wants the American flag flying overseas, not the pale blue of the U.N." So George W. Bush confided to friend Doug Wead before he declared his candidacy. And, twice, President Bush has acted to defend U.S. sovereignty gainst the encroachments of global government. He rejected both the International Criminal Court, which would have ceded power to prosecute U.S. soldiers, and a Kyoto Treaty that would have subjected our economy to the...

I got a call tonight by the NRA soliciting funds to fight a Soros financed effort to get the US to approve a treaty that would allow the UN to have a say on US gun rights. The only thing I can find on this subject is here, an old thread I could not bump as it is out of date. http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a667ba71aa9.htm Anyone have any factual information on this? Or was this just the NRA shaking the money tree?

The ancient Greek Archimedes said, 'Give me a place to stand, and I shall move the earth.' The battle over Arlen Specter quantifies the efforts to drag the United States further to the Godless Marxist/United Nations/Pro-Abortion/Pro-Euthanasia Left--or drag it back to the constructivist Right. The Supreme Court of the United States is the last of Archimedes' places to stand. If there is any doubt--like many asked themselves about Kerry--look at who is in support and who is opposed. We must absolutely defeat Specter's bid or this will signal a deep divide--a conquerable split--in the GOP ranks. Such a perceived divide...

BUSH, KERRY SPAR OVER INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT ICC Among Law-Related Campaign Issues Over Which Candidates Differ BY JAMES PODGERS The Bush administration "needlessly alienated our friends and allies by its ham-handed approach to the issue of the International Criminal Court," says a statement submitted to the ABA Journal on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. But President Bush’s campaign says "submission to the jurisdiction of the ICC would put our troops and officials at unacceptable risk of politically motivated prosecutions." Those contentions are among the two campaigns’ responses to a series of questions on issues of particular interest to...

"The Nation-State Is Finished" by William F. Jasper Robert Bartley, a closet one-worlder at the WSJ, used his newspaper’s "conservative" clout to seduce American business leaders into sacrificing U.S. sovereignty for trade. ‘‘What in blazes can President Bush be thinking?" That has been the general response — on talk radio and in media surveys, Internet postings and letters-to-the-editor — of many current and former Bush supporters angered and confused by the president’s immigration proposals. These folks would not have been surprised by the president’s outrageous announcement on January 7 or his remarks the following week at the Summit of the...

COMPLETE GLOBAL DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE By Joan Veon The Women's International Media Group, Inc. 301/371-0541 In 1998 and 1999, we were inundated constantly with Y2K and the fear of not updating our computers globally. People started to stock up on food, move to the country, buy generators, etc. In 1998 when this global propaganda phenomenon began, I covered a number of international meetings where the Y2K message was the same as what was being delivered on the national level. Then in 1999 something unusual happened, I heard nothing about the consequences of Y2K at the international level while Joe Average continued...

(CNSNews.com) - The American Policy Center is out with a list of the U.S. House members the group considers "Defenders of Sovereignty." But there are only 46 members on the list, implying that everyone else in the 435-member body falls short. In fact, the APC has listed 134 members as "Enemies of Sovereignty," based on their votes on five bills during the 107th Congress "that sought to protect national sovereignty - the right of the United States to defend its independent status among nations." "As Americans gather to celebrate Independence Day, efforts to erode and attack our nation's sovereignty continue,"...

(WASHINGTON--JULY 1, 2002) Today, U.S. Rep. Henry J. Hyde (R-IL), chairman of the House Committee on International Relations, made the following statement regarding consideration by the United Nations Security Council of options for renewing the mandate for peacekeeping operations in Bosnia: "I commend the Bush Administration for its dogged efforts in the United Nations Security Council to defend American sovereignty. No one should expect the United States to deploy its Armed Forces around the world on humanitarian missions on behalf of the United Nations if those forces are to be exposed to prosecution by a United Nations court whose jurisdiction...
