FRONT GATE NOTES Bundled up against the chill, Mrs Trooprally sent her weekly report from the Front Gate of Walter Reed. The DC Chapter of Free Republic’s 290th consecutive Friday night at Walter Reed was a good one! We started slow, then were kept busy by a steady flow of soldiers, more than we’ve seen in awhile. Traffic on Georgia Ave stayed heavy all evening. The bus came early and the driver started honking as soon as he saw us and kept it up until they were in the front gate. Inside the bus the soldiers and their families...

FRONT GATE NOTES Mrs Trooprally sent the following report from the front lines at Walter Reed. An active night with a lot of people passing and talking with us. One wounded warrior and his Dad came out to talk and thank us for being there. They hadn’t seen us before. Lurkers Joey and Rick joined us and we were glad to see them. It had been awhile. It was the third cold Friday night in a row (the week days have been pleasantly mild), but election talk kept us warm and in a good mood. Tonight, Georgia Ave was...

FRONT GATE NOTES (from Ms Trooprally’s notes) Driving to Walter Reed tonight gave us the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fall colors. It was a cold night, but fortunately no wind. A quiet night which gave the DC Chapter of Free Republic plenty of time to do what we like to do best: Support our Troops and their Families, until the DAV bus returned the wounded warriors from dinner. Next week is Halloween and we expect some costumes and candy. (Hint to 3D-Joy). Walter Reed Anti - War Protester News A repeat of last week! 1 moonbat until 8:30pm....

FRONT GATE NOTES (from Ms Trooprally’s notes) Out of nowhere, the great cold wind blew in from Western Maryland this Friday night, almost blowing our flags over. Some of us were unprepared and hadn’t brought cold weather gear. It was a hot coffee night and Ms Trooprally had it ready. GunsAreOK was partially prepared wearing short sleeves and gloves. We don’t think that his uniform will go much further this fall! All in all, the quick change in the weather caught us by surprise. Winter is coming. TrueBlackMan continued filming his Documentary by filming several more soldiers The bus...

FRONT GATE NOTES (from Ms Trooprally’s notes) This night’s Support the Troops and their families started a little slow but picked up quickly with a helicopter landing close to the front gate. Followed in short order by the arrival of BufordP and TrueBlackMan. BufordP has been a constant presence but had to take some time off and we welcome him back! TrueBlackMan is a legendary figure who confronts the left in the DC area at many counter protests and we are always pleased when he stands with us. We had two visitors, FReeper Agreatper, from Pennsylvania, and Tammy Cat,...

FRONT GATE NOTES Tomorrow, the SEIU, AFL-CIO and NAACP will hold a rally at the Lincoln Memorial. The participants include the socialist workers party, the communist party of the U S, anarchists, casa, la raza, code pink and union members. Unions were to provide free transportation, a free lunch and some even received $60 to go. (contrast this group of losers with the hundreds of thousands of real Americans who travelled at their own expense to 9/12 Tea Party and Restoring Honor.) None of that rabble showed up at Walter Reed. ( Contrast that with the dozens of patriots...

FRONT GATE NOTES For the second consecutive Friday, Mrs Trooprally sent the following report from last night’s Support the Troops and Families rally at Walter Reed. We thanked and talked to over a dozen soldiers tonight. Dusk is coming earlier to normal rush hour. By the time cars pass us it is dark. We had 3 cars that we told to turn their lights on. The weather was balmy, like the beach, hot and sweaty, we could take! however, it was a full moon! Oh yeah, red light runners and cars cutting others off. All this in front of...

FRONT GATE NOTES Mrs Trooprally sent the following report from last night’s Support the Troops and Families rally at Walter Reed. A wounded warrior came out and talked with us. He thanked us for being there. Later a uniformed soldier stood and talked with Trooprally for a while. He was WRAMC staff and expressed appreciation for the DC Chapter of Free Republic’s presence on the corners. They discussed Free Republic and some of the memorable Walter Reed rallies. 3D-Joy spent her last Friday evening of this year with us, and will return early next year. She has been a...

FRONT GATE NOTES This is Tea Party Weekend in Washington and a large number of Tea Party attendees spent their Friday night with the DC Chapter of Free Republic! Over 60 visitors joined with DC Chapter members to salute the troops and their families. Visitors were from Chicago, Indiana, Texas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Florida, Washington (state) and California. The evening was full of energy, flag waving, shouts, waves and honks. Mrs Trooprally, 3D-Joy and CindyTrueSupporter held down the table full of snacks, sodas, 9/12 ribbons and other tea party memorabilia. The Garrison commander also visited with us. The...

I want to see the whole thing. Every American should demand to see the whole damned thing. And then you need to demand to know the names of every higher-ups in the military and the government who read or saw this thing and did nothing about it. I’m talking about the chilling slide presentation that Fort Hood jihadist Nidal Hasan gave at Walter Reed Hospital while a senior-year psych resident in June 2007. The Washington Post publishes details of the slide presentation, though not the original document itself. [Update: Good! WaPo publishes the full slide presentation here.] Goodbye, “Do no...

I got to Walter Reed right at 6:30... but I was certainly not the first there. Whooping it up for the troops was VictoryNY, our most enthusiastic Freeper. Here she is with Cindy-True-Supporter, who arrived a few minutes later We Support Our Troops! God Bless our Soldiers! 24 - 7! Thank You to Our Soldiers! ...all this while jumping up and down and waving the flag with much vigor. She has a voice that would make Luciano Pavarotti proud! She is certainly a hit with the troops and their families coming out of the hospital. They've told us many times...

FRONT GATE NOTES Twas the night before the Restoring Honor rally on the National Mall, and we were joined by a number of visitors who were in town for the rally. Over 40 DC Chapter members and visitors had a great time saluting the troops and their families. Visitors were from St Louis, Connecticut, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Raleigh and Miami. And a few wounded warriors stopped by. The Garrison commander also spent some time with us. He told us how much our Friday night presence means to the soldiers recovering from wounds and to their families who come long distances...

FRONT GATE NOTES A lot of energy on the four corners tonight! Visitors Sandy and Teresa from Toms River, NJ joined us. They are part of Eagles Up and every Saturday (noon to 1pm), they are in front of FT Monmouth countering their moonbats. Also joining us was Paltz, a FReeper and Protest Warrior from Virginia. Adding to the mix were four “little Trooprallys” who more than held their own. A soldier leaving Walter Reed in his car, parked, and joined us for awhile holding a sign. Lurker Bill had big speakers up playing great patriotic music which was...

The rattle of thunder was replaced by the rumble of Harley-Davidson motorcycles Friday afternoon as 20-year-old Tyler Southern came home from months of hospitalization at Walter Reed Army Medical Center following severe injuries from a bomb. But the sky seemed to brighten when he lit up a big smile as he rolled to his parents’ home on Gathering Oaks Drive at 5:30 p.m., arms high as he rode in a motorcycle sidecar.

FRONT GATE NOTES Vacations, high temperatures and humidity and violent storms have impacted our Friday nights in July and August. However, Mrs Trooprally commented: “Tonight was a beautiful cool evening with no bugs! It was a good night to catch up with each other. There was no bus tonight as the Wounded Warriors went to the Washington Nationals baseball game.” Walter Reed Anti - War Protester News Moonbats hung their signs wherever they wanted, as Walter Reed did not restrict posting on their property. Just another wasteful night for these losers. HONOR ROLL for August 13, 2010, Mr and...

It started off a normal enough FReep, with the Patriots of Free Republic stationing ourselves at the four corners around the main entrance to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in northwest Washington DC Before too long a car came out of WR, and the driver stopped to speak with with Cindy-True-Supporter and some other FReepers. He said that he had been down to the Pinkos and asked them if they were protesting the war or the troops. They said no. He then asked them if that was the case "why aren't you up there with the others who are supporting...

FRONT GATE NOTES Below are Trooprally’s notes on the 276th consecutive DC Chapter FReep at Walter Reed. This was an interesting night. First, the buses left late. Second, we couldn’t determine whether there were one or two buses. Third, almost everyone showed up late. Trooprally said it is going to be a long night. Well it was! The DAV bus showed up way past 9:00pm, and then we waited and waited, for the Big Bus to show up. As we were leaving, the Big Bus arrived. Big Bus had made two stops tonight picking up the Wounded Warriors and...

FRONT GATE NOTES 99 degree heat didn’t deter the DC chapter on its 275th consecutive Friday night at Walter Reed. Nor did it keep Wounded Warriors from walking out the front gates to wherever they go. We were able to speak with a number of them and two plus a mom, in particular. More about that later. 3D-Joy was celebrating her birthday and we all enjoyed cupcakes, a gigantic sub sandwich and cold sodas. She was accompanied by her daughter Linda. 3D-Joy had a pleasant surprise, when a driver pulled his car over, stopped, slid into the passenger seat,...
