MCNEAL — Once it housed soldiers stationed at Fort Huachuca, then it was moved to McNeal and was filled with the sounds of happy feet dancing and the chattering of ladies at coffee cloches. Now abandoned, there are new inhabitants that really are no fun — killer bees. The irritable, six-legged flying pollinators have been in the building on Frontier Road for a number of years, tending huge honeycombs and creating problems for those who walk their dogs, ride horses or just take a morning stroll. If one puts out nectar for the hummingbirds and orioles in spring within the...

New england is in the lead, will they prevail to the end of the game. This is for the football fans to vent how the game is going. It is in fun, rout for your team of choice and if they win or lose have some fun with it. On Tuesday we have to suffer through yet another State of the Union. Okay I do not have to suffer through because I will be on the road traveling to Lower Michigan for a medical appointment! Let's have some fun with the football game.

The January 26th edition of The New Yorker imagines a world where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. marches arm in arm with some of the most polarizing news figures from 2014 and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. The publication is known for it’s controversial covers, but this one entitled “The Dream of Reconciliation” – shows Dr. King with Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, and New York City Police officer Wenjian Liu, who was killed by a gunman in December – peacefully walking with arms linked as an American flag waves in the background. Artist Barry Blitt who drew it says he...

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS CONTENT THAT MAY TRIGGER ANYONE WHO IS OFFENDED BY RACIAL SLURS AND ENJOYS MUSIC.If you don’t know who Azealia Banks is, there are only two explanations: 1.You’re a racist.2.Just kidding, that was it. She’s a rapper/singer/whatever who’s less known for her music than for her feuds, or “beefs,” with more popular and/or talented artists. She picks fights with people like Iggy Azalea, Eminem, Lady Gaga, and then a bunch of other people you’ve never heard of because of #1 above. Banks has been forced to do this for publicity purposes, because her music sounds like...

In the basement of a Portland hotel Friday, a room full of members of the American Name Society gathered for their big annual event: voting on the name of the year for 2014. They nominated and spoke for and against the names of people, places and things that mattered last year before a decisive vote. By a 15-vote margin over the other finalists, “Ferguson” became their name of the year. Ferguson, of course, is the name the St. Louis suburb where a police officer shot and killed teenager Michael Brown last year, setting off weeks of racially charged unrest around...

The Black Brunch movement wants us to get uncomfortable with law enforcement violence in communities of color.Weekend brunch is usually the time for Americans to kick back and enjoy a mimosa and a slice of a savory veggie frittata (watch out for those spiking egg prices) with friends or family. But on Sunday, diners in several New York City and Oakland, California, restaurants got a hefty serving of anti–police violence activism alongside their meals. Dozens of participants in the grassroots Black Brunch movement walked into restaurants that tend to serve a predominantly white customer base. The activists weren’t there to...

Sunday brunch was painfully disrupted for diners nationwide when protesters occupied upscale restaurants and read off the names of black victims of police violence. The #BlackBrunch demonstrators targeted eateries that serve predominantly affluent, white clientele and staged sit-ins in New York City, San Francisco, Oakland, Baltimore, and other cities across the country. As discomforted brunchers lifted mugs of pour-over coffee to their lips, protesters recited the names of black people killed by the police like Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown. Although some protesters encountered hostility from restaurant managers, most of them witnessed supportive gestures from the diners. Activists...

January 22, 2015 will be the 42nd anniversary of legalized child killing through abortion under the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade decision. According to the most recent abortion stats, in 2011, Guttmacher, reports that 1.06 million abortions were performed nationally. According to Planned Parenthood’s latest stats, they killed 327,653 unborn children in just one year. To “celebrate” this, Planned Parenthood is organizing events across the country. In Arizona, Planned Parenthood has planned an evening of wine, food, music, creativity and conversation. Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando plans to host Rock n’ Roe 2015, and “celebrate” child killing with, “local bands...

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more perfect caricature of America's wildest, bawdiest and most unintelligible impulses than Florida Man. As the Internet's most notorious citizen, Florida Man isn't a single person, let alone a single resident of Florida. He's an amalgamation of the characters who populate the ridiculous news stories that often trickle out of the Sunshine State. Florida Man is a raunchier version of the Onion's mild-mannered Area Man, a caricature, with a wink and a nod, to our fellow Americans. Florida Man is best known for his outlandish conduct, which ranges from the bizarre (carrying a meth...

After the discovery of oil in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, it didnt take long for environmentalists to cry gloom and doom and for the media to hype those claims. From caribou dying to earthquakes to all hell breaking loose, there was no shortage of catastrophic predictions though the Alaska pipeline now boasts great success roughly 30 years later.      Construction on the pipeline began in 1975, and oil first moved through it on June 20, 1977. Former Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton summed up its success in 2003 that Today the pipeline produces 17 percent of our domestic petroleum. It...

Are your children safe at school? That depends on if you're worried about bullies or administrators. Here are 10 of the most infamous "zero tolerance" punishments handed down to kids—and even some adults—this year. 1. Student, 13, shares lunch, gets detention A 13-year-old boy at Weaverville Elementary School in California shared his school lunch (a chicken burrito) with a hungry friend. For this, he got detention. Superintendent Tom Barnett explained, "Because of safety and liability we cannot allow students to actually exchange meals.” 2. Sunscreen not allowed on field trip—kids might drink it

The year gone by was marked by a tangle of stories involving midterm elections, grand juries and scandalous outfits worn by Sasha and Malia Obama. No need for a tedious yearend recap. Here instead is a precap of news certain to break in 2015: JAN. 1 – President Obama ushers in the New Year with a passel of executive orders. In one action likely to anger Republicans, the president announces that Mark Udall of Colorado and Kay Hagan of North Carolina, along with other defeated Democrats, will not be forced to leave the Senate for three years. “We must deal...
