A humble green façade bears the name ‘McSorley’s Old Ale House, Established 1854′ in white paint, and only a handful of things have changed about this East Village bar in the last 158 years. McSorley’s was the only beer license to remain operational during Prohibition. Women were not permitted to enter McSorley’s until the Supreme Court forced them to allow it in 1970 – a fact that still causes grumbling among some of the old regulars. The name changed from its original moniker, This Old House at Home, in 1908. But besides that, time – like the broken clock on...

And why hasn't anyone mentioned the possibility of Charlie Crist running for the Democrat Nomination? Just look at who else is on the waiting list, Warren, DeBlasio, Sanders and O'Malley. They are all just as qualified to be President as Charlie Crisp, right? So why wont he jump in while Hillary is sinking into quicksand? He has no chance of being "Senator Charlie Crisp", well not in Florida.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has launched a probe into the incident, which happened today morning, they said. "During taxiing, another aircraft was landing, so our plane had to take a right turn. There was absolutely no panic among our players," a DD team official told PTI here. Raipur is the second...

Pointing approvingly to an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal by House Science Chairman Lamar Smith (R.-Texas), Senate Environment Chairman Jim Inhofe (R.-Okla.) said on the Senate floor yesterday that global warming alarmists are advancing a new religious sect. “Global warming alarmism has evolved into a religion where one is either an alarmist or a skeptic,” Inhofe said. “The modern-day religion of climate change has been very artful in establishing and controlling carefully scripted talking points intended to scare the American people under the guise of environmental protectionism,” said Inhofe. …

The owners of the colossal mansion at the center of the award-winning 2012 documentary 'The Queen of Versailles' are nearing completion on the 90,000-square-foot single-family home after experiencing some recent financial success. Time-share mogul David Siegel, 80, and his 49-year-old wife Jackie started construction on the Orlando, Florida mega-mansion more than a decade ago but had to but the home up for foreclosure after taking a huge hit in the 2008 financial collapse. But after sales rebounded at Siegel's company Westgate in the past few years, the Siegels took the home back off the market and construction workers are back...

A man snorkeling in the Colorado River near the Arizona and California border sent authorities on a hunt after he alerted them to what appeared to be "skeletal remains" at the bottom of the river. After he called police in Arizona, authorities launched a search for the remains on Monday, and divers from the Buckskin Fire Department swam down to investigate. To everyone's surprise -- and relief -- the skeletons, seated comfortably in lawn chairs, turned out to be fake, police said. They were even wearing sunglasses and were placed in a way as though they were having a tea...

Reading to children at bedtime: ABC questions value of time-honoured practiceTHE ABC has questioned whether parents should read to their children before bedtime, claiming it could give your kids an “unfair advantage” over less fortunate children. “Is having a loving family an unfair advantage?” asks a story on the ABC’s website. “Should parents snuggling up for one last story before lights out be even a little concerned about the advantage they might be conferring?” The story was followed by a broadcast on the ABC’s Radio National that also tackled the apparently divisive issue of bedtime reading. “Evidence shows that the...

The pieces, which were to be displayed at the Hatay Archaeology Museum and include famous panels depicting the sacrifice of Isaac and a mosaic of Narcissus, are thought to be beyond repair. “Valuable pieces from the Roman period have been ruined," Daşkapan said. "Some are in an especially poor condition and have lost their originality and...
