It’s been a very bad week for men.
Yesterday, the American Psychological Association released a set of guidelines that condemned traditional masculinity as ‘harmful.’
Specifically, it stated that male traits like ‘stoicism’, ‘competitiveness’, ‘achievement’, ‘eschewal of the appearance of weakness’, ‘adventure’, and ‘risk’ are bad and should be expunged.
I literally choked on my bacon-and-sausage sandwich (my contribution to Veganuary) when I read this absurd load of PC-crazed bilge.
It’s basically saying that it’s wrong, and harmful, to be masculine, to be a man.
As David French, a writer for the National Review, put it in his withering response to the report: ‘The assault on traditional masculinity – while liberating to men who don’t fit traditional norms – is itself harmful to the millions of young men who seek to be physically and mentally tough, to rise to challenges, and demonstrate leadership under pressure. The assault on traditional masculinity is an assault on their very natures. Are boys disproportionately adventurous? Are they risk-takers? Do they feel a need to be strong? Do they often by default reject stereotypically ‘feminine’ characteristics? Yes, yes, yes and yes.’
Exactly.
I’ve got three sons and a daughter.
My siblings have eight girls and a boy between them.
So I’ve had plenty of experience watching all 13 of these children (their ages range from two to 25) grow up.
And here’s a cast-iron fact for you: girls are very different to boys.
They think differently, behave differently, dress differently, emote differently, and have markedly different characteristics.
Anyone who’s actually had kids knows this.
Yet somehow, it’s become offensive to say it out loud.

It’s pretty strange when you stop and think about it - we’re being lectured simultaneously that being male is prima facie evidence of some sort of inherent defect, yet, being a transvestite, wearing a dress and lopping off body parts is totally normal.
Yeah, all the people pushing this crap are loony tune.
We need a pool on how soon Gillette apologizes.

What Gillette forgot is that it is in a competitive market and forgot who their customer is. I am switching to Costco blades, any other shave cream or new shave products. Let them sell their female products since they don’t call him male to the female and transpeople crowd. Good luck with 50% of the market. Stupid marketing.

So they are admitting that there is a difference between men and women?
2 boys, 2 girls here. Markedly different personalities. The 2 boys are daredevils. We talk about smart decisions, being safe. We talk them back from the edge, but they still want to look over the edge. Blood, bruises, and scars, and they laugh about it. Boys.
One is in college studying engineering. The other is still in high school but talking the trade route and mechanics or military.
Boys.

Leftists have a special talent for believing two competing ideas at the same time.
Like our political elites, America’s corporate elites live in a bubble. Having worked in both arenas, I can say both have very strong bureaucratic, in-group, conformist cultures, where having the proper attitudes, opinions and slogans are how one survives.
Its particularly important in consumer marketing-type companies, like P&G, Coca Cola, Nike Unilever, Kraft/Mondelez, General Mills - where image is everything to their managers.
So this PC crap flows uninterrupted within the bubble from their public schools, to universities, to their graduate degrees, to their work environments.

The real question is in who’s interest is it to glorify and promote weakness in men? An obvious culprit is a government that seeks to subjugate and oppress people. Has Gillette simply mistaken a bandwagon mentality for a substantive social cause? We can only hope. In the meantime I will grow a beard.
