Trump: A Man of Action Gazes Pensively Out the White House Window
Observations on Trump's Twitter Photo ^

The mark of a great portrait is its power to reveal the soul of the man or woman being captured.
To me, the large banner photo of Trump (below) shown on Trump's current Twitter page is an artful portrait of the man. Here are some things it conveys to me:
- Amid the whirlwind of political fighting and legal overthrow of a corrupt government, Trump can also retreat into the calmness and repose of a man comfortable with who he is.
- Though he's comfortable in his Versailles-like apartment at Trump Tower, he notices that the White House, too, has some fine qualities.
- He may be alone in the White House, but he's content to know his hard work selecting the very best Cabinet ministers will ultimately set the Nation right.
- The peacefulness of the man in the photo contrasts with the dynamic person we know Trump to be. We see there's also an introspective side to the man. His Twitter page is a place where he not only communicates policy, but also sets the moral direction of America.
- The dark reddish glow in the room symbolizes the darkness in our government. The threats of ISIS, the killing of police officers, and the murders by illegal gangster are serious problems to be dealt with. Yet Trump's vision and guiding light is a way out of this darkness.
- Finally, the casualness of the portrait shows the transparency and honesty of the man. We notice he's a bit overweight; his tie hangs down too low; his wrinkled suit doesn't fit him too well. In short, the lack of polish in the photo suggests this is a truly candid shot of Trump walking around and getting used to his new office.
Now looking at a similar gazing-out-the-window photo of Obama, you notice the difference. The Obama photo appears to be a canned publicity shot.
The Washington Monument perfectly centered in the window also looks contrived. Obama's pose appears as phoney as the man himself. Rather than thinking how to help the working people of America, Obama day dreams about being out on the golf course.

Thanks for posting. I think there is some excellent analysis here and yes, Trump's pose seems unrehearsed and genuine while Obama's was almost certainly contrived to the last detail. You get the impression that there was a hundred photos taken of Obama during that shoot with the "most perfect" one being selected.
This reminds me of a photo I've been searching for since Election Night. On one of the FR election threads, there was a photo posted of Donald Trump in his private quarters at the Trump Tower just after he learned that he had won the election. He was sitting in a chair by himself with that exact same expression on his face you see here - just very thoughtful and taking it all in. You could sense that this was the moment he realized that his life had just changed forever and that the weight of the world was about to be placed on his shoulders. It was a very somber and revealing photo and for some reason I can't seem to find it on the web anywhere.

He probably is taking whiz and enjoying doing it on The People’s House.
He has turned his back to We the People just like always.

If there is one thing I hate, it’s the dramatic photos of Presidents. Its childish and contributes to the whole thing that I call the cult of the presidency. That he must be in direct contact with every fighter pilot by radio, that every banker waits his commands, that everyone waits breathlessly for the captain at the helm to keep the lights turned on.
Its pure silliness.
My favorite is when we get treated to how the heavy responsibility “ages” them. Take any man late 40s or early 50s, and take photos 8 years later, you’ll notice aging and gray hair. The idea that the president has is stressed is childish worship. He can have the best of food, prepared by a top chef, anytime he pleases. He is protected and never has to give a thought to the personal safety of he and his loved ones. He doesn’t need a CCW, a wallet, or a keychain. If he has a cell phone it’s just for his entertainment. He has free healthcare that will be the most reviewed and best humanity can offer. He can snap his fingers and get a massage, a steambath, or a woman half his age to pleasure him. He can decide to take a vacation anytime he pleases, anywhere he pleases, for as long as he wants.
A presidential vacation happens every couple of months and each one is an experience most people will never have, or might have once in a lifetime.
They have zero money worries and all the ones that arrive poor leave fabulously wealthy. He has a staff of hundreds and generally doesn’t have to spend all day around his nagging wife. His nagging wife has her own staff to keep her well occupied.
In short, a president lives a life that would astonish and embarrass Louis XIV. Weight of the world aging him ...my hind end.

The White House is half the size of his condo and is likely the most run down place he’s ever lived. And I bet the USAF is getting headaches after the reputation he had for being absolutely anal about the perfection of his 757.

lol. I was thinking the same thing.

Here's a contrasting opinion from Emerson said on the same subject:
The farmer imagines power and place are fine things. But the President has paid dearly for his White House. It has commonly cost him all his peace, and the best of his manly attributes. To preserve for a short time so conspicuous an appearance before the world, he is content to eat dust before the real masters who stand erect behind the throne.

You know it. AF 1 will be spit shined before he takes his first flight.

I’m probably the only other person that saw that episode, that’s a pretty obscure reference man !

Hopefully this pic wasn’t staged like all the other ones like it going back to camera happy Jack Kennedy.

And I bet the USAF is getting headaches after the reputation he had for being absolutely anal about the perfection of his 757.My son, the "Ace" in my FR name is the same way about the ERJ 200 he captains. I don't blame him and neither did my dad, who was a professional pilot as well. Now, I might add, "Ace" is a very polite "absolute anal." Except if you mess with his crew! (I taught him that.)
