Today’s Army is generally aware of the threat of world Islam terrorism if only through direct combat experience. It’s part of the group culture just like the world communist movement was a generation ago.
But communism as a perceived threat and individual communists as traitors, spies, and enemies of democracy - that’s kind of faded away, now. The USSR & Warsaw Pact are long gone and the hermit kingdoms of Cuba & North Korea are a kind of sick joke not to be taken as a serious threat. And People’s China? They’ve got Mao Tse-tung lashed down so he can’t spin.
Times pass, unfortunately.
When getting secret clearances for my civilian military contractor’s job, one of the automatic disqualifiers was any belief or professing of communist ideals or ideology. They didn’t just quiz me, but my friends and associates.
So, does this mean now that communists can get clearances?

yeah, my folks told me about it while I was in Korea awaiting secret clearance ..... which I got.
My father and the men he served with would be horrified at this guy’s presence in the U.S. Armed Forces.
So... he seems to be on a ‘fast track’ to promotions, since usual Time In Grade from 0-1 to O-2 is 18 months and this guy has been in only 12 months.
Maybe ‘Ring Knockers’, even Communist ones who hate the USA, are on a different schedule from regular OCS / ROTC officers.
Wonder how long Trump will tolerate these military officers who disobey or behave in this manner. When he issued an order barring transvestites from military service, a Coast Guard Admiral and others in the Pentagon immediately openly opposed him. He is the Commander in Chief. He can reassign that Admiral as Keeper of the latrines at Leavenworth and that communist West Point grad as his assistant. Seems like the military is lacking discipline.
He should declare himself a muzzie. That’ll get him to Captain.
