One of Stephen Hawking's Most Famous Theories About Black Holes Just Suffered a Huge Blow

One of Stephen Hawking's most famous theories about dark matter — that this mysterious and invisible substance is made up of primordial black holes — recently suffered a huge blow. That conclusion comes from a massive telescope that captured an image of an entire galaxy in one shot.

The findings don't completely rule out Stephen Hawking's famous notion. But they suggest that primordial black holes would have to be truly tiny to explain dark matter. Dark matter mystery

Dark matter is the name given by physicists to explain a particularly mysterious phenomenon: Everything in the universe moves, orbits and rotates as if there were more mass than we can detect. Explanations for dark matter range from ghostly particles called neutrinos to unknown particles, to new laws of physics. In the 1970s, Stephen Hawking and his colleagues theorized that the Big Bang may have created a large number of relatively small black holes — each about the size of a proton. These tiny, ancient black holes would be difficult to see, yet would exert a large gravitational pull on other objects — the two known properties of dark matter. [The 11 Biggest Unanswered Questions About Dark Matter]

Until now, this theory could only be tested for primordial black holes heavier than the moon. But as technology has improved, scientists have been able to take sharper and sharper pictures of outer space. The Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) digital camera on the Subaru telescope in Hawaii is an advanced piece of imaging technology that can take a picture of the entire Andromeda galaxy (the nearest galaxy to our own) in one shot. Masahiro Takada and his team at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe in Japan used this camera to search for primordial black holes;

It’s time for the metaphysical belief in black holes to die.

When I read black hole I thought this was an article about Jussie Smollett. But I was mistaken.

But what about Anne Elk’s Theory about Brontosauruses.

‘Black Holes’ are real, it’s just that ‘Primordial’ Black Holes may not be..................

Hawkins will be a tiny blip on history, if that. His theories were unremarkable and the only reason he got any airtime was because he was that paraplegic scientist.

In the same way the only thing remarkable about Obama’s Presidency was that he was black.

Hawking predicted the existence of primordial black holes, but I don’t think he ever used them as a candidate to explain dark matter. If he did, I never knew it.

Please post articles about dark matter and energy, multi-universe, string theory, big bang, etc where they belong, in the religion section.

Black holes are not real. They are a mathematical absurdity that should have been taken as a demonstration of a flaw in the theory, or a flaw in translating the mathematics into actual physical reality.

Actual physical things don’t deal in infinities, as black holes do.

Black holes don’t really deal in infinities. That’s only where our knowledge of mathematics indicates that our knowledge of physics falls short.

That’s my point. Instead of admitting our knowledge of physics falls short, they invent fiction after fiction after fiction (black holes, big bang, dark matter, dark energy, etc.) to keep the failed model and its grant gravy train rolling.

By retreating into pure mathematics, as they have so eagerly done, they don’t need to have any physical tie to reality whatsoever.

Don’t get how you think the concept of a black hole is Metaphysics?

Start with a simple question:

Does gravity affect light?

The mathematics approach infinity only at the singularity of a black hole, not the event horizon which forms the most important part of it. General relativity and mathematics still agree there.

Dark matter doesn’t exist. It has never been shown to exist except on a blackboard. Basically physics is in a state of crisis. When a prediction cannot be observed, they conclude the thing being looked for is invisible.
