Spanish cave paintings, including these hand stencils (center), may not date to Neandertal times due to complications with a technique for dating mineral deposits, researchers argue. But the claim is controversial... The latest volley in this debate, published October 21 in the Journal of Human Evolution, contends that rock art in three Spanish caves that had been dated to at least roughly 65,000 years ago may actually be tens of thousands of years younger. If so, then Stone Age humans could have created the painted symbols and hand outlines (SN: 2/22/18). Neandertals died out by around 40,000 years ago (SN: 6/26/19).

No, they didn't. We're still walkin' around, genius.
The Neandertal Enigma"Frayer's own reading of the record reveals a number of overlooked traits that clearly and specifically link the Neandertals to the Cro-Magnons. One such trait is the shape of the opening of the nerve canal in the lower jaw, a spot where dentists often give a pain-blocking injection. In many Neandertal, the upper portion of the opening is covered by a broad bony ridge, a curious feature also carried by a significant number of Cro-Magnons. But none of the alleged 'ancestors of us all' fossils from Africa have it, and it is extremely rare in modern people outside Europe." [pp 126-127]

Well, there was no “swiping right” back then so Spanish Art was pretty good in seeing if a girl was interested...
The biggest hand print wins! :^)
Who were the Neandertals dating??
Neandertals didn’t Date?
How do they know?
Anyone and everyone, including your ancestors, so there. :^)
I don’t believe it, they are trying so say that all of the paintings were made at the same time when more than likely there were successive eras and layers.
Suggest a alternative history changing revelation at an already studied site, apply for funding to restudy an already studied site.
They are just too lazy to go find a new original site to study for their begging for funds agenda, it takes too long. lol
You have to go to the Neandertal section of Match.com and see what’s available.
So Neanderthals were the first Spaniards.
Hmmmm...
No, they didn’t. We’re still walkin’ around, genius.

Ha! But Neandertal culture collapsed! The cave art points to the pre-cursor. The development of a professional arts class.
The arts class spawns an SJW class. The SJW class destroys society and culture.
My grandfather did those drawings...Just before he went to work for Geico making commercials...
Had to read the headline a couple times. Thought it was an article about Neanderthals dating Spanish folk.
Written on the wall: “Laz would hit that”
I thought your grandfather’s TV show was funny!
“And the next question is for Cro:
What is her favorite painting?”
My grandfather did those drawings
Well, my Great-grandfather was the first from the clan and surrounding Highlands to walk erect!
Some kin say he had injured his knuckles and had to find a workaround?
