is there any consideration for the millions with young children and now no jobs due to the hysteria?....why are people so concerned with the older people when its the younger families taking the brunt of this financially....they need milk, tp, diapers, etc for their kids....

No pickup times available at our local Wally World. Monday is the best I can do at Giant Eagle, a Kroger affiliate.

Don’t worry about whether a store is “sanitized” or not.

All the stores are sending customers emails saying that they are deep cleaning and sanitizing every night. This is a PR attempt to reassure customers.

Two minutes after the stores are open they are totally un-sanitized.

If you go into a grocery store, any store, *you* are responsible to either wear gloves or wash your hands totally.

The only way to totally avoid this virus is to stay isolated in your home and wiping the surfaces around you.

I went in the local Wal-Mart this morning right after opening for car work. While waiting I heard one associate say to another that 17 called out sick. So this might have something to do with it. I don’t think they were sick. They probably just wanted to avoid the public.

Their “grocery order ahead” and pick up later was working today versus the total crash last weekend.

3 items out of 25 shorted with no substitutions. 7 substitutions, we often make out price/value wise with the substitutions.

Safeway’s and Raley’s home delivery system did not work and their store pickup systems were DOA re slow or not working computers.

no pickup at all? or with their new policy, you have to get on at midnight to get in the next day, and they are only doing 1 day out.

My son stopped in Walmart today and he had my list. Normal list really. The meat case was full and he pulled some pork chops. chicken wings and 4 steaks and took it to a register. They would only sell him one meat package. So they had to return all the meat to the case. Now it had been touched 2 extra times. Rules are rules. The good news is I worked for Walmart for 27 years and my stock is doing well.

“I was at Walmart yesterday and the area with canned beans was completely empty ,LOL”

Beans, corn and other canned veggies and meats/fish are still MIA at most of our stores in Cali land.

I know of some stores that are on the verge of shutting down because half of the workers have quit their jobs out of fear.

This is going to be the big problem.

Based on my daily shopping this week I would say skip walmart and head to Aldi. They are much better stocked in my area of Florida, anyway. Walmart was actually trending down as of tuesday.

Hardly any employees in the walmart in Jax, FL when I visited this week. I’ve given up on them for now. Aldi & Publix for me.

Went this morning in FL. Literally got the very last roll of paper towels. A lady grabbed 3 or 4 and the guy before me got 2 or 3 and turned and handed me one of his. I thought that was pretty cool. There weren’t anyone else right there so it was just us. Really needed napkins but none, so using paper towels. Oh the huge manatee, right?

No eggs, no TP. No packaged bread. So got a loaf at the bakery section came home and sliced it myself.

Cleaning supplies were picked over but not gone. Same with canned goods.

Going to be out of eggs in a day or two.

EVERY company is instituting ‘feel good’ policies! Today, I went to 7-11 to fill my coffee cup. It should have been $1.05 CDN. Instead, I was told that I had to use a paper cup, at $1.85. Why would I want to touch a paper cup that someone else’s dirty paws may have been touching all over! Using MY cup, the only thing I touch is the button on the machine. I DO NOT HAVE TO touch ANYTHING ELSE!

The ‘brain trust’ at 7-11 MUST realize that there are LESS germs, viruses, and bacteria if people use THEIR OWN CUPS! Their ‘virtue signalling’ MAY COST LIVES!

Special Shopping Hours: 60 and older

They have implemented similar policies in the two stores near me (Smith's and Wal-Mart). 6-7 a.m. I think.

As an Old Fud myself, my thinking is that If I HAD to go, I'd rather mix in with the general population than a group of old people who have a higher risk of already being infected. Personally, I think this is overblown, but it doesn't hurt to be prudent.

As an aside, my semi-annual checkup at the VA was changed to a phone interview. They asked me if that was OK and I said yes as long as I had a blood test - I didn't want to go a full year before I had another one.

There is no evidence anywhere in the world of older people having a higher risk of being infected.

I have read that with this virus you need UV C light to work well.
