Zachary Brewster could perhaps work part time at a couple of restaurants in Detroit, or perhaps go to the Downriver communities and maybe work there. I myself used to work in the kitchen of a steakhouse that used to be in Taylor, and a lot of waitstaff, and bartender frequently had issues with black “guests”.
In the south of the border category I have found that the service workers like restaurant guys tip nicely. Plain old folks not so much.
Again it varies. Again I give excellent service to everyone. If someone doesn’t tip I generally decide they are poor and don’t resent them for it.

In re that, same here in the taxi. And yet. I’ll never forget taking a quiet elderly black lady to her home in the projects. I assumed no tip and figured she’d use a subsidized card. No problem. She was probably poor and nobody owes me a tip. Did the best ride I could.
Fare was $8.80. She thanked me and handed me a $20, said keep the change. I figured she thought she gave me a $10. Wait ma’am I said, this is a $10 not a $20. I know, she said, I can’t take it with me.
So over a hundred percent tip from a lady in a generally no tip category. You never know.
I dropped off a white guy and his son from the airport at the kid you not Ritz Carlton. They talked about his lacrosse team the whole way there. No tip. And they left garbage in the back seat. So. Stereotypes have exceptions.
Worked as a bar tender years ago. Women in general tipped significantly less than men.
True! I was a waitress long ago. Black women tipped poorly and complained more than any other demographic.
I was a waitress. The worst tippers were the owner’s friends. Their friends and family discount was not tipping. All white.
Don’t remember any problems with black customers, though there weren’t very many.

I worked for GTE 1987 - 1999, when my division was sold to General Dynamics. With GTE, they actually meant it when the said the employee came first. One of the last of the old-time corporations. They had never laid anyone off until the Cold War ended and the defense industry took a huge hit in 1994.
GTE HR people could hardly do enough for employees. General Dynamics turfed out most of the HR department, and those that were left existed to protect the Corp. from employees.
I worked, in the same division, for GD until 2012. I had two dealings with HR, and each time the first thing HR asked me to do was sign an agreement that I would not sue the company. Such agreements were legally unenforceable, but they used them to intimidate the gullible.

4 years back the wife and I ate at an upscale restaurant. Across the room was table of 5-6 black women. The screamed and cackled and were super loud.
Everyone and I mean every other person in the restaurant were looking at each other with disgusted looks. Everyone was thinking the same thing and everyone knew it.
The management refused to say anything to them.
Black folks are very often a pain in the ass to wait on and typically stiff them on the tip. Sorry if that truth hurts anyone.

Agreed, anyone from anywhere who ever worked for tips will be more generous. The key word here is “work”.
As ex-waiter I would not give the best service to black customers, simply because they don’t tip you no matter what.
The best tippers were whites. They were generous to me all the time helping me a lot with my college. I’m old time Asian and felt grateful to those who helped me. When I waited tables, I never received good tip from blacks not even regular tips
Now that I almost retire from lucrative job in Wall Street, I don’t dine outside very often. But when I do I always give best tips to white waiters or waitresses regardless of service(I’m very tolerant patron). $10 lunch I will give $5 tip. $30 dinner I will put $15-20 for white waiters or waitresses. To black waiters or waitresses I give regular tips 15% . Not leaving tip is my style

Also liberals are awful tippers while conservatives are big tippers.
Both the DNC and RNC conventions in 2004 we held in NYC. A local radio talk show host went to both. Everywhere he ate he asked the wait staff who tipped better. All said Republicans.

This thread is an interesting way to show mutual respect for people of all races on FR. A garbage article that gives several FReepers a chance to lump all blacks together. We really are our own worst enemy.
