And the blame for their circumstances is never reflected upon, as the result of poor choices, made over and over; but placed upon someone else
Don’t forget college students. I’ve seem some run up expensive checks as they all try to act more “affluent” than the other guy but leave nothing for a tip.
This is a well known fact. I've heard this fact from different sources, and in different locales. Colored women do not tip.
I talked to a Latina waitress once, after observing a white couple give her a rough time. They complained their food was not worth the price, and the manager discounted their meal. while talking to her, I asked if it was true waiters could pick out people who would tip well. She said she could and when I asked what she looked for she said, “They are usually white.”
It’s rare they’re servers because the idea of serving or waiting on any group of people goes against their slavery mentality.

According to people I know who have worked as waitress or bar tender, they not only tip poorly, if at all, but also make unreasonable demands on staff. Seem to go to great effort to make the waiter or waitress job as difficult as possible.
I am not sure how the Jews of the day interpreted it. It’s sort of hard to miss the point. But, the book was banned for years and took a long time before Joyce could find a publisher. The first edition, I think, only had 1000 copies printed by a small French publisher. It was banned for many ostensible reasons, including blasphemy, profanity, sexual innuendo, drunken tomfoolery, and the characters (mostly Irish Catholics) mocking Catholic mass. Later people realized how important a work it was. And of course, 10 years after it was published Hitler rose to power so Joyce was somewhat prescient.
I don’t think waiters give poor service to black customers…if anything, they’re so terrified of being called racist or having the customers yell at them that the black customers probably get better service than the white customers.
One of the problems is that black customers tend to be unrealistically demanding (there actually ARE other customers in the restaurant, not only those at their table) and also interpret anything as a slight. I was in a restaurant today where the plate runner…who probably won’t last long…somehow managed to go to the opposite side of the table and, while trying to reach over and set my plate down, he tipped it so that the French fries slid off! I just thought it was one of those things, especially since the guy (white, like me) looked a little dim.
Meanwhile a black table nearby was grilling the waiter on why their water hadn’t come out immediately when they got the menus (which were dropped off by the hostess anyway). My water wasn’t out immediately either, but I didn’t regard it as a personal affront, or even having my French fries poured off the plate onto the table in front of me. A lot of black people are too suspicious and hostile, and they take everything personally and assume it’s because they’re black. But that’s what they’ve been taught to do, and CRT sure isn’t helping.
My son did pizza delivery in college. The drivers all hated to go to a certain neighborhood that was stingy with the tips.
It wasn't a black neighborhood, it was trashy white people.
Wait staff depend on tips. Whether they should is another question. But under this scenario, they're not going to like waiting on people... ANY people... who don't help them pay their bills.
Why did the racists limit their survey to mostly just ‘white’ waiters and servers ?!?
A simpler test would have been to use actual customers with actual tips !
Hispanics are also big stiffers.

I’ve had several very good experiences lately with blacks. Notable enough that I mentioned them to friends. When discussing my observations one friend said he’d noticed the same thing. He suggested that, because of all the anti-white racism we’re seeing in the media, it appears that decent blacks are trying harder to come across as decent to counter the impression the media is giving on black/white relations. He posited that these people were concerned about the bad image the media was giving them with a race that, after all, out numbers them and provides most of the jobs and money movement.

i’ve worked in many restaurants and sadly the stereotype of the non tipping but will run your ass off black patrons is mostly true.
I said mostly, for the folks that want to weep for black people and my casual racism.
Not to say there aren’t all kinds of non tipping folk.
Generally true for cab customers as well, although as working unto the Lord I give my best service to every customer.
And I have had poor and generous tippers from every racial category.
It’s made me sad a couple of times picking up darker-than-a-paper-bag customers. A few have thanked me effusively for stopping to pick them up. That was sad. One man carefully informed me “I am reaching into my pocket to get out my wallet” which is of course considerate of him but I felt bad they he believed he needed to say that.
The writer seems to be having a problem separating cause and effect.
