All hope for Steven Spielberg’s racially divisive West Side Story remake died in week two, plummeting 68 percent with a humiliating take of just $3.4 million.
After ten days in release, which includes two weekends, this historic box office bomb has grossed just $17.9 million.
The hope had been that word of mouth would give Woke Side box office legs. Sorry, nope. No legs. Just two little stumps.
Between production and marketing, this stinker probably cost close to $200 million. As a result, Disney’s going to lose a fortune.

I have been assured that "Everyone who sees it LOVES it".
Even if over time they finally turn a profit, it won’t be much, and Disney will have stressed about it the entire time. Good.
Movies are terrible these days. No new fresh ideas. Just the same old retread plots only now they are filled with woke BS.
The industry has to be hurting because of the pandemic, too. Movie theaters were shut down and probably continue to struggle.
I try to have compassion for the people who might lose their jobs but then I remember that they hate me so I say good riddance. Why support an entity or business that hates me.

Don’t worry. In a few years, Disney will claim the movie as a success and the public will believe them.
Around 3 years ago....they made ‘Cats’. My wife forced me to go with her to it. I literally fell asleep by 45 minute point. Even she admitted that it was a loser.

Yuck. I bet that the plot was predictable. Does she make you watch Hallmark? Seriously, we love our wives and will watch “chick flicks” with them as long as they do the same in return.

Should have made it a comedy and used only trans performers.
There are a lot of good movies out there - on free sites such as Tubi and Popcorn Flix.
Plus I heard they didn’t have a single riot throughout the whole movie?
Can you imagine if they made a comedy mocking today’s ideas of social justice and political correctness? It would be condemned by every pervert in Hollywood, which is most of them, and boycotted by the entire left wing. I bet it would still make a big profit.
