Vegetarians are never in “the pink of health”. They’re literally always greenish of death.

I am wondering just who might have paid for this study?

That said, I dont trust much of anything that comes from Harvard these days. A good reputation, once lost, may not be recoverable.

I did low carb and lost 25 pounds in 6 months.

LOTS of meat, cheese, eggs, butter.

This, from Harvard Community College (formerly a respected university.)

Animal protein is superior, from my years of experience and research. Plant protein, typically soy trash, is loaded with endocrine disruptors, pushing girls into early menarche and giving boys moobs; and it's genetically modified an an astonishingly high level.

“Five LCD indices were examined: (1) a total LCD (TLCD) emphasizing overall lower
carbohydrate intake; (2) an animal-based LCD (ALCD) that emphasized animal-sourced protein and
fat; (3) a vegetable-based LCD (VLCD) that emphasized plant-sourced protein and fat; (4) a healthy
LCD (HLCD) emphasizing less refined carbohydrates, more plant protein, and healthy fat; and (5) an
unhealthy LCD (ULCD) emphasizing less healthful carbohydrates, more animal protein, and
unhealthy fat.”

Right there you have extreme bias: “an unhealthy LCD (ULCD) emphasizing less healthful carbohydrates, more animal protein, and unhealthy fat.”

“Table 1 presents the baseline characteristics of study participants in extreme quintiles (Q1 and Q5) of baseline overall LCD scores (eTable 1 in Supplement 1).

Comparing participants in Q5 vs Q1 TLCD score at baseline, the median (IQR) energy percentages from carbohydrates were 40.4% (37.1% to 42.8%) vs 57.2% (55.0% to 60.3%) in NHS, 40.9% (38.0% to 42.9%) vs 58.6% (56.3% to 62.0%) in NHSII, and 38.3% (34.9% to 41.1%) vs 56.8% (54.1% to 60.5%) in HPFS.

Participants who were more adherent to an overall LCD at baseline were more likely to be current smokers, had lower physical activity levels, lower daily calorie intake, higher BMI, and were more likely to have a family history of diabetes (Table 1)”

Total Low Carb diet had a minimum consumption of 40% or more. As in their discussion of previous results, saying

“However, in the DIETFITS trial that compared healthy low-fat (48% carbohydrates) and healthy low-carbohydrate (30% carbohydrates) diets, there was no significant difference in weight change between groups.23 Similarly, a 2009 RCT by Sacks et al24 showed no significant differences in weight loss between diets with 35% and 65% carbohydrates”

HINT: 35-45% carbs is NOT LOW CARB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another example: “Consistently, the PREDIMED trial documented that a high-fat (41.2% fat, 40.4% carbohydrates), extra-virgin olive oil–supplemented Mediterranean diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes, significantly reduced weight by 0.4 kg on average, compared to a low-fat diet (37.0% fat, 43.7% carbohydrates).”

If you are studying diets with 40-43% of calories coming from CARBS, you are NOT STUDYING LOW CARB.

And to make it worse? “After adjusting for demographics and baseline and concomitant changes of selected lifestyle factors, each 1-SD increase in TLCD score was associated with 0.06 (95% CI, 0.04-0.08) kg more weight gain over the 4-year periods....”

We’re discussing differences in weight gains of TWO OUNCES over a FOUR YEAR period!

Just make sure it’s Grass-Fed Beef.

That’s best, but just about any kind of meat is better than high-carb, processed crapola.

1. Agenda-driven garbage. Consider the source.

2. Four years?? I’m sure all these self-reporters were TOTALLY honest about how well they kept the diet over 4 years!

3. I’m not sure a 40% carb diet counts as “low carb.”

Baloney! Decades old studies? Bah! The keto rage hasn’t been prevalent long enough to be in a decades old study. Plant based fats healthier than meat or dairy fat? I call nonsense! Just another bunch of greenies wanting to get rid of meat and dairy foods.

The study is from Harvard and has no credibility because it was plagiarized, just like all the other Harvard studies.

Have a pal that lost over 100lbs on the carnivore diet. He’s down to 200. Took like 6 months.

I keep 170 on the warrior diet. Eat whatever at one sitting. Not recommended for females though.

It usually involves pizza, maybe a salad, cookies, potato, milk/ice cream, etc.

My body tells me what it wants.

Hard to get into, but if you want to get into fighting shape, it does a miracle.

I’m on the Jack Daniels diet. So far I’ve lost 3 days.

Maybe if you had switched to the Jim Beam diet, you might have lost 5 days by now.
