You couldn't make this up. I guess there will be no carved ice sculptures to brighten their lives after their harrowing experience.

What are their choices? Sheesh! FINE! Leave them there! I bet they don't stay any more than a couple of weeks with no food and water.

"Some of these people are still looking for their families," said Andrew Biar, a spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. "They don't want to go. They feel safe here."
Would you leave again?

They'll never leave the dome. They have better living conditions there than they ever had at home. They'll have to drag them out of there by force at some point and I can just imagine the hollering when that happens.

Not sure about the Antartica comment, but you know accommodations on a cruise ship would provide privacy and better food than they are getting now at a minimum.
My daughter has gone on the ship out of Galveston twice and they are luxurious floating palaces. Not a bad place to stay for the next few weeks or months while you get your feet on the ground so to speak.

Some residents prefer to focus on finding family members while others want more time to explore options for getting on with their lives. All are struggling to comprehend the dramatic changes that have happened to them in less than a week.
"NO! I am scared," Sandra Johnson, 55, said at the thought of moving to a cruise ship. "I done seen enough of water."
That's understandable. Plus they will be more partial to the south rather than the north and midwest.

From the article
"NO! I am scared," Sandra Johnson, 55, said at the thought of moving to a cruise ship. "I done seen enough of water." Donna Smith, 24, wants to leave the sports arena, but not to a boat. She hopes to find an apartment for herself and her children, including 5-month-old Dakota.
"I can't live over water. I can't swim," she said. "I wouldn't want to see no more water. I saw enough already."
I guess I can understand those fears, but if I were in their position, I supect I'd be trying hard to overcome them. At least there's a little privacy there are locks to the doors and each room has a bathroom (though small).

Nothing to loot on the boat, what fun could there possibly be?
To: wildbill
Its just crazy. Private rooms, world class chefs, casinos, floor shows? (ok, maybe cancel the floor shows).
Yet they want to hunker down on cots in a stinky stadium.
I don't get it. These people were too dumb to save.!
