the company mgmt was pumping it all the way during that time - like the rest of wall street, pumping it to keep the little guy in, while dumping and shorting their own shares.

the period of the lates 90s into 2000, was the biggest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the elites, in US history. and very few have been prosecuted for it.

You've not posted Enron's donation's. The DNC got lots more cash than the republicans. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/610400/posts

my actual sense is that the bleeding started way back in the golden years of Clinton, when the DBM propped up that sucker with false stories of how rich we all were getting....

as a wage earner, I can tell you that my wages went up very litte, my insurances and utility bills and medical costs and property taxes went skyrocketing...

IMO and AFAIK and IIRC , all the major financial misdeeds started or occurred during the Toon years, but only got prosecuted in the Bush years...

Well, it looks like Linda stands to benefit handsomely from the death. The estate will get back the bond KL posted for the criminal trial - $5 million worth of family property, including one (or more) of his children's home mortgages/deeds.

The $43 million judgment goes away. And one TV legal commentator said that since KL had never given his deposition for the civil trial, or even had the opportunity to plead the 5th Amendment on it, it may be very difficult to prosecute it. (This was from a person who is nearly always pro-defense, so I take it with a grain of salt, but it sounds reasonable on the face of it - and they no longer have the indictment or conviction on all those charges from the now-deleted criminal trial to which they can point in the civil trial.)

Lay's death won't affect Skilling's conviction or sentencing, though, other than he will be in court alone. I noticed they said October 23 was the sentencing date, so I must have missed a motion somewhere - last I recalled, it was supposed to be 9-11-06, which was so symbolic.

Cause of death was a heart attck but the Liberals are saying in the Chat rooms Lay's death is a hoax.

This is sad for the Lay family but hysterical to watch the looney Left! (shaking head in amazement)

Mesa County (CO) Coroner in Grand Junction is coming on TV soon in a press conference concerning Lay's death. I'll post what I hear ... oh, here it is.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Rob Kurtzman ... don't know why this wasn't Pitkin Co. He was pronounced dead in Grand Junction. Oh, Kurtzman said he and one other are *it* for the region. (We on the Ramsey case knew that!)

Coronary artery disease is the cause of death. No evidence of foul play. No unusual injuries. He had severe coronary artery disease. There was evidence of a previous heart attack.

Tox and micro to come later out of Pitkin Co.

Exam is completed; remains have been returned to family. Pitkin Co. coroner and sheriff's office will be handling questions after this.

When the stock drops 66% in less than a year, people need to be grownups and assess for themselves.

Enron was an company run by honest men, with honest accounting, and it ran into the ground, that would be one thing. Ken Lay and his enablers lived like kings, defrauded their workers, and played on their sense of loyalty with lies to keep their fraud going. This was criminal, and ruined thousands of workers' finances. So yes, you should "feel sorry" for honest, working people who believe their employer and put their earnings into a 401(k) plan, touted by their company until it collapse due to fraud. Even if they should have been better-educated about investing, and more skeptical of management and accounting they are indeed victims here.

Well, I only hope all those Enron employees that got nothing for thier loyalty protest in a big way, his funeral. He got off tooooo easy. Some former Enron people may not have their homes anymore and he had the luxury to die in his "vacation" home in Denver. I hope he can be sued for his assets.

I've been meaning to get back here today and make a correction to you on the DOD - Date of Death.

9-1-1 was called around 1AM Mountain Time in Aspen, on July 5th. He was transported to Aspen Valley Hospital and was pronounced dead around 3:30AM, also MDT. Apparently the latter took place in Grand Junction, CO, according to the Mesa County (CO) Coroner.

At any rate, it wasn't the 4th of July anymore, it was July 5th.

Great Research!

However, I am having a problem finding where in the David Brock article it states that Enron and/or Lay gave more money to the Democrats?

If people had their life savings in the stock these means one of two things: they failed to diversify by selling shares of stock that had vested or they took savings they already had and deliberately overweighted their portfolio toward Enron stock.

They could not control what their employer put in their 401k. Enron only put in Enron stock for the employer contribution. Employees were not allowed to sell any those shares until the age of 50. Even if they left the company.

So I repeat. They had no choice with a substantial part of what was in the 401k.

That is one lousy thing to do to your employees, to prevent them from diversifying the employer contributed portion of their 401k.

So I guess this puts an end to any civil suit against him to recover the lost millions. That would seem to be a good reason for suicide or maybe it's a combination disappearance and coincident homicide of a look-alike. With the kind of coin he had, I have no doubt something like that could be arranged. If I were among the attorneys representing shareholders, I would demand DNA evidence of his demise.

Civil suits can continue-- his estate will be substituted as defendant.

The criminal case, on the other hand, will be dismissed-- the Government is not allowed to collect criminal fines from the estate of a dead man.

He won't be going to a nice place. I really hope his family doesn't get to keep a penny. Little more than a common criminal.

While he was a very corrupt and sleazy golfing buddy of bill clinton

this is something the lamestream media and libRats like to keep quiet - all those crooks were doing their dasTURDly deeds while their buddy, Buffoooone, was in the WH...and it took Bush and team to come in and start cleaning house. (And the above named cronies try to smear Bush with their perpetrations...which is, after all, the modus operandi of the socialists. After awhile, they begin believing their own lies.)

The stock market, under Bufooooone, was falsely inflated by all this. Now you see a stock market that has a bona fide foundation - and is higher. And where did I hear that?

NO where.

And was there ever a whisper of the connections between these scandals, the perpetrators and their WH bubbaBuddy?

"I have a dream" - Lay left a long letter, exposing the whole operation and who got what - and guess what? Guess where the links lead? (Aw, you guessed. )

Well, I can dream, can't I?

"Ken Lay did not destroy many lives - he destroyed one life: his own."

Horse crap. His fraudulent actions wiped out the life savings of a lot of people. The man did more damage than all but a few criminals have.

Feinstein, Boxer, Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton will. no doubt, line up to demand Lay be resurrected to serve out his prison term.

Anyone who knows what "Sarbanes-Oxley" means, understands that public corporations in America are already being punished for the crimes committed by Ken Lay's and others at Tyco and WorldCom.

No, but he'll be able to rant and rave about how Karl Rove had him killed so he couldn't talk.

LOL

But, seriously, it's the past pres. Bufoooone that had the most to worry about as to revelations of where the strings of corruption from Lay went - like who was his 'bubba' in the WH?

The corruption was from the 90's - The Bush team came in and started exposing them all - and taking them to justice.
