More Extremism from Obama's DHS
The New American ^ | May 6, 2009 | William F. Jasper

Posted on 05/06/2009 5:52:59 PM PDT by djsherin

The political profiling scandal at President Obama's Department of Homeland Security just keeps on growing. On Tuesday, May 5, the Washington Times reported on a newly leaked DHS document on "extremism" which reinforces concerns that the DHS is treading a dangerous path of attempting to stigmatize and criminalize, in the minds of members of the law enforcement community, those who dissent from or peacefully oppose government policies and the trend toward omnipotent government.

The new offending document, entitled "Domestic Extremism Lexicon," (click here to see a PDF version of the document) comes from the same bureaucracy within the DHS leviathan which produced another report on "Rightwing Extremism" that created a furor and forced DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to apologize to veterans groups last month. The "Domestic Extremism Lexicon," dated "26 March 2009," says it was "Prepared by the Strategic Analysis Group and the Extremism and Radicalization Branch" of the Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division. These offices, in turn, answer to the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis.

The Lexicon carries the warning it "is not to be released to the public, the media, or other personnel who do not have a valid need-to-know." According to the DHS document, the Lexicon "is one in a series of reference aids designed to provide operational and intelligence advice and assistance to other elements of DHS, as well as state, local, and regional fusions centers. DHS/I&A intends this background information to assist federal, state, local, and tribal homeland security and law enforcement officials in conducting analytic activities. This product provides definitions for key terms and phrases that often appear in DHS analysis that addresses the nature and scope of the threat that domestic, non-Islamic extremism poses to the United States."

"The Lexicon, for instance, defines "rightwing extremism" as:

A movement of rightwing groups or individuals who can be broadly divided into those who are primarily hate-oriented, and those who are mainly antigovernment and reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority. This term also may refer to rightwing extremist movements that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration. (also known as far right, extreme right)"

Sounds like an extremist is anyone who subscribes to the Rule of Law instead of the Rule of Men. I guess the Founding Fathers would be extremists. Me, too, for that matter.

Heh! It’s gonna be pretty hard to get law enforcement to agree that vets and “all of the above” Right Wing Extremists are evil, since a whole bunch of law enforcement are vets, didn’t vote for Obama, are against illegal immigration etc.

Well, Colin Powell was quoted on O’Reilly tonight as saying Americans want more government.

O’Reilly kept referring to him as a Republican. Even Ann Coulter said it was hard to be a black Republican.

I think, personally, that Colin’s done a Specter without the official paperwork.

those who are mainly antigovernment and reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority

Like that infamous rightwing extremist group that goes by the moniker "Montana"?

and those who are mainly antigovernment and reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority

WOW!

Who knew the Founders were such right wing extremists?

The feds can churn this garbage out until the cows come home. The only ones buying into it are on the socialist side anyhow.

With any luck, governmental stupidity like this will make folks take notice.

Maybe like those rightwing extremists that go by the name of Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, and Washington to name just a few.

The feds need to be careful. This country believes as it always has that when government becomes abusive or non responsive, it is the duty of the people to replace it. The early straws are in the wind already. Heed the warnings feds, we arent going to take this crap forever.

Is it any wonder that left wing governments often devolve into prison states? Between trying to keep down any sign of capitalism that may crop up and making certain that no one steps out of line, everyone is a possible suspect.

The leftists in DC may carry the title “federal” but when it comes to extremism, threats of terrorism and embracing fanaticism, those boys and girls are right up there as major threats to our liberty and security.

When they leave Fort DC and try to cause some mischief, they’ll get a clear idea of how much they’re loved. I’m still waiting for my two fat Marxist senators to show up at any townhall meeting. They’ve crawled in their DC ratholes and ain’t coming out.

But when Ashcroft and Bush rammed this DHS and the Patriot Act through Congress most here cheered and defended “our Presidents” wisdom and extolled the necessity and virtue of these new Gestapo laws. I will never forgive members here who helped foster an acceptance of this traitorous Act. Republicans were not champions of the Bill of Rights or individual rights at all in this case. It was just fine here as long as Rs not Ds had these new police state powers. We sure have the govt. we deserve now.

Those of us who warned that it was government getting these new powers and not the figurehead R or D politicians were screamed down and ridiculed by those here who were so fearful of cave dwelling camel humpers on the other side of the world that they sold their countries legacy of freedom. So don't start whining now.
