If the only thing the Susan G. Komen Foundation cared about was curing breast cancer they wouldn't spend a penny on anything else.

Exactly. If they have surplus funds, why aren't they sharing them with other organizations that focus on finding cures for other types of cancer? A breakthrough in parallel research could move Komen closer to its goal, too.

But no, it's really all about the "sisterhood", which in turn results in national leadership that has leftward-leaning personal interests.

If anybody cared about breast cancer they’d quit lying about the correlation with the pill.

Anybody seen a study using a group of women who NEVER USED THE PILL as the control group?

NO!
And you never will!

I must have missed the news that wearing ribbons actually cured diseases.

Last week I had to tell a dear friend that despite having over six relatives who have had BC, I could not in good conscience support the "Race for the Cure". This is pro-life woman who really didn't look beneath the surface. well, she is now.

My question is, how much of this is propping up nefarious industries?

I know what you mean. Several women in my family have had breast cancer, I don’t know any family that hasn’t been affected by it. EVERYONE wants EVERY type of cancer cured and but if a cure is their goal, the Komen Foundation shouldn’t be spending money on ANYTHING else.

I didn’t support Susan G. Komen Foundation before I knew the connection with Planned Parenthood and the other stuff. I didn’t support it because you just know that these groups are all about ways to siphon money because if they cared about everyone they’d be standing in support of all cancer survivors and victims, not just those with breast cancer.

Now I really, REALLY don’t support it.

Which is why I haven’t supported them. Even though my work is a big time sponser of Race for the Cure.

Get some flack about it but when I explain why most understand.

Isn’t it true that Komen finances breast cancer screening at planned parenthood clinics because there are more women who can benefit from the screening there at those clinics than if they set up screening at Pep Boys or the Sears tool section?

But hey, there’s always someone out there trying to take shots at someone trying to do a good thing.

You know, there are clinic bombers who think you’re pro-abort becuase compared to them you are.

In one way, being in nonprofit, I don’t have a problem with paying some overhead. I do have an issue with chapter offices of national 501c3s as I worked in one and know that they are much more corporate than not. And then giving $$$ to organizations outside of the mission...the least they could do is help pay off victims’ expenses. All the way around, it’s not a good way to run things, sexy disease or not.

Sadly very few people will get past the propaganda and go to the Komen site for their side of it, which of course directly opposes this posting.

Some people...ahem, ahem...care more about posturing than facts....if you aren’t totally with them they they will spread that word that you’re “pro abort”.

It is the pro-life version of the race card.

Have you bothered to look at what Komen has to say?

As transcribed from a recording of the meeting, CRTL asked, “Why aren’t women being told about the most preventable risk factor?” to which Komen’s Brandorff answered, “We tend to focus on the cure... we’re focusing our energies on that, rather than the preventative.”

I know an older man whose wife had an abortion back in the 60’s or early 70’s. She contracted breast cancer at a young age and died after a long battle.

I think the older generation doesn’t want to admit they participated in abortions. They are afraid and ashamed.

And this is why the link between abortion and breast cancer remains unknown.

I was one of those who tried to sue Planned Parenthood a long time ago. I’ll see if I can fine a link to the story.

Anyway, abortion stinks to High Heaven.
