For those who don't want either Romney or Perry, even if you'd never vote for either.

I was about to slam Perry for being a former Democrat, until I remembered that Ronaldus Magnus was one as well. Perry, by default over the RINOest candidate possible.

Fair enough. A sincere post like this is just fine, but I’m not looking forward to reading all the folks explaining they don’t like either. Like, I didn’t already know....

Why should we be forced to answer such a speculative question, especially when neither of these candidates are particularly attractive? My first answer was honest, yes. But no more honest than this one.

I'm really not a fan of any politician. I've determined that neither of these two are staunch defenders of individual liberties or the idea of limited government, so it is quite difficult for me to get very excited about the upcoming election, or to say that I have even the slightest bit of interest in either Romney or Perry.

If Perry gets elected, the nation will learn what Texas knows - that he talks a good game during the campaign, but once he wins, he doesn't live up to the image he created.

If Romneycare isn't proof that Mitt lacks the understanding of limited government, then what is?

I also realize that my litmus test is completely impractical by today's nanny state-loving standards. People don't want to solve their own problems but at the same time bitch and moan when the government, by virtue of the power given to it by the nanny state-loving public, completely and utterly screws them. Every two years, we reshuffle the deck and give our future to another group of people who have little to no knowledge or respect of the Constitution or the idea of American governance.

So if you really want to talk about the future, we need to start having a conversation about how to move society away from the Progressive idea that answers to all of our problems lie in the hands of an all-powerful centralized government. Until we have that conversation, and until the American people decide that the few remaining liberties we still have are in danger of disappearing forever, then our fate remains the same, no matter who sits in the White House.

WolfCreek, please don't take this personally.

Do you see any conflict with Perry signing that bill, in light of his brainchild the Trans-Texas corridor, and what that effort would have ushered in?

Read this:  LINK

He introduced legislation that would have led to 4,000 miles of corridor across the United States.  It was to be 1,200 feet wide.  That's 22.3% of a mile wide, just under a quarter of a mile.  Think of it as four football fields end on end, and that's only how wide it was intended to be.

This guy was prepared to take see hundreds of thousands of acres (over 500 thousand) of private land taken from the citizens of the United States, to see his plan come to fruition.  And for what, to import as much more product as he could from poor nations to the south.  This is a guy who knows how to creat non-governmental U.S. jobs?  No, this was a guy about to displace millions more, moving them south out of the U.S.  And to do it, he was prepared to set up a government works project on a massive scale.

They actally started work on this, from what I understand.  Perry only gave up on the project last year January, 2010.  He spent eight years trying to push this dead cat bounce.

These points have probably already been made (don't have time to read all of the above posts).

1) Both are better than O'SpendItAll
2) Perry would be more electable based on the next election will be about the economy
3) Either, when in, would be one term (and they know it) if they did not go hard core fiscal conservative as well as dismantle or neuter many of the worthless Agencies such as the DOE, Interior, EPA, NEA and such.

I see Perry as the stronger of the two, but it is very early in the race.

At least the Left is out hard against him already, and early. They are afraid of Perry, based on Tx current economic standing, if anything else.

Palin will be handwritten by myself if either of these RINOs are chosen.

I bow to no one in my devotion to conservative principles, but I would like to inject a note of reality here. If a RINO such as Perry or, worse yet, Romney gets the nod, we can write in Palin, but she will not win. What will happen is that Obama would get 42% of the vote, the Republican would get 40, and Palin would get 18. My numbers are probably off by a little, but a Tea Party candidate, whether a write-in or a third party choice, would definitely siphon enough votes away from Romney or Perry to ensure a second term for Barack Obama.

although your intent is clear, and your heart is certainly in the right place, just think about the consequences to America of a second Obama term--one in which he is unrestrained by any thoughts of having another election to win. He would almost certainly get to choose another supreme Court justice. So, if you like Kagan and Sotomayor, you'll love his next pick. Eric Holder will still be running Justice, with none available to white people. The budget process will include more of the shuck and jive nonsense and out of control spending we've witnessed in his first term, wiyh its horrific effect on jobs, the housing market, and the stock market. New and more restrictions will be placed on our liberties by czars and other hand-picked bureaucrats.

I could go on all day about the consequences of an Obama reelection. I certainly respect your right to cast a protest vote, but understand that it will be just that. If a Tea Party favored candidate does not win the republican nomination, he or she has no chance in the general election. And, while it breaks my heart to say it, a vote for Palin is nothing more than a vote for Obama, and, for that reason, I will support the republican nominee, even if it turns out to be Perry, or, worse yet, Romney. I am prepared for the flames this exercise in pragmatism will bring. I am not prepared for four more years of Barack Obama.

WolfCreek, I don’t want to disagree with you, but I’m sick and tired of politicians spending up to eight years of their time doing one thing, then deciding they want to be president, and doing one thing in a few moments they think that will cancel out almost a decade of abysmal behavior.

I don’t trust this guy. I have plenty of reasons to think along those lines.

In state tuition to foreign nationals?

What’s the point of being a citizen any longer? What’s the point of playing by the rules?

I’m sick to death of politicians like this, thumbing their nose at us for a deacade, and then claiming they’re our best friend, honest, when they want our vote.

Give me someone who doesn’t have to do a 180 to run. Please.

I’m quite aware of the event issue. I even marched on the state capital in protest.

Knowing Perry, he saw this as a fantastic way to upgrade Texas infrasructure and bring a ton of money into the state coffers. (btw: we still need that upgrade, badly)

As with other proposal from Perry, when the people rose up and demanded it be stopped, he copitulated.

How many Pols do that sort of things these day? How many actually listen to their citizens?

I believe Perry has changed for the better. I think out of the current field, he has the best chance to unseat the Marxist.

This, I feel, is our #1 goal this election cycle. There no way in Hell Perry could f%$kup things worse than they already are.

“That question is no more asinine than the one you ask”

Huh? I asked how you’d feel the morning after the election. In one case, its Mitt who won. In the other, its Rick.

You can come on down from the attic, I did not ask you to vote for anyone.

“Sounds better than anything being offered to date.”

LOL!!!

I believe so too. That is why I offered it.

I wonder how much it would cost to launch my cats into the elections. If an illegal (for the presidency) can occupy the WH, so can my cats.

The difference is the present one is a tree dweller.
On the other hand, my cats who should become president will occupy themselves full time chasing rats.

I was a big Palin fan initially but have cooled. She is all talk lately. If she isn't going to run she should "Just say No." I thought it was tacky of her to go into the Iowa fair yesterday on her bus and try to steal the lime light. If she wasn't running, she should have stayed away. I lost respect for her. It made her look like she is now chasing the media.

Palin did that when Romney declared and she did that when Bachmann declared.

Palin is not "chasing the media". She is CHASING THE MONEY.

That "Chase for the Money" is what explains all of her behavior. .... including keeping her loyal supporters waiting .... and waiting ... and waiting ...... when any serious candidate would have started lining up fundraisers, staffs, campaign managers, etc., long ago if they seriously thought that they had any chance whatsoever of actually getting elected President.

Things are going exactly as Sarah Palin intended them to go and her objectives are being accomplished.

The decision about the run was made a while back. Bristol Palin spilled the beans last June 28 when she said on Fox and Friends, "You know, she definitely knows. We've talked about it before. Some things just need to stay in the family."

"Some things just need to stay in the family"?

After Bristol's "tell-all" book (which will be highly embarrassing to her son 13 years from now when he reads a copy), what could possibly need to "stay in the family"?

The fact that Palin is playing her supporters like a cheap fiddle, that's what.

Sarah Palin ceased to be a serious politician long ago and is now a media celebrity. It is a very lucrative gig.

April 15, 2010: Sarah Palin income 12 million dollars since leaving office

Palin's current profession is that of a very well paid entertainment celebrity whose main focus is maximizing her personal income and Bristol's income in the business of Reality TV shows, book sales, paid speeches, paid appearances and paid interviews.

The primary goal that Palin has is to maximize the profitability of her Sarah Palin™ Brand.

Why did Donald Trump pretend to be running for President, why is Newt Gingrich still pretending to run for President and why does Sarah Palin keep teasing and teasing and teasing about running for President?

Because it "enhances the Brand" and that translates into more money.

After praising Palin, Coulter goes on to say that she does not think that Palin will run for president. Hannity counters by saying that Coulter is "unnecessarily narrowing the field" and that Palin has publicly said she is still considering a run. It is at this point that Coulter reveals, "I think she's saying that because she also said Newt Gingrich told her you can get higher speaking fees if you pretend you are running for President."

Palin and FOX NEWS also have a very lucrative Kabuki Dance for Money game going on:

Due to the "Equal Time" provision of Section 315 of the Communication Act, TV networks cancel the contracts of employees that are serious Presidential candidates. Yet, Palin and FOX News continue a very cozy relationship that is very lucrative for both of them:

1.) Sarah Palin spends a week here and a week there pretending to, maybe, run for President. Such a fake "teaser" campaign does not trigger Section 315.

2.) FOX News hypes each of her fake "teaser" campaigns.

3.) At the end of each fake campaign, Palin's loyal supporters and the curious Palin non-supporters then drive the FOX ratings as Palin appears in an "exclusive FOX interview of Sarah Palin" where one FOX employee (Palin) is being paid to be interviewed by another FOX employee that is paid to toss Palin cream puff questions.

4.) Palin cashes her paychecks and FOX News gets their ratings bonanza.

5.) Rinse and repeat, again and again and again for as long as the Kabuki Dance for Money game keeps generating money for both Fox and Palin.

The longer Sarah Palin keeps playing the teasing game, the more money the Sarah Palin™ Brand brings in. Therefore, Sarah Palin will play the teasing game as long as she can possibly get away with it.

If that keeps her loyal supporters "Waiting for Godot", ...... Well, too bad, so sad, ....... That is what needs to happen to keep the money rolling in.

Palin may even be able to keep playing the game until the first primaries because, since she is not hiring any professionalstaff, a fake "campaign" (where she actually declares but spends no money on staff to actually win) will not put her into debt like the campaigns of Hillary and Gingrich put them in personal debt. Newt Gingrich has been playing that game since his staff quit.

Whatever she does, I predict that the end result will be a maximization of the Sarah Palin™ Brand income.

As far as actually winning the general election in November of 2012?

Well, let's just say that there are none so blind as those that absolute refuse to see.
