After winning the Florida primary, GOP presidential nominee hopeful Mitt Romney explains to CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien that he is focused on a particular portion of the American population in his campaign. Romney says, "I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs a repair , I'll fix it. I'm not concerned about the very rich.... I'm concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling."

Yes! I think this early voctory has already puffed up Romney. He is saying the same thing as Obama now..the middle class...daaaa! Where the heck do most of the middle class get their job from? Daaaa! Go Newt!

Why not? You don't believe that heartless capitalists are liberal? If anything, I think most heartless capitalists are social or religious liberals.
And the converse is also true. I think it is difficult - if not impossible - for anyone who is a social or religious conservative to be a heartless capitalist.
We should all be concerned about the very poor. Newt wants them to have a job somthey can be self-sufficient. Romney apparently thinks that we should just forget about them and let the taxpayers keep footing their bills. Of course, all statists feel this way as a voter dependent on the state is an easy vote to win for a statist. Romney is a statist.
There are many different shades of Capitalism, free-market capitalism is but one variation.
In other words, Romney wants to keep the poor poor.
-—Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.-—
A case can be made for the point he was making, but those words could never roll off my tongue under any circumstances.
IOW, you’re right.

Good. Mitt is right.
I don't care about the povs either. I've been forced at gunpoint to provide for their every worldly need since I've been born and never once got a TY. Screw 'em. Let nature take it's course. And I don't care what libs think of that nor should he. Don't hide truth under a PC bushel. Break the chains. |
“We have a safety net there. If it needs a repair , I’ll fix it.”
To paraphrase
We already have a variety of redistributionist programs in place. If the left/media want more I’ll raise taxes and increase funding to existing programs, or create new ones.
The middle-class has taken the biggest hit from this Food Stamp President and Mittens is right to point it out.
Check this one out Mittens strikes again. I have one word fro this is perception and the perception for Mittens isn’t good.

First thing Romney’s said right.
I’m sick of the poor.
Fellow Freeper,
If you can get me a link to the quote “States can establish a religion, fed govt cant. states can require health insurance, fed govt cant.” I can get it out there to people who will have a major fit over it. But I need a direct link to cite. Can you help find it? I was unable to find it.
Thanks,

Most people understand that the “very poor” sometimes do better economics wise than some in the middle-class off the back of the middle-class.

This sort of reminds me of McLame in 2008 holding up a “Global Warming is Real” banner after winning a primary somewhere.
Mittens is a pandering fool who really is tone deaf when it comes to political reality. I likes to fire people, he doesn’t care about the very poor, he has not only distanced himself from conservatives but he is tearing the GOP apart.
At the present rate, he is assuring a second term for Hussien.
First thing Romneys said right.
Im sick of the poor.
You might want to qualify that..
My family is poor. I bust my ass daily working 2 jobs to keep us afloat.
The county (welfare) would love to lavish us with hand outs. We turn them down.
