Go Home, Sarah. You’re Drunk.

Today we saw someone who was once a rising star in the conservative world explode in an inglorious display of crass opportunism.

Sarah Palin, that darling of a failed John McCain presidential bid, has resurfaced to throw her voice and her support behind the gilded toad of the GOP, Donald Trump. Where she was once a strong Tea Party leader, promoting free market ideas, limited government, and power back in the hands of the people, today she forsook it all, in favor of a big government, foul mouthed, Wall Street liberal with atrocious hair.

Far too often, we see that power corrupts and fame can be an intoxicating drug. Palin and her family became a political hot topic in 2008, targeted by comedians and tabloids, as well as the conservative punditry, anxious to foist this fresh, bold, "Mama Grizzly" into the limelight, and to sweep up ratings for themselves along the way. For a bit, it worked. Voters and TV execs alike were enthralled by she and her whole family. Daughter Bristol, as an unwed mother to a beautiful baby boy, even wrote a book about abstinence and toured the nation to give the warning to wait, don't do what she did, learn from her poor judgment! She even got a reality TV show out of it for a short while.

Maybe Edward can produce Rafael to do a few hits on Palin.

Where has Rafael been the past three weeks or so?
Seems he was around prior to that.

Governor Palin did not fail Senator McCain.
Senator McCain failed Governor Palin.

She shouldered more abuse in six months than fifty of us together will carry in a lifetime.
Governor Palin is a relentless fighter supporting what is exceptional about our country.

What’s really funny is that you guys think this kind of crap is actually helping your cause. You’re driving more people away than you are bringing in. If you did have a legitimate argument at this point, you and the rest of your ilk have so destroyed your credibility that nobody would even listen.

"Then the novelty began to wear off. The Tea Party hasnt been as active, outside of social media, so there werent as many opportunities for Palin to stand before a crowd..."

I am the "Tea Party." WE are the "Tea Party." We never wanted personal credit and we never were named... But we are more "active" than ever. We don't have heroes or heroines. We have patriotism and passion and we are heavily armed and heavily educated. We believe in a distant cause for Americen men and women of all races - "liberty" - and we are going to win.

Just more brilliant debate skills from Cruz supporters. I wonder if Ted knows that his supporters generally just call everyone that disagrees with then a big stupid poopy-head every day in his name.

What a stupid, pathetic article. You should be ashamed of yourself for posting it.

The sour grapes around here are amazing.

If Sarah Palin supports Cruz she would be lauded today as a fighter, and a champion to the people. Now that she backs Trump she’s white trash, a dupe, and a money grubbing you know what. As a former Walker supporter now supporting Cruz I remember those of us who supported the governor got the same kind of vitriol that Sarah is getting now. She made her decision and so move on. Right now I’m getting so ambivalent about Trump and Cruz. I will vote for Cruz in my primary but I’m thinking the hell with it and do a write-in ballot for Jeff Sessions instead.

Eric Ericson has been exposed this election cycle. The GOP is having a civil war, perhaps with more than two factions.

But he's not much of a writer, so I think his future has been badly diminished. It might be interesting to write a analysis of the Trump vs. Cruz split and what compelled Palin to side with one of the sides. This article reads like it was written by a 16 year old, though. Mostly invective.

There are many better blogs out there. RedState was sort of an aggregation blog, but now that it's weighed in so heavily on one side of the civil war it's lost the impartiality needed in that role. And, because it's so badly written, it's not really ever going to be "must read" material, like some of the higher quality authors out there (Victor Davis Hansen, Mark Steyn).

So, the Trump campaign has pretty much imploded RedState. I don't think we'll see Eric Ericson on This Week anymore. He has made it there a time or two, but his 15 minutes of fame are over.

And of course, he's been savagely lampooned by the Alt-right. And, he doesn't get it.

He really is a sort of sad figure in American politics at this point.

How can I ever support Cruz if this is the average supporter? Jealous, hate-filled bozos who will trash anyone who dares to not believe in St. Rafael.

Yesterday morning they were crowing that Sarah was going to endorse Cruz. Then Bristol Palin’s tweet serviced. There was nervous rumbling among the Cruz hordes. Then Sarah endorsed him and the slimy attacks began. Disgusting.
