In all of the hoopla and bs surrounding the "final farewell" for McCain, one person seems to be significantly absent in it all.
That person in the original Mrs. John S. McCain: Carol McCain. For those who do not know, she was married to McCain when he was shot down over Vietnam. Prior to his deployment, Carol McCain was, by all accounts, quite a beauty. She was a 5' 7" tall, a successful swimsuit model, and the mother of three children (one by McCain, and two by an earlier marriage that McCain adopted). While McCain was a POW, she had an automobile accident that wrecked havoc on her body: she ended up at 5'3" tall due to the massive damage to her pelvis and her legs. She also gained some weight as a result.
McCain came back, saw this physically broken woman that was waiting for him, and promptly started running around (according to numerous accounts of his life, it was "well known" that John had numerous girlfriends during this time period). While still on active duty as an 0-6 Captain in the US Navy, he met Cindy Hensley (17 years his junior, and from a very wealthy family in Arizona), started dating her (while still married to Carol), and even filed for a marriage license with Cindy while still married to Carol!!! The rest is history.
None of this is new information...it has been out there in public records forever.
If I (as a former officer in the US Army) had done something like that, I would have been court-martialed for adultery and conduct unbecoming an officer! But....my daddy was a medically retired E-7, not a full admiral like his daddy and granddaddy.
My point is this...we all know why the MSM and the left are lionizing this adulterer and liar: it gives them yet another public forum to vent their anti-Trump rage.
McCain destroyed his original family to stroke his ego. That is much like the stories from some of the other POW's calling him Songbird: allegedly, he "sung" to his captors, betraying his country and thereby destroying the lives of other Americans to save his own life.
Good riddance to bad rubbish, in my opinion.
(PS: I think this is my first post in 10 or 12 years (although I read FR daily), so if I have done soemthing wrong, please let the admins feel free to delete it. It just really bugs me to see this circus happen without even a slight mention of the woman who stood by him while he was a POW.)
You have succinctly encapsulated something that had been burning all weekend and I just couldn't bring myself to put it all together.
McCrisis was a philanderer, an adulterer, and unashamed of it. He learned it from "The Admiral". They're a rotten branch on the Irish tree. If there was any justice the ghost of Brian Boru would erase the "Mc" from his headstone, because "Cain" John was and all he would ever be...

Your post is more than appropriate. You speak for Carol Shepp McCain.
The public philandering of other people of note are known but in so doing, few trashed their family and prostituted themselves like McCain.
Perhaps with today’s funeral, we can say another “long national nightmare is finally over”.

It takes an extraordinarily self center person, one verging on being a sociopath, to willingly divorce themselves from a family they helped to create. I’m not preaching. Not really.
I don’t have any kids, therefore, I cannot speak as someone who has lived that life. Still, I’d like to think I wouldn’t just turn my back on them because I was ‘bored’ with their mother
and the ordinary working class lifestyle she came from. Never mind how much it tore up the family scrapbook of memories.
I don’t know how I would act were I suddenly to become wealthy or famous. Pronounced material advantages have different effects on different people.
Many Hollywood types are known to have done this, for one reason or another. Two of this description would be Jerry Lewis and Bing Crosby,

You’ve told the story better than anyone else has. One other aspect that has to be added is that Cindy was even at that time a socially well connected and very rich heiress, thus further enhancing McCain’s political ambitions.
Carol McCain was wished into the corn field many years ago. Many POW families broke up after the POW’s returned. Many of the wives couldn’t take it, and even if they had not left their husband that discovered that that man was not the same man who left so many years before. All understandable.
But, McCain’s story was different and it appears that he was the one doing the dumping. It was ugly, but the media made sure that she became a non person. This is the first mention that I have seen since McCain died.
I have NEVER had respect for MCCain because of his adultery and abandonment of his first wife and children. Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me if he also screwed around on Cindy.
In the moral code of that era, there was NOTHING lower that a Viet Nam fighter could do than leave a woman who waited for him. The deranged opposition had a false or exaggerated narrative about Senator Kerry, yet McCain’s actions are ignored? It’s evidence that the Deep State is used to choosing the President, and isn’t taking well to President Trump being a force of nature that overwhelmed their treachery.
Well, I remember a while back, he supposedly referred to Cindy using the ‘C’ word.
The only thing wrong is the Soemthing typo.
But she wasn’t a “non person” after the divorce. She worked for the Reagan White House until 1987, then other planning events until she retired in 2002.
This is just one of many reasons that some of think McCain is a scum bag.
