Why is he taking the blame?
He should take the position that it’s Pelosi and Schumer that are keeping the government shut down. It’s within their power to reopen their beloved government tomorrow.
Why are repubs so quick to take the blame? That was true when Obama was there - in that case he managed to shift the blame to the republican congress.
And deny the democrats their permanent voting majority, which this circus is really all about.
Shut it all down permanently.
Hell Yeah.Do it Mr President.
A years-long shutdown means he will be POTUS for years.

Situation’s not hopeless, far from it with our CoC in the saddle. Forward into battle!
I’m wondering if this is why Mattis
was fired. He wouldn’t agree with a
national emergency for the border
mess.
It is a law, passed by Congress. Got to wonder if it is Constitutional. It sure deprives the military commander of the power to defend the country.
So would all of those government workers who aren’t working now but are going to get paid anyway eventually be able to look for other work then collect a nice fat bonus check when the government finally reopens? Nice work if you can get it.
Since the issue wont go away, he should just do it. Let the Army Corps of Engineers build it and be done with it. The dems will scream and hollar/holler for a few months until they find something else to criticize.
Yes means yes.
I tend to agree, this idea of pushing him into the corner and removing the wall as a topic...they really gambled badly on this strategy.
If you go around the DC area and look at gov’t employees....there’s probably well over 2,000 of them who are living month to month, and their debts equal their entire paycheck. Between car, house, credit card, and college loan debt...they are marginally making it, with $100,000 coming in. And there are couples with a combined $250,000 of income in DC, who have nothing left as each month comes and goes.
A month ago, I would have suggested that this debt crowd and those with only two months of savings...could have approached banks and asked for $25,000 loans to slide by for 60 to 90 days. But once he uttered ‘years’, I think bank managers are looking at the mess and worried about handing out ‘get-by’ loans to people. $25,000 won’t nearly be enough for people to survive for an entire year in DC.
The collapse of this fake stability in DC is about to come.
BP is bought off and now part of the problem
The Democrats will fold before March. Events may get in they way—like war, earthquakes or a flood. Once the checks stop coming to the inner cities and riots and burnings start—the pressure will mount to end this thing quickly. I am banking that Trump will will. Don’t play poker with Donald Trump!
National emergentcy
“ a move that in the past has meant sign-off from top House and Senate lawmakers, but that Trump might try to execute without that assent.”
Not true...Trump has sole authority to
declare a national emergency, but the
secretary of defense must agree with
with the president’s stated conditions.
Congress can offer resolutions to end
the national emergency every six months
after the emergency is declared. And
Trump can reject those recommendations
if he deems they don’t help to rectify
the emergency. There are 28 national
emergencies still in effect. SCOTUS
shies away from getting involved.
The wall plays tricks on my mind
Its everywhere but its so hard to find
