1) Air Traffic Controllers are still needed. This will affect commercial flights.

I believe Ann Coulter has accurately exposed the true reason the democrats have voted for a wall numerous times in the past, but now suddenly are adamantly opposed to it. They have 2020 in their sites. And they know if they can force Trump to cave on this issue it will do irreparable harm to his re-election campaign.

Let's lose "nonessential" for a minute; that's old language.

Coast Guard falls under Homeland Security, and our funding bill is one of the bills that is still being held. The ones engaged in public safety should be at work, since they are performing exempt functions; those who are in a support role are non-exempt and should be furloughed.

What I don't get is why they are in Homeland Security and not the DoD. They are a branch of the military, after all.

Every single poll out there shows that most Americans “blame” him for the shutdown.

On the other hand most Americans want the Border Wall too.

Which begs the question — what does “blame” mean? Do most Americans lament the shutdown?

I can say, yes, Trump shut down the government ( and that would count probably as “blaming” ) but hey, I don’t mind at all.

I agree. The only question is if he hasn't already sealed his fate. He should declared the State of Emergency when he said he could do it. One of his main campaign lines was that he wasn't going to announce things ahead of time; it only serves to warn the bad guys.

What is he thinking? This past long weekend was possibly the last sensible time to start the wall because of the national emergency which DOES exist at the border.

But fear not. A combination from Jeb, Romney, or Kasick will lose to whatever communist the dems finally nominate.
