There are a lot of solid conservatives frustrated and appalled by the Biden Riots, and a lot of those folks wonder why Donald Trump doesn’t just make it all stop – you know, sort of like Grandpa Badfinger implicitly promises he will do if we restore the garbage liberal establishment, except with military force. “Call up the Guard,” right? But what folks do not understand are the practical problems with Trump using troops (sending federal law enforcement officers presents similar problems, but also a unique and big one – there just aren’t as many federal cops as there are soldiers). The devil is in the details, and the devil here makes Trump pulling the trigger on the troops in the current situation a very bad idea. We should support his strategic patience and not do what the Democrats want by getting mad at the president for refusing to stumble into an ambush.
Let me share some background. After I got off active duty the first time, I joined the California Army National Guard. For the next 23 years I participated in, planned, and commanded during multiple civilian support operations. I was in the Los Angeles Riots, the Northridge Earthquake, and I commanded two battalions along with other forces in northern San Diego County during the 2007 fires. I planned ops from platoon to state headquarters level, and wrote about civil support ops in Infantry magazine and even in a first-of-its-kind law review article. So, I know a little about this stuff.
And what I know tells me that, despite our fantastic soldiers’ abilities, this is a bad idea.

Haven’t figured that one out yet. Breaking federal law is a crime to state authorities anyway.
Stop right there... That makes them complicit in the insurrection and in the rampant criminality, and fully subject to arrest and imprisonment. Problem solved. End of story.
Guess what happens when you strike a FEDERAL officer? Or you’re arrested by the feds for rioting? You get prosecuted by the feds and totally bypass that limp-wristed county district attorney who’s dismissing all the local charges.
Local authorities are taken out of the picture.
Great article- I agree with KURT SCHLICHTER and his presentation of the problems that President Trump faces. Things just don’t work very well with hostile local leaders.

Has President Trump prevented this? Has it been tried? There are several existing active militias. They are specifically sanctioned by the Second Amendment.
I agree with Schlichter - If you are not willing to shoot rioters, do not send in troops.
Go in with the military make arrest. Bring in Federal Judges and prosecutors to prosecute the arrest. If the local judges or government gets in the way arrest them also charge them with aiding and a betting criminal behavior....
Kurt, as a former undercover operative in the 60’s (for the FBI and Congress) and then a street reporter covering demonstrations in DC for over 20 years, I’ve got to disagree with you on a number of issues.
Forget logistics. As long as you have helicopters, trucks, trains and airfields (Air National Guard, USAF, etc), you can supply any troops you’ve got.
You cannot forgot the rioters in the streets because it is more of a psychological warfare issue than just who controls the streets (and media).
My mentors in Psychological Warfare/Political Warfare were the late Ed Hunter (Brainwashing in Red China, etc.), Dr. Stephen Chow (OSS/CIA developer of the “Political Psychology” concept re how countries behave), former FBI undercover agent Herb “I Led Three Lives” Philbrick, Govt security expert and ex-Communist Herb Romerstein, Phil Luce, ex maoist leader of the Progressive Labor Movement/Party, David Horowitz, ex-red, and the reports/testimonies of other undercover operatives on what they saw inside “the movement” including the Weathermen.
That said, I was informed of a great street tactic during the war in Cambodia when a pro-Sihanouk mob killed two members of Parliament came to Chompong Cham to explain why Sihanouk was ousted. They were beaten to death in the streets (similar to what has happened to our police, National Guard and civilians by Antifa and BLM hit teams and mobs).
I asked Gen/Gov. In Tam what he did in response to the killings. He said, “I ordered my troops to shoot and they killed about a dozen rioters. After that we had not trouble”.
Works for me, if you do it right.
Snipers to take out LaserPointer attackers, as well as well documents (by film/photos and possession) of tools of arson/bombs/deadly things they are about to throw, firework bombs, etc. My son was a sharpshooter in Iraq. He could hit a target with an M249 at 1,000 yards, and did take out some terrorists. My son-in-law did the same in Kosovo and Desert Storm.
Film all of these attacks as evidence for any kind of hearing.
If a mob charges the police/soldiers, shoot them, in the legs if necessary, but thru their umbrellas when they protect armed attackers behind them (my “shoot the first three rows of attacks” rule).
There are a lot of non-lethal weapons in crowd control inventories including beanbag guns, rock salt, Skunk smell oil, Nausea (aka shit) gas, Bear spray, fire-hoses on full blast, shotgun fired nets, barbed wire fencing around an area (we had a similar jeep-delivered system in WW2 - I saw the films of it), old fashions “thumpers” (police batons aimed at arms and legs, not the head), paint sprayers to cover face masks, etc.
I’m Old School. Still have a DC policeman’s pepper gas shell in my chest of drawers, as a reminder.
You’ve got to take out the “LEADERS” and “SHOOTERS” immediately as well as their protectors.
Using “Snatch and Grab teams” is good if they are well trained and have on-the-ground backup support to suppress those trying to free the snatched.
Also, boxing in small crowds by the barb-wired fencing tactic of cutting off escape routes (streets, alleys, etc), getting photos of the mob, id cards, license plates, etc). will crush the spirits of even the most hardcore except the psychopaths.
Invoked the Insurrection Act saying that local governments are out of control and the constitutional rights of peaceful citizens and businesses are threatened with destruction and bodily harm/death.
Arrest any governor or mayor who interferes and nationalize the state National Guard if necessary, if not done already, BUT DO IT ALL AT ONCE. Don’t left the Dems and their street stormtroopers get organized and in control of the streets, highways, bridges, etc.
Put violators in jail and let the courts sort them out (if the courts and local DAs, prosecutors aren’t leftist shits) unless you charge the riotes with federal charges. Then its a whole new game. House suspects in federal military brigs, etc. Isolate them as much as you can and for as long as you can. Slow roll their court appearances. Spending time in jail is not what most of these snowflakes want.
Then notify their parents that they have been arrested on federal laws for violence, attempted murder of law enforcement officials, etc. If the parents are worth anything, they will have shit-fits, which is good. Let them put up the bail and suffer whatever else comes down the pike re the criminal behavior of their kids.
Never let the enemy take the initiative if possible. Never let them control the battlefield, the time of engagement, and what is done there (as in unopposed attacks).
I will bet that every undercover operative and many police officers I know or knew would agree with my tactics.
We must control the TIME, PLACE, TACTICS, and Rules of Engagement, not the enemy.
