Nearly 40 percent of workers could make more on unemployment at the $300 level than they would earn by returning to work, according to American Action Forum, a center-right policy institute. That doesn't sound very hopeful for any quick return to work.
300 a month is about 1.75 more per hour

I don't know where go do your math, but it is $300 per WEEK, not per month. $300/40 = $7.50/hr in addition to the normal state benefit.
In Pennsylvania, that is roughly $16/hour on the low end.
We aren't exactly in hog heaven here in one of the fringe counties around Pittsburgh, but the local McDonalds is advertising a $500 sign-on bonus for new workers. The local Sheetz is advertising a starting wage of $13.75/hour for zero experience.

Would be nice if Ohio had a real Republican governor.

The republican governors are only slashing the unemployment benefits because they cannot physically go out and slash the unemployed to death! (/antifa)
or maybe this
The republican governors are only slashing the unemployment benefits because want to watch the children of the unemployed to starve to death! (/Democrat)

“Normally when you’re getting unemployment, the whole idea is that’s temporary, and you need to be looking for work to be able to get off unemployment,” DeSantis said of the matter. “It was a disaster, so we suspended those job search requirements. I think it’s pretty clear now, we have an abundance of job openings.” “The demand is there. Businesses want to hire more people, and I think we can go in that direction very soon,” he added. Exactly, unemployment benefits are when there is no work, not an abundance of work.

And I’ll bet those jobs are real low paying. The bs about people not wanting to work is just that bs. Try paying people a decent wage and see how fast those get filled.

I told my grocer I was willing to pay $2.00/pd for bacon. I pleaded for cheap bacon but he wouldn’t listen.

Inflation much?
I do pay more. But if you get free rent, and more than enough from Uncle Sam to live on, why work?
That is what is going on. Why work when you can do what ever you want?

If all of this govt largess breaks the cheap labor express model then it will have good long term outcome.

Huge difference.
Although most states only give about 1300 a month, so employers have to beat 14 to 15 dollars an hour.

To properly apply your analogy of bacon:
Before the pandemic, bacon sold for $5 a pound. Sometimes you could get it on sale for $4/lb. Plenty of bacon for everyone because supply and demand had hit an equilibrium. Then, in response to farmers’ fear over COVID, the federal government started paying farmers $10/lb to destroy their bacon.
Now, you go to the store. No bacon. You ask your butcher, “Where’s the bacon?” He says, “Farmers won’t sell it to us for less than $12/lb. So, if you want bacon, shut up and pay more.”
Now, who is responsible for the increase in price and the bacon shortage. You, who won’t pay more for bacon, you selfish capitalist? Or the government?

I visited a local fast food drive thru recently. I about fell out of my seat when I saw this sign taped to the order taking speaker:
Please be patient with our employees. We are understaffed as no one wants to work.
