Horse crap. Most Americans agree that there is no vital American interest in Ukraine. The vast majority do not want to see US troops involved there.

Those who are skeptical represent a majority of the country. That is the consensus. It is the warmongers who are the fringe minority.

So you accept that Biden et al are on the proper side here, and see the national security interest, except they are not aggressive enough, is that about right?

Very simple for me: Watch those Wounded Warrior Project commercials and tell me why we want more of that from getting our troops involved in Ukraine.

Not at all. What's their justification from a US national security perspective? It seems to change quite a bit from week to week.

My point is that there needs to a compelling US national security interest. No matter who is in charge.

The Ukraine is an important piece of election fraud.

“Neocons don’t care even if it costs them the midterms they want to regain total control over the party.”

Apparently, they don’t seem to care if it costs us a full scale nuclear exchange, either. Just keep pushing a guy who everyone seems to believe is paranoid...who just happens to control 6,000 nukes - most of which are aimed at us. It shows how the thirst for power alters thinking. Sad that after 5,000 years of civilization nothing much has changed, nothing much has been learned.

You bet, Bush, deep state, D.C., and their media disciples of deceit hoodwinked the entire Republican party over the Iraq ginned up farce.

During Bush's entire 10 year long "Compassionate war" bull sh*t, costing trillions in American treasure, waves of tens of millions of illegals were pouring into the U.S. during the Bush era. Bush winked and nodded and was deemed a hero with his, choreographed production of, "Mission Accomplished horse s**t. Millions fell for it. Disgusting!

It's beyond outrageous how these criminal, "Government officials" get away with this country killing insanity by getting the people to support this madness.

I don’t follow that at all. I wouldn’t trust this administration to get out of a wet paper bag. The only GOP who would, would be neocons like Cheney. They need to explain how this is not a risk.

“If “we” “back” Ukraine then we need to go in with our military and HELP them and commit to war.”

There are many ways to “back” another nation in a fight for its existence. Ukraine has CLEARLY stated that they want weapons, THEY will do the fighting - they just need adequate tools.

You really want war with Russia? That, IMHO, is insane. Would we beat them conventionally? You betcha - because if a bunch of courageous by rather under-armed Ukrainians can hold back a good portion of the Russian Army for this long, we can certainly whip them very decisively.

But what happens then? Russia isn’t Libya or Afghanistan or Iraq - unlike them, it has 6,000 strategic nukes (and probably at least several hundred tactical ones) and they have a doctrine called “Escalate to de-escalate.” What does that mean? It means that if they’re in a war and cannot achieve their objectives, they escalate to nukes until they prevail, then de-escalate after wiping out the enemy. Do you seriously want to take a chance of that? Because if you do, you’re a damned fool - as backed up by 45 years of Cold War history, which showed that avoiding direct US-Soviet (same as Russian, so far as I’m concerned, esp. with a KGB colonel in charge) was the wisest course, together with containing them. All leaders of all significant parties throughout the Western world backed those ideas. But you’re willing to risk a nuclear exchange with Russia because...you want to show that ours is bigger than theirs?

Providing them with weapons - more than we have to date, to be sure - is a perfectly normal thing for any nation to do. We’ve had it done to our troops in Korea and Vietnam (Hell, in Korea we also directly tangled with several hundred thousand Chinese troops - but they had no nukes) and various Mid-East wars, and the Russians had it happen to them in Afghanistan. No one went to war with the main backer of the other side for those things - because they were sane, on both sides.

“I’m rooting for Ukraine, but not to the point where I’m rooting for direct US military involvement.”

Same here.

“The Democrats can’t have it both ways.

They tell us the Russians are losing because they don’t have enough troops.

Then, they tell us Russia could conquer Europe.

Can’t have it both ways.”

The Dems don’t have any foreign or defense policy - to them, those matters are utterly subservient to helping them rule over this country, and extracting public funds in the process, to the greatest extent possible.

As far as “can’t have it both ways,” the media constantly covers for them, and most people pay no attention to politics until it lands right on their doorstep or steals too much of their money. The Dems always get a free pass.

“Why are you rooting for Ukraine?”

Why **wouldn’t** you root for a country that didn’t do anything wrong and just got invaded by a few hundred thousand soldiers? Rooting for them doesn’t mean committing combat troops, mind you, it just means hoping that they get to keep their country, as opposed to letting an aggressive foreign power grab their territory and rule over their people.

The vote they are talking about here was 424-8.

Standing with those 8 is political suicide and will get MAGA mowed down like a Russian general in Ukraine.

There are many ways to support Ukraine and win without putting boots on the ground. No. 1 would be to weaponize our energy supply and flood the oil market with oil!

War won.

It is really that simple.

Unfortunately, our POTUS is playing for the other team.

Trump never practiced isolationism. What he wished to do was insure that every decision abd policy put the best interest of the USA first before all others. The Abraham Accords are certainly not isolationist but peace between Israel and the Gulf states is certainly in America’s best interest.
