The first thing they need is love. Self love. When you decide you are worth loving, you learn that not stuffing every kind of food in your mouth is a truer way of loving yourself. You don’t have to deprive yourself of sweet/salty/whatever foods, but you love yourself more and better by not eating them so frequently. You can change the way you look at food, and that helps you change your habits with diet and exercise.
Basically, I agree with you. However, some people had medical situstions, like being bedridden for months, that contributed to their situation. This isnt the Olympics, so Im ok with somebody using a bit of an aid in the process. As long as they are making the requisite changes, including exercising and diet.
I suspect Gayle King is on something like this. Typically your face looks drawn out, she is losing some weight and looks drawn out. She’ll eventually resemble her friend Oprah who William F. Buckley referred to as that women who alternated being heavy and not so heavy.
I understand why people do it, and I’m not against it.
I guess my point is don’t just pop a pill.
Exercise, eat healthy, have fun, minimize stress, meditate, supplement, and get ample sleep.
that’s okay if they use it “all for vanity” reasons.
why would that bother you?
Things won’t change. That’s why we see almost the exact same articles year after year.
I keep hoping that “man yells at cloud” eventually works, though I truly know it won’t.
No info in the article on dosage except for ‘daily injections’ I use Ozempic but it’s 1mg per week. ..as is the norm. If this woman was taking it daily, I’m not surprised she had issus.
It’s going to get worse as the competition for such drugs increase. The FDA is complicit in enabling the broken system to continue to produce what is undeniably the greatest public health threat since margarine.
I know of no way to lose weight safely other than counting calories.
Even flies wouldn’t eat margarine…
I went from 202-178 in 2 months on the Mediterranean diet. The Jesus diet. I wouldn’t call it a diet. Rid yourself of sugar, processed foods, beef, pork.
I lose weight without counting, but I know around the calorie count in my head.
Eat mainly vegetables, then animal, then fruit. (In portion size)
I actually decrease my exercise when losing fat.
Too much cardio promotes inflammation and increases appetite.
I hardheartedly agree that lifestyle changes are the fix.
But, many other drugs risk suicide. Read the bloody fine print on the paper issued with the Rx and listen to the Dr telling you about it!!
I contracted a drug resistant version of pneumonia. Had to take a special antibiotic for 10 days. Waaaaay down towards the bottom of “side effects” was: “may lead to suicide”.. Oh, joy. I feel like caca and need to be watchful for that (new) little voice urging me to stop the pain — it is not your usual little voice.
It’s appalling that people still believe the ‘butter is bad for you’ gaslighting - let alone that people buy the crap product - but more so that margarine is still manufactured.
I’m on Ozempic. I’m type 2, apparently I lost the generic lottery. I lost 20 pounds when I first started and gained 10 of it back when I got used to it. I don’t know how it could make you suicidal.
Like some...and unlike others...I’ve been on it for months to control diabetes. I’ve had no problems with it and it’s controlling my A1c nicely.Thankfully my insurance plan covers it with only a small co-pay because it’s damn expensive. The “sticker price” for a 1 month supply is about $1,000.
````````````````````````````````````````````
My copay is $5 per month, no deductible to be met first. It keeps my A1C low, last check was 6.0. For me, I’ve lost 19 poumds in the last 18 month I did not need to lose.
For me weight loss is a negative side effect. There are times when I have to force myself to eat, just to keep my blood sugar up in the normal level. That must sound like a high class problem to people who are over weight, believe me, forcing oneself to eat, whether or not you’re hungry, is not a pleasent experience.
“...definitely change the lifestyle.”
Some times the lifestyle can’t be changed to make a difference. One is the problem in the US with Insulin resistance. It is estimated that four in ten people in the US have it. And it leads to other problems that break the body down to where the other problems have to be controlled to defeat the problem of obesity. And even then it may not be possible to do so. Diabetes, one of the players in insulin resistance, adds heart and respiratory problems. And the dominoes just keep falling faster than you can pick them up. It’s kind of like Lucy trying to stay with the chocolates.
If you put less gas in a car it doesn’t run as far or as well depending on the gas. Same with bodies. If you don’t get the nutrients we naturally need then the body doesn’t run right and more problems surface in many ways making it unable to correct any of them. Vicious circle.
Or maybe the Scarsdale Diet. That one stops you from eating - permanently . . . .
“Discipline “
In today’s society, that level of self-control for anything is considered another word for punishment. It’s not fun and “that doesn’t work for me”.
Very proud of your progress, you are healthier for it.
