Schools used to have dresscodes that prohibited inappropriate clothing. Even if a child changed into something like this at school it shouldn't pass muster.

Intersting that this editorial appeared in the SF Chronicle. Potential brain-transplant alert...

One young lady had pulled her thong underwear up high so everyone could see the "T" peeking out of her dangerously low dungarees. Women twice her age wore similar looks.
If she's showing her underwear, she is NOT a "young lady." She's a hoochie in training. One does not exhibit one's unmentionables.

"From a Darwinian perspective," she says, "the mating process is extremely important, and both sexes are advertising a great many things." I think that the young ladies are not advertising "a great many things". They're pretty much just selling one thing. That's an item that's been for sale for a long, long time. But that doesn't make it right.
The anthropologist in the article says that this behavior is "completely natural", which I believe is true. However, there's this new invention called "civilization" which is supposed to help us move away from "natural" behavior and toward moral, responsible behavior.

From a Darwinian perspective...
That says it all. We truly are just animals on a different branch of the tree (figuratively and literally).

They sell thongs for 7 year-olds. My daughter wears Lands End and LL Bean exclusively.

I'm Amish and all of my kids dress just like that. Let me know if you have questions.

I have 3 grand-daughters, the oldest is 11. I pray for her daily to stand against friends that would make her want to be one of the gang.
Less prayer, more parental supervision and involvement. Did you raise the children's parent to allow your grandkids to look slutty?

Lands' End still has a good classic offering of clothes. So does LL Bean, Hanna Anderssen, and a few others.

You're Amish and you have a computer? Wow, how times are a changin'. Most of the Amish folks that I know (SE Iowa) haven't gotten anywhere near there, yet.

I believe in speaking truth into existance. You might say prophesing what they will become. Example: In Jesus' name I proclaim my grand-child will follow the Lord all the days of his life.

Rather high end. My pre-teen wouldn't be caught dead in the trashy outfits that are so popular today, and we shop thrifty. You've got to get to them young!!

My wife buys a lot from these, as well as Gymboree, Cache Cache, Noodle Zoo and some Gap. Gotta be a little careful with the Gap stuff, hits all over the spectrum. Seems like you need to hit the expensive mail order stuff to stay conservative. Thank goodness for EBay.

I'm a pretty liberal guy (in the classic sense) and I have to confess I have been taken aback by seeing women from 10 to 60 running around the city dressed as prostitutes. Tittilating perhaps for a virgin 17-year-old boy, but when you've been around the block a few times, it just looks sleazy.

The TV commercials are bombarding our culture with sex messages, and are drilling the concept that men are stupid buffoons, and women and children know better. Hence, the father will have no authority, and the children keep sliding down in standard of moral conduct.
Jay Leno joked the other day that kids nowadays are too fat that the teachers would not have sex with them. Family life has been taken over by TV, and the schools have been dominated by social engineers-not educators, even churches are full of problems. Thank God, I don't have a daughter.
