It’s amazing how many folks think they live in a two-dimensional, flat world.

I guess I'm not super surprised that so many people see a missile launch though. This is one of those rare cases where your intuitive visual first impression can badly mislead you.

BTW, do you remember when FR used to do polls? I would love to see a poll of where Freepers stand on plane vs. missile.

Yes, I've read it and I realize this. But there was a span of several minutes after it separated. We don't know when during that span he had the right direction & zoom to see the plane, if it was possible at all.

Why bother? I see hundreds of flights pass over every day out here in flyover country, and many of the contrails look quite strange. The little kids like to look at them, but beyond that it’s kind of of a dog bites man sort of story. Too common to be that remarkable.

That same image of the "detached plane" is obvious in Levyas' video and in Warren's stills -- AND THEY ALL LINE UP EXACTLY WITH THE FLIGHT PATH OF UPS 902.

To prove your point. If it's so common you should be able to do so easily. I have also seen thousands of airplane contrails and have never seen one that made me think it looked like a missile launch for even a moment.
