From the original letter:
As scientists, we are compelled to write to you, our elected representatives, about the current administrations proposal to legally define gender as a binary condition determined at birth, based on genitalia, and with plans to clarify disputes using genetic testing. This proposal is fundamentally inconsistent not only with science, but also with ethical practices, human rights, and basic dignity.
The proposal is in no way grounded in science as the administration claims. The relationship between sex chromosomes, genitalia, and gender identity is complex, and not fully understood. There are no genetic tests that can unambiguously determine gender, or even sex. Furthermore, even if such tests existed, it would be unconscionable to use the pretext of science to enact policies that overrule the lived experience of peoples own gender identities.
Bottom line: Even if there are genes that determine sex we should still go by how people feel.

These people are supposed to pass as “scientists” nowadays??

article:
"The memo states that any disputes about a persons sex would be clarified using genetic testing, which scientists who signed the letter called unscientific and unethical." LOL. These "scientists" should be stripped of their degrees and credentials. Now genetic testing is "unscientific"!
Does it surprise anyone that these are the same people peddling "global warming" and "climate change"? Ha ha ha ha.

“Science” has become a joke.

We, the General American majority, don’t care if 16 Million ‘scientists’ scribbled their signatures to this letter.
We wish to keep the standard that has worked since the start of Mankind.
There are but two genders, barring the rare phenomenon of Hermaphrodism. We are not willing to keep playing this game of ‘lets pretend I’m a ‘X’, where you can lose your job if you refuse to pretend. It’s an unnecessary drain of time and energy in the social world.

I challenge these scientists to put two mares together in a pasture and time how long it takes them to produce a foal. Idiots.

IMO, the entire theory of evolution is at least as lame as “climate science”.

Mainstream science has become so politicized, it resembles a cult religion more than anything else.
That cult religion has rightfully been dubbed, Scientism.

I feel and believe that I'm good at what I do for a living. That said, I don't think that this qualifies me as an expert in everything else in life. Science encompasses a very broad spectrum of investigation and ‘expertise’. It's hard enough to be at the cutting edge of a very finite area of science, let alone be a scientist AND an expert on matters that are well beyond science and that are predicated on spirituality and philosophy. I don't care if every Nobel Prize-winning scientist over the past two decades signed a letter or petition. It's no different than if my neighbors did the same.
