Judge fines Donald Trump more than $300 million, bars him from running businesses in N.Y. for three years

The judge who presided over a civil business fraud trial against Donald Trump and his company has issued his decision in the case.

Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the former president and the Trump Organization to pay over $364 million in damages, and bars Trump "from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years."

The judgment is the second this year against Trump after he was hit last month with an $83.3 million verdict in writer E. Jean Carroll's defamation case against him. The former president could also face four criminal trials this year as his presidential campaign barrels toward the November election, with the first set to begin in New York state court on March 25th.

New York Attorney General Letitia James had been seeking $370 million from Trump, his company and its top executives, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, alleging "repeated and persistent fraud" that included falsifying business records and financial statements. James had argued those financial statements were at times exaggerated by as much as $2.2 billion.

If they are taking Jersey, let them have Philly too, including all the suburbs of Philly.

I’m in NJ and would prefer to stay in America.

If one finds someone guilty merely because of political affiliation rather than the facts, we’ve got a problem and appeals should cover that.

Can’t imagine Trump wasn’t prepared to appeal this ruling so he probably has the means to do so.

"Will be overturned on appeal. But they they get the headline when they need it."

Has to compete in the news cycle against Fani's meltdown, which was unexpected. Joe Six-pack far more likely to interpret the verdict as overkill from a fish-lipped Manhattanite 'judge', and most people have an imbued idea about excessive verdicts overturned on appeal.

Your meme reminded me of a Katie Hopkins YouTube video I watched today. She's reporting that the UK is planning to allow Canadian scientists to dump tons of magnesium hydroxide in the ocean off the coast of Cornwall, to counter the acidity of the sea. The chemicals allegedly collect carbon, and she wonders why this is being done in the UK, when it should be done in China or India, which are the biggest polluters in the world.

Then she points out the problems that have occurred when man interferes with nature:

Cane toad was introduced in Australia, to rid it of the cane beetle. Now the cane toad is identified as an intrusive species. French Polynesia had a rat problem, so the government began a program whereby they'd give money to people who killed a rat, and brought in the rat's tail. But what the people figured out was that they'd just chop off the tail, let the rat live, so it could reproduce, thus giving them more rats whose tails they could chop off, to keep their money-making scheme going.

Tired of losing yet? I really don’t see how Trump gets out of this. I’m betting the appeal route, which I understand has a high cost, won;t be successful.

"Because the law mandated a “bench trial” decided by a judge."

Nope--that ain't it.

Can anyone tell me how much longer this testimony is going to go on before the Judge makes a decision?

"I wouldn't put money on that. America has turned into a 3rd world hellhole, supported by a corrupt judicial system."

To solve that problem, we'll need to send 50 billion more dollars to Ukraine 🤪

President Trump has an amazing history of coming back from mind-boggling financial disasters.

I would never bet against him.

“If Trump’s team had requested a jury, then Judge Arthur Engoron would have had to consider both sides’ requests.”

WRONG. The judge already said he would NOT have considered it because it was a non-jury case. Nobody forgot anything.
